Olde Towne Shoe Repair

I’m a bit of a shoe horse and put a lot of miles on my dress shoes. When my favourite pair of leather soled, Johnston & Murphy cap toe shoes wore through the sole I wanted them fixed.
The one review for Olde Towne Shoe Repair was positive so off I go, shoes in hand.
This business is one where you should not be put off by appearances; it has a tiny sign and save for the large, hand painted banners in the window advertising the types of repairs, it would be hard to find.
But when you enter, you know you have come to the right place. The smells of leather, polish, and glue fill the air.
The owner is quick to diagnose and estimate. «$ 20 deposit if you please»
A glance around at the shelves stacked with all manner of footwear suggests he’s be burned by more than a few ‘customers’.
I’m happy to hand over a $ 20, with the promise my shoes will be ready in three days.
Three days hence I return to retrieve my shoes. They look and feel better than new. I am very happy.
I clear my bill and thank the man for excellent service. Colour me satisfied.

I went here on the recommendation of a Unilocal review on another shoe repair place. It was worth it. I went to get rubber soles put on my boots and the toe repaired on one of them. It cost $ 25 and took a few days, but the guy working there seemed like a genuinely nice guy and did a fantastic job with my boots. Highly recommended.
