Denny’s never lets me down. I’ve gone there two years straight now for birthdays, date nights, anniversaries. Food is always bomb. Staff are super friendly, prices are very good. Love Denny’s! Keeps me coming back.

My husband, my daughter and I went to Denny’s on December 28 the for lunch. We arrived at 12:15 pm. We waited 15 minutes to be seated. We were seated in the alcove. I joked to my husband” I hope they don’t forget about us up here!.”. we waited another 10 minutes before the waiter came to take our order. I ordered the holiday turkey dinner. I was asked if I wanted broccoli or corn. I chose broccoli. My husband ordered the classic Eggs Benny and my daughter ordered the Cali club sandwich. We waited 40 minutes until we watched the guests who were seated 20 minutes after us receive their orders. We asked an employee about our lunch. Our waiter came back and apologized for forgetting our order! He told us he would put our order in and that our lunch was on the house. We decided to stay. After another 30 minutes went by and more guests received food. I again asked an employee about our meal. She went and got it. My turkey dinner did not come with the broccoli I ordered(both times I was asked if I wanted broccoli or corn). she told me they did not have any broccoli left. Despite the delay and the misunderstanding we ate our meals. We were in the restaurant for over an hour and a half. Again the waiter came back and told us out meals were complimentary. While we appreciate the gesture, we were very disappointed and will not be returning.

So with this Denny’s location, it is very important that you go at the right time. If you go when it’s busy, your food will come to you cold, or your party will get their meals at different times. I went with my wife and friends at around 1:30 pm and we got a table right away, but had to wait a while for the water and server to show up. We ordered drinks to start and she said she’d be right back. A little while later we finally got the drinks. We ordered and again, waited a while. They have a open window kitchen and you can see the meals that are ready under the hot lights. My wife and friends were on their phones surfing and comparing postings while I watched the meals just sit there while we waited patiently for our food. Half hour goes by and I ask the server if those meals under the hot lights might be ours. She goes over and get’s our food that was sitting there for 20 minutes. Obviously the hot lights can only do so much and our food was cold. When we told her, she asked if we wanted it nuked! It just went downhill from there. Now that is not the only bad experience we’ve had. Every-time we go when it’s busy, the service and foods sucks. Now here is the trick… go early in the morning. Sunrise if possible. Their service and food are fantastic then. The servers are polite, fast, pampering and yes, even funny :) Everything on the menu is awesome when they have the proper time to prepare it and serve it. I love their burgers. The best that I’ve tasted and I love their breakfast skillets! I’m getting hungry just thinking about it and it’s only 8:30 am, so there’s a good chance it will be great! We have never been disappointed before 10 am at this Denny’s! The bad part is the bathrooms are disgustingly dirty all the time!

Food was fine. What I expected from Denny’s. Hostesses were rude, server was flustered because it was busy. Not that any of that would have turned me away because I’m not looking for fine dining here clearly. The issue I had is with basic service, when you refill a coffee either keep the cup on the table or use the handle, don’t grab my cup from the rim with all of your fingers. This is day one serving. It’s disgusting to see and ruins your already suspect coffee. When you refill water do it at the table, don’t take both glasses somewhere to the back and bring them back. How do I know I’m not drinking out of the other guys glass who is sick, did you man handle it like the coffee cup while back there. These may seem like minor issues but to anyone paying attention or who have been in the industry it’s awful and will ruin a meal because no one wants to drink after that and we wonder what else is happening. Maybe a simple staff round up pre shift to go over the basics would change the simple things that can be fixed without changing efficiency.

At first i kind laughed at the thought of going to dennys for brunch, but it was delicious. The restaurant was just renovated and looks nice. The wrap i ordered was stuffed full of goodness and PERFERCTLY wrapped. I could not believe it. so good and of course entirely affordable.

It’s a Denny’s…they’re all two to three stars for me. Service was a bit slow at this one even though it wasn’t very full. I wouldn’t eat at this one again if I had other options. It was late Sunday night and not much was open in Victoria, and we didn’t want to go downtown again.(Dragon Boat Festival going on, things were pretty busy there.)

Wife and I went to this Denny’s one Saturday morning to see how the new renovations turned out. I was surprised that even though there was a long line we only had to wait maybe 10 minutes to get in. Here ends the postives about the experience. Literally after we sat down the hostess asked for a beverage order and our menu order. We hadn’t even had a chance to open the menu let alone decide upon something. Pushy to say the least. We asked for a few more minutes. Eventually she came back and we made our order: I had a make your own grand slam with pancakes, toast, hasbrowns and scrambled eggs. My wife ordered the basic benny. We then waited. And waited. And waited some more. It was about 25 minutes later that we finally flagged the waitress down and asked how much longer. She came back and said«anytime now». By the time our food came we had been waiting just over a half hour. To be fair the place was busy, but 30 minutes for some eggs & pancakes is inexcusable. The server was also rather rude when bringing the food. No apology for the wait, no asking if I’d like my coffee topped up, not even a «enjoy your meal». And then: the food itself was cold. My hashbrowns were actually undercooked, the pancakes ice cold, the eggs lukewarm. When the server brought us our bill, she actually gave us the wrong bill. We had to wait a few more minutes while another server we flagged down went and got ours. While the meal was cheap(~$ 25) compared to most restaurants, it simply was not worth the money at all. Most other restaurants I’ve been to in Victoria have been maybe $ 5 more and had absolutely amazing food. Horrible service, terrible food, poor value, and an all-around terrible experience. Will never go back.

The great thing about chain restaurants is that you always know what you’re going to get. I went to my first Denny’s many years ago in Niagara Falls, and fell in love with the low prices, abundant amounts of food, decent service, and coffee. Remember that last item: we’ll be coming back to it. The Denny’s restaurant under review faithfully continues to provide low priced, high quantity food, and generally has a very good service staff. It’s kept reasonably clean, though I admit to having never entered their restroom to inspect it. Unfortunately the kitchen tends to be loud, and it often drowns out ‘private’ or ‘quiet’ conversations — if you’re within 20ft of the kitchen, you’ll probably need to talk loud enough that your surrounding diners will easily be able to overhear. Don’t go to Denny’s to talk about anything you wouldn’t want your neighbours to know about… Let’s turn to the food. When I was there over the weekend, my brother got their new ‘cheesy fries’ as an appetizer. Let’s just say that they’ll never be ordered again: the ‘cheese’ combination is poor, and I got a very real feeling that we were served a ‘cheese-like’ food product on top of the(otherwise excellent) seasoned fries. Turning to the entres, I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich(with seasoned fries), and my brother the chocolate pancakes. The sandwich was good, though I was disappointed that the bun overhung the chicken on both ends and that, while there were tomatoes they weren’t exactly piled onto the sandwich as I’d requested. I’d be somewhat fearful to see how few are on a ‘non-piled’ sandwich. The spicy fries were quite tasty, and were in abundant quantity. My brother’s pancakes were acceptable. He liked them quite a bit, but when I tasted them they had a weird flavour to them. I’m not sure *what* that flavour was, and it wasn’t gross or anything, but it tasted… weird. Real maple syrup isn’t served — it’s more like Aunt Jemima’s. Now, I said I’d get back to the coffee. This was the worst — nay, intolerable — part of the meal. It was terrible, containing some sort of chemical undertone. I can honestly say that it was amongst the worst coffee I have ever had in my life, and I asked for two separate replacements in the hopes that it was a cup or something else. No. it was the coffee. I would heartily suggest that you NEVER order their coffee, unless you’re(a) looking to alienate a date that’s with you;(b) you hate yourself. On the whole, Denny’s has good ‘upscale’ dive-food at reasonable prices and abundant quantities. I’ll be back, though I’ll order the water instead of coffee.

Experienced better Denny’s in my day. Had a Chicken Ranch Melt(my favorite). The bread on my melt was very very pale looking. Wasn’t a nice golden-y brown I’m used to! But whatevs, it was alright. Had a side salad on the side(hehe) and it was yum. Just a regular salad, nothing special. One cool thing is that Canadian Denny’s have a cute little maple leaf for their apostrophe! Whoo.
