We at Ideal Companions offer all kinds of educational/​corrective services for people and their canine relationships. We offer all levels of consultation, education, rehabilitation, obedience, behaviour, basic and advanced skills training in the natural home of the dog and his or her territory. We work at your speed, with the needs of the dog, and his or her relationship with the pack.

We do not engage in such dominance techniques as the alpha roll, or other damaging, strong-​handed techniques that essentially transform your dog into a robot. We work with the personality and desires of your dog and show you a better way to raise your dog with respect, love, and foremost, with friendship.

We offer a mix of techniques that match your own desires, while explaining the necessary changes in a way that is easy to understand — and if not, we are willing to go back and show you again!

We guarantee that if you follow our advice, your dog will change — without turning them into a robot.

History

Established in 2014.

While John worked with friends and family for many years before the beginning of the business’ establishment, the idea to bring Ideal Companions to fruition was not a goal until 2013, when John decided to take an official course through ICS Canada at the suggestion of family, whom saw the patience, drive, and natural talent needed to become a safe, reliable, and effective dog trainer. When John passed his course 6 months early with a percentage of 96% and received a certificate of Highest Honors, he decided it was time to open the business officially!

Now with dozens of successful, happy clients and more seeking help every week, John is proud to offer affordable canine educational services across Vancouver Island with pride!

Graduated ICS Canada Dog Training Certification December 2013

John’s passion for dogs became most evident when his step son showed great fear of dogs, and he sought to know more than just a natural affinity for canines in order to help his son through this crippling fear. Through various sources of education, John started helping friends and family in order to learn even more first hand. That was all he needed to learn that his love for dogs was more than just passing fancy!
