Simple menu that stays true to it’s name. Very meat oriented which was cool. Their pulled pork sandwich was delicious — sauce was tangy, slaw was great and they didn’t cheap out on the pork! Unfortunately I was under the weather so I couldn’t take in any of their drinks :(Cozy interior and very cool.

The Greedy Pig — what a great name! Good snack food [I mean, really, bacon. What else can you say?] and a great, delicious and thirst quenching drink — The Roughrider. Check it out!

We came here with a big group to celebrate a friend’s birthday on a crisp autumn evening. The location is pretty central, close to the skytrain station and lots of foot traffic. Upon arrival I noticed the cozy feel of the interior, with dimmed lights and we were seated at a long wooden table. The décor is nothing fancy, just your average pub type of setting. Our server was acting a bit weird and we think he was working under the influence of some illegal substance… I ordered an old fashioned which was ok but for the price they charge could’ve had a better cocktail someplace else. The food however was quite delicious, hence the three stars! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which had tender meat with lots of delicious BBQ sauce and side of fries. Overall, this is a good place for large group of friends gatherings as it’s unpretentious and has decent food.

I walk by often and the pictures were appealing. But overall, I was unhappy. We walked in, and it’s VERY hot– which is fine, I can get over that. I sat down on the booth side, and it was so uncomfortable. I went straight to the wood, not like I’m that heavy. I am 5’9 and the foot rest for the table was so unbelievably low, my legs just dangled. The above wasn’t even the issue. The issue was the service and vibe. There were two guys working. We only interacted with one. I asked him his name but can’t remember… a pale, blonde, 5’7, thin man… He greeted us, and wow I wish he didn’t even greet us. His vibe, energy, and mood were so down, completely lethargic. He lacked enthusiasm entirely. He briefly killed our mood. He wasn’t excited or happy or positive in the slightest that there were new customers. He didn’t converse with us at all. After that, we were extremely turned off. He was killing the vibe for the whole place. We had already ordered the mini pulled pork tacos and decided to leave and eat our mains somewhere else. The tacos were actually good!!! I just wish the vibe from the employees was more positive, enthusiastic, nice, etc

I came here for lunch and ordered the pulled pork sandwich. At first, I was sad it didn’t come with fries, but when I saw the size of the sandwich I was very happy with my cole slaw and pickle. My food came very fast which was nice as I was on my lunch break at work. I was ordering to go, and the server still brought me an ice cold water while I waited. I really enjoyed my sandwich, and for the $ 14.00 I spent(with tip included) I think it was worth it.

Good comfort food, but pricey for the dinner portion size. :(I wanna support this place cuz GORIDERS, but $ 17 for a shepherds pie that left my stomach still rumbling(I’m a hungry girl). Lunch menu seems more reasonable.

I think I was confusing The Greedy Pig with the Flying Pig. I was really not happy with my food. The description was that of a chicken, bacon, Avocado and chipotle mayo. Sadly it was just that with no love. I felt like I was eating BC Ferry food. The bacon was limp, almost microwave material, the chicken was a previously frozen thin breast and the bun was a bit to be desired. What really made it seem like BC Ferry food was the coleslaw. On an up note I would go back for a pint of beer, not a total loss.

Decent service and food. The food isn’t mind blowing. The pulled poor sandwich was tasty, but not something I would have again. The beer and drink selection is small, but has some of the essentials. I think what sells this place is the location(Gastown) and the atmosphere. It’s a pretentious free zone and I think many of us Vancouverites appreciate that more and more in this city. I really enjoyed this place, they have a pretty decent selection of Canadian beers. This is a laid back bar, but I’m sure you will enjoy the atmosphere. I tried the Canadian Bacon appetizer, and that’s literally what I got. A plate with about 10 strips of crunchy Canadian bacon. This was a very simple appetizer, but If you are drinking some beers I would recommend it !!

I am starting to warm up to Gastropubs in downtown. They are a great place to unwind with colleagues and are always a great way to fuel up before a weekend or maybe to just celebrate a hard working week. For the Greedy Pig, you get that same feeling especially If you want to spend quality work lunch time among comrades. I had a delicious mouth watery pulled pork sandwich with a side of coleslaw and pickle. Not a big filler side dish but the main was very tender and juicy. Very savoring indeed. I often see the working crowds fill up during the lunch hour but they usually don’t just come in to eat and run. The lunch crowd here tends to savour their time here with a couple of drinks before they hit the road. I’m glad I found another time thief joint for my work.

Came on a Saturday night to find the place fairly empty, with most of the people sitting at the bar, so we grabbed the high tables and settled in. After looking through the drinks menu, the three of us decided to get something different from their cocktails menu. The menu consists of whiskey and bourbon, which was right up in our alley. The Roughrider with CA rye whiskey was a very sweet drink, and I didn’t care for it that much. The Ward Eight was a drink I’m familiar with and Greedy Pig’s version is with a Kentucky bourbon and that was the first time I’ve had it with bourbon instead of rye whiskey. My favorite was definitely The Old Ripper though. Made with Tennessee sour mash, pureed white peach, crème de peaches, fresh lemon juice, bitters, and egg white. The egg white was definitely what attracted me since I’ve had it only one other time in my cocktail. There was one thing in common with the three, and it was that it all tasted a bit light or watered down to us. We definitely expected more of the liquid gold’s punch. Also got the Roasted Bone Marrow. They served it with sea salt, bacon, marinated roasted garlic, and sliced baguettes. I smeared the garlic and the bone marrow together on top of the baguette with some sea salt, and each bite was a fatty garlicky goodness! The bone was not cut length wise so we did have to dig out the marrow. Not a big deal usually but it would’ve been nice if they provided us with actual small spoons instead of us using the back of the utensils to dig it out. Service was great though. The girl helping us that night was very friendly and checked back with us constantly.

This is a favorite spot for me and the man, occasionally we can nab one of those big comfy chairs and just lounge over many drinks, eat meat and cheese and do this all over what is ussually a pretty good play list-I had this hilarious moment there one time where I was trying to figure out a song the cat on my tounge caught and the only thing I knew was a sh*tty rendition of a guitar riff… anyways, I don’t know if they heard me making a fool of myself or not-could have been purely coincidental-the song played loud and clear over the speakers and it was freed from my mind. Yeah… everybody’s working for the weekend. Happy Wednesday. I haven’t dug much into the menu here, I’ve had the marrow bones-they were good and really played on my hunter/carnivore side. The pot-pie was large and fantastic tasting. We alwasy get charcuterie though, a constantly rotating mix of meats and cheeses, this place is even encouraging me to give olives a better shot. The garlic, jams and fruits served are always delicious. We’ve dined on huge portions of asiago, bresaola, brie, bleu’s yum yum yum yum… comparitively, greedy pig is my personal choice winner in the gastown neighborhood for charcuterie-love it! I like the wait staff here too. The girls have a true charm to them, from what I can tell they all seem to really get along, they don’t mind being at work and seem to have a decent time while on shift. The price point I think is quite good. By the time we eat a 5 item charcuterie, have a few drinks each and enjoy the atmosphere and eachother for a couple hours, we walk away leaving a good tip with the bill and never feel like we’ve just been robbed.

The greedy pig was just okay. I stopped in for lunch and had a croque monsieur which was good, but my mom did not like her veggie sandwich. It was loaded with mayo and cheese. The bartender serving us was very friendly, but very slow. There was no one in the place but us and it took about 15 minutes to get our drinks. We ordered raspberry iced tea and the tea was in this old jar and in a beer mug, so it was kind of shady. I would have preferred freshly steeped tea, but oh well.

Meh. It’s in my neighborhood so I’ve gone in twice by myself to have a quick pint at the bar and perhaps eat something. Perhaps because I wasn’t with a date I seem to have acquired a major cloak of invisibility to the oh-so-fashionable servers. It’s quite dark(to be more romantic) so it’s hard to read the menu. Or my Kindle — admittedly one waiter took pity on me and got some candles which helped greatly. Unfortunately his colleagues went right back to ignoring lil old me. Last time I left in frustration after a pint, but I don’t recall anything staggeringly great on the menu first time I ate there. Plenty of other places to eat in this city. And eating by yourself is a good way to judge whether a place is date-worthy or not. p. s. in the neighborhood, the Pourhouse is only about 2 blocks away, and has better food, better seating and better service, IMHO. Though a tad more expensive.

My thoughts from my first time at The Greedy Pig: * 9 of us had lunch; everyone enjoyed it very much * the appy meat and cheese plate was a nice mix and very fresh * the Greedy Salad was excellent; perfect bacon, fresh cheese, yummy dressing… * the cole slaw was on the bun in the pulled pork sandwich; large portion of meat * the service was very good, but to be fair, we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time Overall: great local food at a reasonable price Worth trying for sure.

The place sure smelled like a greedy pig when I came in. Now, I’m not a vege-terrorist or anything, but when a place smells entirely like meat when you enter, it can be kind of overwhelming and after a while just gross. I met up with some friends who were already seated and parked myself at a table next to them, when the server came over with their drinks, I assumed he would ask me if I wanted anything or even acknowledge that I was there, but he didn’t. The place had mabye five other people in it, so it’s not like he had to rush off to help someone else, so I just waited for my better half to stagger over so we could get a drink together, that was about fifteen minutes later. I ordered one of their double cesars, since they were on special, and the BF had a beer. My cesar was not the best one I have ever had, it was a bit watery and needed some spices added to it(when I say spices I don’t just mean tabasco sauce, I mean where’s the worcestershire sauce, where’s the horseradish? And when I was finished it was also difficult to get the attention of the staff to get a bill so I could pay for it. I’m not sure that I would be back here anytime soon, unless I had a craving for the smell of bacon and mediocre service with a watery cesar. Meh.

A little pricey for the amount of food. The food at The Greedy Pig is in my opinion very simple and the ingredients very inexpensive. For the type of food you get along with the cost, I would think that there would be more on my plate. My husband decided to have lunch here and we ordered the Truffled Roast Beef Sandwich and the Grilled Reuben with a French Onion soup. The Truffled Roast Beef Sandwich was very good. We were impressed with the dish. It came with coleslaw and 1⁄3 of a pickle. My Grilled Reuben came with coleslaw and a tiny pickle as well. I added the French Onion Soup for $ 2, but I think I could have drank that thing in 2 gulps. It wasn’t the best French Onion Soup, but it was decent. I wish they had baked the cheese on top though. The bill ended being $ 36 after tax and tip, which I thought was a little much for sandwiches. The food was good, but in my opinion not worth $ 36.

I loved my waitress. She was cute, funny and sweet. And that is the only good thing I can think to say. Uh oh! We had a groupon, so some girly BFFs and I headed to Gastown to use it up. We started with a bottle of the Pinot(I can’t remember the name! Oops!) and were slightly horrified — not a good bottle of wine at all. Acrid and flat, the wonderful wine experience I had been craving in my head was dashed. :(If you are only going to have 6 bottle on your menu, make ‘em great! Next up, my pal and I decided to try the cheese plate. Four selections with fruit and condiments — we almost started to laugh when it arrived. Compared to Salt just a few block away, where for 15 dollars I can get full from a cheese plate, this was a paltry joke. Our 16 dollars got us pieces of cheese so small they are like normal bites. A single bite. The manchego was so thin that we could actually see through it — no joke — and the condiments were merely smears of colour on the plate. None of the cheeses were of particularly good quality or flavour, there really seemed nothing special about them. If we hadn’t had the groupon we would have complained. I know that the Greedy Pig is known for their mixology, so we did sample a bourbon based drink, and it was again, just ok. So, for wine, cheese and charcuterie, head to Salt. If you’re after cocktails, head to the Diamond or Guilt and Co. Steer clear of the Greedy Pig.

Pretty good. They use oyama sausages for their bangers and hash. Their veggie hash was so good, I wish there was more on the plate. Everything we had was good including the wild mushroom soup. and the marrow and toast which the marrow was cooked perfectly. One thing I don’t understand. Why do people go out and eat charcuterie for insane prices? Go to Santa Barbara Market and get some good meat & cheese for a quarter of the price, you know? Just a suggestion. I don’t go out to eat coldcuts and cheese when it’s cheaper at home. On to the food. It was good. To be honest though, I’ve had better and even the portions could have been a tad bigger. Or maybe the amount we had to pay for the portions. Nothing different about this place than say Salt or Irish Heather. I have to say, I saw the chef put our soup in the microwave to heat it up which made me a little sad.

Thank you, Groupon! My bestie and I were set loose in Canada(for some crazy reason) and came bearing groupons. Our first stop tonight was here, for some grub and beer. The atmosphere is small, understatedly swanky, and somewhat loungey. It’s basically a dive lounge. We went in pretty late, so it was already dark, and quite hot inside. We ended up at a cool little table with big lush chairs and were greated pretty quickly. This place is known for its’ whiskey magic, but after a looooooong night the night before, my stomach turned at the thought of booze. So I had a beer. We started off with bread and olive oil, the bread was really fresh and delicious(I love me them carbs). I got the spare ribs and my friend got the bangers and mash. It was insane. The ribs were so tender they fell apart the second my fork hit them and were marinated so well that my mouth is watering just thinking about them right now… and we just got back. It came with a little side salad which was fresh and yummy. My friend shared some of her sausage(bangers? hah, I get it) which was also juicy and tasted so good in my mouth(insert joker here). Our bill came out to almost $ 60,(lounge prices, dive bar feel. awesome.), but that groupon helped out. The atmosphere was insanely cute, the service was fast and friendly, and the food was beyond good. I want to bring this home with me.
