The dollar store had what I wanted. I’m actually surprised there’s a dollar store on Hamilton street in Yaletown… it seems like such a posh location! Maybe that’s why(mostly) nothing in there is a dollar! But I found what I was looking for, and the staff was very accommodating in helping me find what I was looking for. The location was clean and well organized, which I can’t say about other dollar stores. They also have a sweet balloon selection, if you need those inflatable fun things for a party or celebration.

Another one of those dollar stores with things that aren’t really a dollar. In other words. I spent $ 5 on a belt last minute ’cause mine broke while walking downtown and I needed something in a pinch to hold my pants up from falling down. My pants are up, however, my wallet is slimmer.

I’m updating to give it an extra star. I have had to come here to shop more often for last min needs like Bday wrap, cards, gift bags, hardware stuff ect. I like that a lot of the time it’s open until 8 pm

I’m surprised to read so many negative reviews for this store. I work nearby and this is the go-to place for whatever miscellaneous items I may need for a party or event. Perhaps it’s all the yaletown hipsters who never dreamed of having to actually step into a dollar store(aka reality check) to buy something reasonably priced. The prices are great and inexpensive. Remember this is Yaletown. I find it lucky to even be able to buy something for $ 1.25 in this vicinity. Service is fantastic and knowledgeable. Every time I asked for help, they were right there and responsive. Have you been to a Staples lately? It can be pretty hard to find good help there sometimes. This is a family-owned and operated store.

How can I give such a high rating to just a dollar store?! They sell not double, but TRIPLE jack for the phone line for just a dollar! Ive been paying $ 3 – 5 a pop at Staples, London Drugs… And extra points for carrying product reflective of the yuppies who live around here(though not sure if they would shop here) but they do have a good selection on chargers, USB extension, & other cell phone gadgets, etc. How do they survive the rents selling this stuff when restos around them are going out of business like it’s a fashionable thing? Les Chinois just closed their doors 2 weeks ago… At least this dollar store take both credit/debit ;)

RANTALERT!!! $ 2.50 for Birthday gift wrap. I hate dollar stores in Canada. It’s bull$hit to name it a dollar store when so many of the items are more than a Loonie. Come to ¥100 yen shop in Tokyo and you will be amazed at the brilliant swag you get for ¥100. ahhh that feels better. g

Often when I need stuff like thread or gift bags or a thermos I’ll go here because it’s close to my work. I usually find what I need and they have a decent section for party favour-type things. It’s not a very big store but they cover a good range of needs. I saw feather boas yesterday for $ 9 when I’d bought some for $ 2 at another Dollar Store but if you really need a feather boa and you’re in Yaletown you’ll probably think $ 9 is great!

Surprisingly this small Yaletown location has managed to pack a lot of everyday useful items in it, all for $ 1.00(or increments of it.) They have lots of lots of party supplies, décor and items that you’d be amazed to find in there. A «Happy Birthday» tiara?! I want it! We managed to purchase a lot of our items for our themed black and white party here. Tablecloths, plates in all sorts of colors, and they can even fill balloons with helium for you. Items here are very random; you’d be suprised what you can find here, and almost always, leave the store after spending more than $ 1.00.

I have some interesting needs — sometimes it’s eye patches, hooks and hats others it’s rubber duckies, fuzzy dice and bouncy balls. And almost always I find at least some of what I’m looking for. I understand that some of these silly things will be hit-or-miss in the finding division, but what knocks a star off of this dollar store is the lackluster service and what they’ve stocked. It often feels like it’s a season off. I don’t know about anyone else out there, but dollar stores aren’t really like fashion shopping for me. When I go to a Dollar store it’s because I need something soon, I’m not stocking up. Case in point, it’s April… is a wall full of water wings and other pool accessories really necessary already?

As the name suggests, it’s a thrift store where things should be a dollar or less, but every time I go there, it’s not. Most things are over a dollar and I get really upset about this. Why would it be $ 2 for a Diet Coke when it’s supposed to be one dollar? I usually buy Diet Coke, water, birthday cards, balloons and really cheap bathroom cleaning equipment. But I see people come out with bags of stuff, like clothes, dishes and mats and brooms. The staff is friendly and very helpful when needing to find merchandise. So for a dollar store it is cool.
