This place is a shithole. The food was bland, undercooked, or missing stuff listed on the menu for the dish(bacon on a bacon burger for example). Their beer taps have not been cleaned or maintained regularly and it affects the taste and clarity of the beer. Had to go down the block to get a great meal. Get your shit together guys, if you want to stay in business. Drinks and wings don’t pay the rent.

Usually I research before heading out for food, but we decided to just test our luck this time. We perused the menus as we walked down Marine Drive, and decided on this place due to their decent vegetarian options. We were greeted by a genuinely nice waitress, who made sure we were comfortable when we asked to sit outside. It was chilly but there is outdoor heating and lap blankets to make it hardly noticeable. We ordered the Nachos appetizer, vegetarian quesadilla, and Jolly Roger burger. All were awesome. Don’t let the $ 15 for nachos scare you. These are supremo nachos with layers of goodness! That was the most expensive item we ordered. The other stuff was around $ 12 a plate. My quesadilla was fresh and unique, with avocado and goat cheese, along with the usual ingredients. The burger was much better than the«fancy» expensive burger we had ordered the night before elsewhere. The fries/chips were thick and tasted homemade. Decent beer selection and my Malibu and coke was literally the best I had ever had. Might be due to the real sugar(I’m from the states where high fructose corn syrup rules the sweetener industry, unfortunately). Overall, great place that we highly recommend. High variety of menu items(Mexican, American, Indian, etc) at decent prices.

We were walking down Marine Drive wondering where to eat when a pirate flag greeted us at the Jolly Roger. Checking out the menu a few specials caught our eye and as we were debating going in a server came out with a big smile and invited us inside. The space was nearly empty when we arrived(though, to be honest, it WAS only 2pm) but we were still dreaming about the butter chicken poutine. The very friendly server was kind and approachable. He provided excellent service, even noting that our fish and chips was low on fries, offering to replenish them if we felt the urge for more of the crispy, salty bits of goodness. We had ordered the Butter Chicken Poutine and Halibut and Chips. Both were amazing and I would personally come back specifically for the BCP! Though the décor could have use a few more portholes, swords, and buccaneer servers(perhaps including a surly barmaid) the food and service more than made up for it. All I can say is: «YARRRR!!!»

In a party of three, we were walking the White Rock beach promenade and saw $ 10 pitchers. Obviously, we stopped in for a drink. The prices are very good for an expensive tourist trap. $ 4 for yam fries? $ 4 for soup? At prices like that, it’s easy to spend a few hours drinking and eating — which is the perfect way to enjoy a White Rock sunset. We had a carrot and ginger soup, and it was delicious. They also had some really neat, heavy spoons. I know it’s weird to mention in a review, but we were actually all impressed with the spoons. The waitress was very attentive and we were glad to stop in and give them some business during the slow Winter season. I’d recommend The Jolly Roger to anyone looking for a good time and a small bill!

We were wandering down Marine Drive in White Rock looking for a place to get a bite to eat and stumbled by this place. We weren’t sure if we were going to eat here but the server rushed outside and demanded we come in(in a very friendly way, of course). We got seated inside. The server was unbelievably friendly and had alot to say. This friendliness made it worth the stop. The atmosphere is pretty nice. There weren’t many people in the dining room and that was ok. The menu has quite a bit to choose from and spiced rum drinks were 4 bucks, couldn’t go wrong there. The fish and chips were great. The butter chicken poutine was amazing. It was a great surprise. Overall, I think that the service is going to keep people coming in for the future. We will be back.
