Great rustic décor, cozy ambiance and friendly service were only a few factors that made our experience at Chez Eric a memorable one. The short drive out of Ottawa is a welcome mini-weekend escapade for the cabin-fever-afflicted. The menu wasn’t too extensive, which is often a good sign in this bracket of establishment: fresh, local and seasonal ingredients drive the menu rather than the ‘trend’. Prices were more than reasonable considering the quality of the food. Think ‘rustic-bistro’ style and that should give you a good idea of what you are in for.

Great food with outstanding service ! The club was excellent, a meal and a half. Delicious coleslaw with a touch of garlic. The Monte Cristo was just the right blend of sweet maple syrup and savory bacon and sausage. And café au lait with cinnamon. All made with love, chez Eric.

Best date night place in Wakefield! Exceptional outdoor patio in summer and even cool nights in the fall with an outdoor fire. They’ve recently introduced a burger/sandwich portion to their menu, and have successfully blended haute cuisine with affordable, delicious food. You can grab a beer and pulled pork sandwich, or an incredible steak with a handmade cocktail or bottle of good wine. I’ve noticed a great selection of gin last time I was in so I’ll be back to try more cocktails.

We had a lovely evening with a good friend at Chez Eric. We sat in the charming and cozy upstairs dining area and received attentive service during the whole meal. We tried the lamb, duck and pork entrees, all of which were beautifully prepared, hearty and filling. Oh and try the caesar — it comes with a slice of hot bacon! Overall, it was the perfect place to drop everything for an evening, eat some great food and catch up with old friends.

If you enjoy big sounds, huge beats and hardcore, face-melting terror, then maybe you should go to Chez Eric. It’s a dangerous but worthwhile dining experience nestled in the breasts of the Gatineau hills. The overwhelming smell of bacon, resonating throughout the small town of Wakefield, can be enjoyed from the outdoor patio where you sip your dark brown mijito at this new-age bistro. Go to this place, eat it’s offerings, and get yerself wasterd son.

My husband and I have been here before under different ownership and decided to check out the new owners. First of all the space is small but cozy inside but the outdoor seating is spacious and there is a sand box area for the little kiddies. Brilliant! We opted for inside despite the young couple with a fussy baby. Fortunately they took turns taking the fussy baby outside to keep her quiet. Thank you considerate parents. My husband ordered the steak medium rare and I ordered the spare ribs. Thank goodness my my husband didn’t order a rare steak. What was served was a tasty but very rare cow. My ribs arrived and were quite the opposite. The meat was so tough I couldn’t manage a second bite. I sent it back and requested the rainbow trout. The waitress was apologetic and quickly removed the offending meal.(It was the special of the day which I generally avoid.) The trout was wonderful. The grilled veggies and potatoes were flavorful and nicely done. My new meal arrived after my husband finished his so we skipped dessert as he was ready to go home. We didn’t order appetizers but they serve a small bowl of popcorn instead of a traditional bread. Nice idea for a lighter snack except the popcorn was burnt. Will try this restaurant again but avoid the daily special.

Ate here for the first time on a beautiful summer Saturday night recently. Had Che(the owner) as our waiter which was nice. It is quite a small, cozy place with a nice vibe about it. Great outdoor patio as well, they just finished a nice stone bar/grilling area off the patio. I had the best duck entrée I have ever had there, so tender and tasty, yum, yum ! Girlfriend had the scallops which were also good. We really wanted to try the Risotto as well so we got the Risotto main as a side dish(organic mushrooms with herbs from their own garden). Unfortunately I would say that it was a little below average, slightly watery, and a little lacking in flavour, could have cooked it a bit longer and seasoned a little more. Overall a great meal and experience though ! You gotta make the trip out to Wakefield and give it a go !
