Our tours are all tailored to the ability of the participants and our guides are the best in the business, mixing skills with talent and passion. History

Established in 1993.

Canadian Wilderness Adventures is a grass roots company which grew from two friends passion for all things adventure!

Starting with a couple of snowmobiles and a dream to combine work with play, Canadian is now a 50+ staffed company who all live and breath wilderness activities.

Expanding into ATV’s, 4×4 jeeps, snowcats, kayaks, canoes, dog sledding, snowshoeing and mountain dinning, what we do never stops going.

Manager

Originally from Winnipeg, I grew up (never) in Brockville, Ont with three brothers. After visiting Whistler in 1994 I ended up falling in love with the place and staying.

With a strong sales background and marketing diploma, I came to Canadian as a Jr. ATV guide May 1999 and fell in love with the company and the adventure tourism industry. After guiding for 2 years I became Lead Hand and then moved to Operations Manager. After 3 years I left to become a paramedic with BC Ambulance Service. As a local paramedic I worked with the Whistler Alpine Guides Bureau as their Operations Manager and started their first aid program. I became an instructor with the Canadian Red Cross, and with Sirius Wilderness Medicine.

However, I still wanted to return to Canadian and after talking to the new owner I was re-​hired as GM in 2007. Since then we have worked as a team to develop new products and continually strive to be the best we possibly can.

One of the coolest experiences I have ever had in my life! Just did this today with my wife. The staff is super friendly and nice– the people are cool too. JK. But the dogs are so friendly– you get to work with them and play with them too. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. You get to lead the dogs too which is scary and fun at the same time! The scenery is unbelievable– we had a light snow fall the whole time. Truly a great experience with awesome dogs and staff! Probably the highlight of our whistler trip this far!!!

Let me start by saying this was one of the highlights of our lives, not just Whistler.
We came to Whistler from Los Angeles on 12÷28÷15 and left 1÷1÷16. We snowboarder Whistler Blackcomb two days, we went bobsledding on the Olympic track, we bar hopped the village new years eve, we at expensive steaks and duck confit, we soaked at Scandinave Spa, and we drank our asses off. But the best part of it all was dogsledding.
The price was expensive but worth every cent. Our driver, Mel, was quirky and fun and the mushers were friendly and easy going and knowledgeable. Dress warm!
We got to meet all the amazing dogs, pet them, feed them, visit their kennel and learn about them. We got to ride in the sleds and each got to take turns mushing as well. Great times.

Me and my two girls were treated to a great day. This had to be the high light of my trip. The guide was patient and extremely knowledgeable and hilarious. Got to see bears and an awesome sight from the top of the world. Will be back for more.

We took a Jeep tour up Blackcomb Mtn and it was awesome. Our guide Randy was awesome! We drove a full 2 hours for a sunset tour. He made sure we thoroughly enjoying ourselves. We saw some animals and was shown different views as we went. My family had a great time and highly recommend it to anyone.

Due to the lack of snow, our originally scheduled snowmobiling tour was replaced by an ATV tour. After riding the shuttle a quick 20 mins drive to our ATV spot (Callaghan Pass), we geared up and were off. There were only four of us on the tour, so it was nice to have an intimate experience. The trails here were amazing. There was a nice variety of landscapes from streams, to rugged mountainsides, to puddles, to hills. Having done a lot of ATV tours, this was hands down the absolute best I’ve ever done. The scenery was gorgeous, and our guide was great. The goldmine at the end of the tour offers beautiful scenery of the surrounding mountains, including Black Tusk. The machines are all Honda 4-​wheel drives, so not matter the terrain, it’s a smooth ride.

Had a great time yesterday with our tour guide Jenna. She was great! She gave us the fundamentals, allowed us to have some free time to play, and took us up and returned us safely. They provided gear. The views from top were stunning.

I decided to go on a jeep tour, payed around $ 120 for a 2 hour tour. They can fit 6 people to a jeep. Starts from the bottom of blackcomb mountain and goes all the way to the peak. It was a nice day when i went so the tour guide took the top off and we got great views of whistler while riding up the mountain. Our guide took us to this spot where the bears usually hang out but unfortunately no bears. Ask your guide to take you to any spots where there might be bears and you may get lucky. Some of the ride was bumpy but thats all part of the experience of riding up a mountain. When you get to the peak, it is breathtaking. You can see Green lake and the village and the other surrounding mountains. It is a great experience. Great for picture taking.

We had an epic time on our guided Jeep tour to Horstman Hut in August! Our guide Chris was very informative about the flora & fauna on our ascent/​descent of Blackcomb Mountain, showed us the Crystal Hut where they have the salmon bake, and ATV tour trails used to access it. We walked down a nearby ridge & stayed at the Horstman Hut vista point for an extended time so that we could witness the setting sun over the coastal mountain range to the west. We had two teenage girls visiting from Spain with us & they had a blast.
Chris also demonstrated the off-​road capabilities of the Jeep Rubicon which were impressive. He asked if we wanted to do an extended tour along the dirt road in the valley between Whistler & Blackcomb because he hoped to show the girls, my wife & I some bears. He took us to the small dam owned by a Whistler electric company that generates electricity to operate the lifts & gave us an excellent narrative of how they accomplish this. At the end of the evening, and on his own time, he offered to drop us off at the Delta Resort.
An excellent value for the price. I cannot recommend this guide more highly if you’re fortunate enough to get him.

Crystal Hut Salmon Bake ATV Tour. This tour is worth every penny. So fun and so delicious too. The view from the deck at Crystal Hut is unbelievable. Our guide was Sam but all the staff at Canadian Wilderness Adventures are outstanding too. Take this tour.

Such a fun time! This place is filled with tons of adventures to do in the summer and the winter! This place is packed with people, locally and visitors! Mostly tourist though because it is right in the middle of the village.
We did their ATV ride and the Trekking exploration! WOW! It was such an amazing experience! For sure it is worth the money for being a tourist. Sometimes it is good to be a tourist and learn about the place you live, even if it is 2 hours drive outwards.
The guides were friendly, and they were very useful most of the time. I don’t understand why people would book through 3rd parties just to get like 30 $ off a small little adventure. Yes, it could stack up for some people, but you are on a trip. Don’t care and just have a great time!

My sister & I went Dog Sledding last weekend, and it was a really good experience. The Team were super friendly and the dogs were excited to get out and pull us around. We toured to kennels afterwards and got to know more about the dogs. Thanks.

We had reservations to go snowmobiling. Check in was at the Carlton Lodge and it was easy. We took a 30 minute shuttle ride to the Callahan area where we arrived to a lodge full of outerwear gear, snow shoes and helmets. My bf and I came dressed in our own snowboarding clothes, gloves and goggles — so we only had to borrow the helmets. They took us on an hour snowmobile ride through the wilderness. It was magical and so peaceful, which made it so easy to take in all the views. We made a pit stop so we can all take pictures and play in the fresh pow. My bf had a blast driving the snowmobile around. Definitely do this if you want to do something different in addition to snowboarding. The tour guides could be more personable and friendly, though.

Booked a trip with this company through
. Called the 800 number the day of to verify the sunset tour was leaving at 7:30 that day and got confirmation that we should arrive at 7:15. We arrived at the reservation desk at 7:10 pm. There was one girl helping a couple for 15 minutes without acknowledging us. We interrupt and ask if we’re in the right place and she tells us we need to wait and she’ll get to us. Once she booked the tour for the couple she was helping she told us that there were no more tours that day and the sunset tour left at 6:30. It was confusing because the sign behind her said 7:30 and we had a reservation. She said we could book a different trip the following day because she had two spots open. We said forget it and left.
Horrible customer service and poor logistics. I would not recommend this company. Also, it appears they go by different names such as Canadian Snowmobile Adventures as well.

The first time I ever rode an ATV was in the summer time here in Whistler. I came with my girlfriend and her family and we had a blast!
NOTE: YOU GET FILTHY! I had dirt coming out of my ears and nose! So don’t shower before hand

We had a blast! We did the Back-​country adventure tour. The guide was great. he took our group to an open area to learn how to use the sleds and he could get an idea of what we could handle. From there we did a 2 + hour tour including up some small mountains for an incredible view of the valley. We had great conditions which helped but it was a really fun afternoon.

We went on the 11:30 Mountain Explorer ATV Tour and it was amazing! Our tour guide was Jamie. She was a great, knowledgeable guide. They provide all of the gear needed, you just show up. The terrain varied enough so that you got to do just about everything. Though pricey, it was definitely worth it!

I just wanted to take a moment to give a shout out for one of the ATV tour leaders Andy (from Leeds, England). We were on a bachelor party excursion and took the advanced ATV course. Due to a little user error mishap whilst going up one of the rock faces, I fell off my ATV and Andy was there to (no joke) save my life. He is a legend and I owe the rest of my medical career to this guy. Management if you are reading this — promote this guy!!! I definitely recommend the tour– but get the beginners to take the beginners course…

As part of a Wedding Retreat, I booked myself and two friends on a ATV Tour with these folks. Booking was easy and checking in was simple.
We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful guide who was clear on the rules and kind enough about telling us about them that we did our best to comply.
The tour itself was breath-​taking. Riding up the mountain-​side, thru some pre-​planned water hazards for some splash photos, and multiple stops along the way with enough time for me to whip out the DSLR and take a few gorgeous shots of Whistler Village from up above.
The trek was challenging enough that you had to be mindful of what you were doing. I bring this up because one of the other driver’s and their co-​pilot managed to flip their ATV in between some trees. No one was hurt, but embarrassment ensued.
Definitely worth the money for the tour itself, but bring your own camera to take shots with. They charge an arm and a leg for the «professional» photos.

I kinda feel bad giving them only 3 stars, but Intrawest just makes me want to vomit.
So they screw up this reservation (again) and we reschedule. Now instead of going out in the morning, we’re going late afternoon. Ok. That’s cool.
So we meet up with the driver (didn’t know there was one) for the 30+ minute drive (WTF?) to the trails. Get into a handmade truck (no joke) that had no heat (–15* C) and a terrible exhaust leak (*cough*)
We get there and its little more than a shack with a bench inside. The dogs are all barking like mad, the ones that get to go for a run completely excited, the ones left behind, totally bummed.
Luke was our guide and he was great and the saving grace for the whole thing. He was just a great guy, chatted us up, told us about living out in Whistler, knew his hockey. Just great.
I’m going to rock the 3 stars for this because being out behind a team of dogs was awesome. I’ll never get to do this back in the States, so I’m glad I got to run a team of dogs though the Great White North, even if was only for an hour.
