History

Established in 1927.

William Clarence Town opened the W.C. Town Furniture and Home Furnishings Store on Brock Street South as well as the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel in 1927. By the late 1940’s the Funeral Chapel was located on Dundas Street and known as W.C. Town and Sons with Harry and Jack joining the family business. In 1954 they dedicated the new chapel built at 110 Dundas Street East which remains in use to this day. In addition to the store and the funeral home the Town’s also ran the local ambulance service with the use of their 1927 Buick Hearse. In 1989, John Newediuk Sr. bought the funeral home from the Town family. Since then it has been a member of the Newediuk Funeral Homes, a group of funeral homes run by John Newediuk Sr. and his family including his two sons, Michael and John Jr. W.C. Town Funeral Chapel has always prided itself on families serving families in the funeral service industry. In 2005, the Newediuk’s added an addition to the funeral home allowing for new spacious, elegant rooms.
