Frances Bryant-Scott of Open Hearth Studio provides Art Therapy and Counselling services to individuals, couples and groups who are dealing with grief, anxiety, stress, and times of transition such as career change and retirement. She also leads workshops in art techniques, using art as a therapeutic process, and art and spirituality. Custom workshops can be developed for the needs of your particular group.

Open Hearth Studio was opened in Oak Bay in the fall of 2013 to provide a comfortable and accessible place for individuals, couples, and families to obtain skilled counselling and art therapy.

Business Owner
Frances Bryant-Scott is a skilled and compassionate therapist who believes in your inner capacity to change and heal, and seeks to help you use art to activate and strengthen this ability. She received her Masters of Social Work degree in 1989. After working in textile art and children’s costume design from 1997 – 2003, she returned to counselling in 2010. She finally combined her artistic and therapeutic skills when she received her Post-Masters diploma in Art Therapy from the BC School of Art Therapy in 2012. She contracted her services to the South Island Centre for Counselling and Training, Victoria Hospice, and the Victoria Mental Health Centre before opening her private practice in Victoria, BC in the fall of 2013. Frances continues to facilitate bereavement groups for Victoria Hospice and developed an Art as Therapy program that runs twice weekly out of St. George’s Church in Cadboro Bay. She is currently serving as the President of the BC Art Therapy Association.
