The chicken enchilada at this place is the best I’ve ever eaten. They have awesome specials and a great vibe. The server was really nice and I had an overall really pleasant time! It’s a good place to come with a group of friends.

The burrito here is possibly the best in the city, but the service here is horrible. I’ve routinely waited 10+ minutes with an empty glass in a nearly empty restaurant before someone came to my table. If the Mexican food here wasn’t so good(don’t bother with the rest of the menu) I’d never go back.

Wow this lunch special just blew my socks off… I had the beef burrito(not normally on the lunch special menu) it came with sides of rice, black beans. It was chock-full of peppers and slow cooked beef and deliciousness. Throw some hot sauce in that and YUMMMM. For the price $ 5.95 — with the order of any beverage. WELL worth it. It was before 3 o’clock and so the place was not very full, which was great because if you wanted to do some catching up with someone it’s quiet enough to have a decent conversation. After asking as to the stage set up the waitress informed us that Friday nights is an open mic and that they have live music on Saturdays which it can get pretty loud but it’s to be expected if you’re listening to live music I would think

Came here for 6.95 $ steak on mondays, yes they increased their price by a dollar. You need to order a drink with the monday special. Portion is decent sized(just right for me) with steak, salad, potatoes, and garlic bread. Quality is alright, I mean what do you expect for a 7 $ steak dinner? Service is ok, just yell louder and they will hear you. The dimly lit restaurant was already full by the time we got there at 6pm. Free rock star parking at front starting at 6pm.

Came here couple times. I can’t say it was awesome but I have to admit on Monday, they have best steak deal. New York steak with potatoe, garlic bread and salad for $ 6.95 with purchase of a drink. This means any drinks not just alcohol. So it works out to about $ 11 per person. Not bad. Last year it was $ 5.95 for the steak. Service was ok. I mean it’s not u wave your hand and they will see you right away. The steak is a hit and miss. Sometimes u get a tender one and sometimes you are just out of luck. I would come back for that price, if I am in that area of course.

The staff are some of the nicest people. They were so courteous when I called for a take-out and when I picked up. Their burger patty is house made with tomato and lettuce. It came with potato with sour cream and a salad. The salad dressing is surprisingly good. I wish I had more. The burger is good and a really good value. Together with an order of calamari this all came to $ 14! I hear they have live entertainment and a really good tres leches dessert which was sold out. Darn. Later in the week I went to eat in. The server was very attentive despite it being busy. My friend had a Mexican dish, not my favourite food and I had the burger deal if you buy a drink. We had 2 types of chicken wings and calamari. All in all a decent meal on the quick. And really good service. It is a bar with sports played on the TV, too.

I was here one afternoon for a late lunch and I have to say that the other location is better. For food, atmosphere and service. I didn’t expected much to begin with because I know how it was like at the Burnaby location. But was kinda hoping for a bit more. We walked in at around 1:30pm. There was only 2 table inside having food. The other places along Hastings were still somewhat packed. We waited for like a good 5 minutes before we got to sit down because we have no clue where the server was. Right when we were about to leave she pops out of no where and greets us. I gotta say she at least had a smile. Looks like she was the only server but the tables were all not wiped down. Even by the time we left there was only 3 more people that went in to grab a quick bite. Food take a while and it took her a while to give us the bill because it was hard to wave her down. We ordered straight off their lunch special because I recall it being pretty decent. Well, at least from their Burnaby location. I got the chicken Slovakia and my bf got the fettuccine Alfredo. He said his was ok considering it was only 5.95. My chicken tasted weird. I don’t know how to explain it. The rice was pretty much instant rice. The cesar salad was ok because it had premason cheese on it. Not bad. The potatoes taste a bit blan. They make their own sauce and it wasn’t bad. The pita bread was a bit oily. I also believe it’s Chinese own. Overall, not a place I would suggest others to go even though their menus are pretty cheap. But… there are better places around the area that you can have for lunch and dinner.

I had a wonderful, friendly server. My bill came to $ 9.22 after tax, which included a Ceasar(drink): delicious and the BLT with a large salad and some boiled potatoes. Only the potatoes were a bit weird. This is however, my first visit. I am told there’s a band Saturday nights.(This is the old El Barrio location.) Shaw WiFi

Great value but it’s disgusting dirty, dark and the service is terrible. Monday night is steak night for $ 6.95 plus a purchase of a beverage, you get a large portion of food; however, the food is mediocre at best. They must make money on pure volume. It’s busy, loud and the staff are running around not even noticing that your out of water or drinks. The tables were stick, the chairs were broken and I didn’t dare to use the restrooms. Was worth a try once but never again.

Friday quiet evening. Our group had 7 adults and 3 children. The restaurant’s policy was to add 18% gratuity to large groups. Our group did not order food. Service was slow slow slow, we only ordered 7 drinks… and he had to ask me what drink I had to bill me! Oh my goodness, I’m glad that I didn’t have a complicated order. Also I was not told about a list of liquor that was under the«Friday Shooters $ 3» deal. The tile is broken near the bar, someone could trip and be hurt. Also noticed broken chairs placed upside down on tables. I wanted to rate zero stars. I won’t be coming back and will not recommend to anyone. I probably would make an effort to tell people to stay away. I’m sorry you had to read my negative review.

No stars because of food poisoning within an hour after eating only this outside food. Took 2 days for it to clear out of my system. Very ill.

Average food at rock bottom prices. Not fine dining, but there’s rotating specials and sports TV. Steamed potatoes and salad with your burger, so it’s a little bit healthier than your average pub food.

The first time I went there I ordered the burger to play it safe, then immediately got mad at myself for not venturing to their Mexican style dishes or steak as those dishes got placed in front of other patrons around me and they were looking/smelling pretty damn good. Burger was still tasty. I HAD to go back to try other dishes and take full advantage of their INSANELY cheap liquor(for this city at least). There was a live jazz band starting up as we started to eat and it was a lovely touch. My server was attentive and sweet, his tip certainly reflected how impressed I was. As someone who really digs chorizo sausage, I wasn’t particularly into theirs when I tried it in a quesadilla on another visit. It was a little too dry and burnt tasting, but I could have just caught it on a bad day. The cheese on the quesadilla was unique and delicious, however. Not the fanciest place, a little older looking, but the big TVs, cheap drinks and good, honestly priced food makes it a must try.

Came here for dinner in the evening with the boyfriend and his parents. We had word of mouth through a friend telling us that this place was good, so we made reservations. Staff are super friendly. They’re always there to check up on you, refill your water, and make sure you’ve got everything you need. No complaints here. For appetizers, we had calamari, teriyaki chicken wings, and spicy buffalo wings. It’s a small portion to share among four people, but the price is just right. One thing about the buffalo wings is that it had a sour taste to it. However, dipping it in blue cheese sauce reduced the sourness. Everytime I go to a bar, I crave burgers and fries. I ordered the Chicken Cali Burger. It had a side of salad and potatoes. The chicken was a tad dry, but I devoured it anyways because the crispy bacon made up for it. Potatoes were delicious, with a touch of sour cream. The salad was alright. I prefer a creamy-type dressing, but they’ll give you something else. This place is great for its price and customer service. I would come back for a cheap meal that will leave me satisfied.

5.95 for steak dinner on mondays?! Deal! I’m always down for a cheap steak dinner. Comes with rice, salad, potatoes, and garlic bread. The dinner was good for what it’s worth. Usually it’s 9.95 I believe? Well I enjoyed the food. The waiter we had was pretty cool until the end of our meal seems like he was just tired and was ready to leave. They were kinda understaffed for a night that they should know people are going to come grab a steak dinner for so cheap.

Had the Thursday $ 6 salmon dinner. This dish is identical to the Monday $ 6 steak, except for the steak bit. The sides are the same. The salmon itself is a bit smaller than the steak, but the value is there. More importantly, they do a good job cooking it. It’s done just right. Bottom line — you just can’t go wrong with this place. Another 4 star recommendation.

When I was going to BCIT I learned of the Burnaby location of X-Site and fell in love. I was so excited to find out there was a second location of X-Site in East Van in walking distance of my house. This location has all of the goodness of the Burnaby location but it also has a great selection of Mexican food. The restaurant that was here before was a Mexican place so they kept the best of their menu and their staff and added the X-Site one on top. The best part about this place though is their awesome lunch and dinner specials that come in well under 10 dollars. I can regularly have a local craft beer pint and a full meal that fills me up for under 13 dollars and even if you hit up the regular menu it will probably be 15 for a meal and glass. Bring Unilocal app to Blackberry 10!

I came here with one of my friends before a concert at the PNE Amphitheater. I’ve been to the other X-site location in Burnaby multiple times with friends and family, so I was excited to try it’s alternate location. Unlike the X-site location in Burnaby, this one is a bit darker, with more high tables and dark wood furniture. It’s also set up for live music with a stage in the back, which is pretty neat. The bathrooms are really nice and clean too, which is a perk. As for the menu, this X-site location has practically the same menu as the Burnaby location, but with an additional menu insert containing Mexican food. You can order nachos, tacos, and a few other Mexican themed dishes. I’m sure this is because this place used to be El Barrio, but it’s a neat touch. I also really like that there are lots of menu options for people who are vegetarian, vegan, or gluten intolerant. The fact that most menu items are under $ 10 makes this place even more appealing. As for drinks, the alcohol selection is pretty small. You can get all of the standard alcohols, a few different wines, and a few beers on tap. You can also get a bucket of Sol beer, if you’re into that. The drink specials differ every day of the week. From what I remember, on Thursday’s double highballs are on special, and on Friday’s Long Island Iced Tea’s are on special. Service was a little slow when we got to X-site, but our waiter was incredibly nice. He double checked to make sure that my friends veggie burger didn’t contain any dairy products. The food itself was exactly as I expected from experiences at the alternate X-site: nothing to write home about, but pretty good for the price you pay. I do like their green salad and potatoes(with sour cream drizzle) on the side instead of french fries, which is a healthier alternative. I appreciated that our waiter also made sure that my friend’s potatoes didn’t have any sour cream on them — good thinking! Overall, X-site is a great place to go with friends, especially if you’re on a budget. If I’m in the neighborhood, I’ll definitely check this place out again.

This place keeps the most obnoxious hours. Every time I want to go it’s closed — usually late nights(I heard they had cheap booze so, y’know) and Sundays. The hell? Why would you be closed on Sundays? Rheanna F. assured me that despite their hours, they are actually really awesome. So when a time came that I was actually hungry and not working away at school, we went! I got a long island iced tea which was tasty, and a veggie burger with spuds and salad. It doesn’t look like they«do fries» here. Even better actually, they give you little red potatoes with sour cream drizzle on them and they’re freakin’ delicious! I’ll take these over fries any day! The caesar salad was pretty decent. Lots of dressing, which is good if you like that. The veggie burger patty was good, seemed like a mix of a soy and a veggie patty. It was crispy around the edges. They were out of sprouts so instead I got half an avocado on top. um… YESPLEASE. It should probably always be like this. Who the hell would take sprouts over avocado? Also, the burger/spuds/salad dealio was only about $ 6 or something insanely cheap like that. Whaaaaaaaaat? It took an insanely long time for them to acknowledge us when we came in, but once they got the ball rolling our server was pretty nice and everything went smoothly. I’ll definitely be back!

Steak night is Monday. $ 6 for a 6oz strip loin which is of surprisingly good quality given the price, and it comes with rice, baked potato, garlic bread and salad, so you definitely won’t leave hungry. Also there’s a good beer special on Monday, so you can enjoy a cold pint with you meal and get out the door for under $ 15 incl gratuity. Really, you just can’t beat that kind of value at a restaurant. This place used to be a Mexican place called El Barrio which had pretty good food too, and although I don’t know if the previous owners also own or are involved in this place, but there’s still a fair bit of Latin american influence on the menu.
