I went there and ended up having their Curry Thai Chicken soup(wasn’t super hungry). It was delicious! I definitely will be going back to try their sandwiches! Love the look of the place and the staff is extremely friendly!

I haven’t yet had the chance to go to the location in Vancouver but heard it’s really good. So on my last trip to Victoria in February we saw there was a location here so we were excited to give this place a try and Oh man we were not disappointed. This place is absolutely amazing. We both had the porchetta and nothing was left. So good. Would definitely go again.

They were really quick and accommodating, talked with us about visiting, they let us try a drink before buying it, and the food came in no time.

Was recommended this place by a local on my visit to Victoria. Glad I gave it a try. Had the porchetta. It was delicious. Chunks of meat, a little bit of fat for moisture and flavor and tiny bits of cracklings for texture all with herbatiousness. On a very warm and crispy ciabatta bread. The fam had the jerk chicken and enjoyed it just as much. Don’t know how big the chain but hopefully one will show up soon in the states.

I havent been to the M&B on the mainland, but I was told to try the Porchetta, so I listened! Was it good? It was decent, could have used more crackling — there was a mere sprinkling — meat was tender, not much seasoning, and the portion itself was small; I’d say smaller than a small Subway/slightly larger than an average sized penis, ~6″. There was some kinda green, pesto looking sauce, but I couldn’t even taste it. I’m not a huge nosher, but I could’ve eaten more after I finished that sandwich! Sandwiches were $ 9 – 10, so somewhat pricy. With the exception of a generous medallion-sized squirt of mustard, there were no sides whatsoever. Drinks were also pricy at $ 6−8−10 a pop! I got 2 drinks, including 1 cider, and it was over $ 12 alone. If you’re on a budget, stick to the self-serve tap water available towards the End of the counter where you place your order. Jerk Chicken, which I saw being marinated, was tastier than Porchetta! Meats on both sandwiches were tender, so I will give them that. For those of you who are indecisive, this place is great because menu is very simple!

Tried the new Victoria location for lunch after hearing several rave reviews. Fantastic Porchetta Sammy in a minamilist assembly line setting. Could be the best pork I’ve ever eaten. The cracklins are sublime as is the salsa verde. House mustard is excellent but would prefer it in the Sammy not on the side. Service was fast and efficient but not particularly friendly. Only quibbles that keep it from getting 5 stars are that the Sammy, while delicious, is not particularly large for the $ 9 price tag and I’m not a big fan of the large long communal tables and somewhat overly hipster minimalist/wharehouse vibe. Would return, but not regularly as the sammys at the Italian Deli are as good or better, larger and less expensive at $ 6.50 each. Would love to try the beef or duck here if it ever comes on as a daily special as it is not on the regular menu. One of my colleagues had the Mexican soup with bits of pork and chicken for $ 4. He said it was fantastic. Try the Phillips intergalactic Root Beer with your Porchy Sammy! Amazing!

Saw Guy Ferry’s review of their Vancouver location and got excited when I looked it up online and found that they also had a Victoria location. Decided I had to try their signature Porchetta sandwich for lunch one day. The slow cooked roasted pork that filled this sandwich was moist flavourful and the cracklings that they add give it a bit of a salty crunch that puts this sandwich over the top. Not to mention the salsa verde and dipping mustard that cause an explosion in your mouth! The service was prompt and the sandwich was fresh. Highly recommend for lunch! Just wish they were open later for a night snack. check it out!

There’s a reason their Vancouver locations are popular — these sandwiches are fabulous! Prices right on the edge of «high» but the quality is generally worth it. I like that their bread is shaped so it’s easy to hold & bite into without stuff sliding out everywhere. Jerk chicken has the perfect kick. Service was friendly and efficient, though there’s no set traffic flow at the order/cash counter, so the lunch rush can be chaotic. Would love to see at least one or two more sandwich choices on the regular menu as well.

The sandwiches are awesome, especially the Porchettas, and the price is very competitive considering that everything(food) is so expensive here in Victoria. The staffs are always friendly and atmosphere is great. The only downside for me is the bread. It’s too hard to chew and because of that, I normally eat the meat inside only.

Limited and kind of expensive but good menu, felt like we were being hustled out the door and no coffee! Why no coffee?!! Not my kind of place…

Good god this place is awesome. And you already know that because it’s called friggin’ Meat and Bread. Just like the title, the menu and the space are totally simple. There’s a pig sandwich, a beef sandwich, a chicken sandwich and a veggie sandwich. Pick one, order it, pay and eat. The opposite of simple is what you’ll find in the food. You’ll be bombarded with complex, tasty, melty, sexy flavors in your mouth hole. And again, while simple, the space is gorgeous. Beautiful wood counters and tables, clean lines and really basic and bare boned. It’s not about gawking at some complicated painting or some massive menu, just order some meat and bread and shove it in ya face already! My boyfriend and I had a pig sandwich and a chicken sandwich when we rolled through and they were exceptional. We took them on the Clipper back to Seattle and the four people sitting next to us were asking us all about our food and joking that they wanted us to share. Glad it was a joke because that was NOT gonna happen! Too good to share. Hope they’ll expand to Seattle. Wink wink.
