The Fish House In Stanley Park

Amazing food, walking by this afternoon and found it so made reservations for this evening. We shared Seared Ahi Tuna Nicoise salad, I had the mixed seafood grill and my wife had the grilled scampi. All three were excellent, well prepared and nice portions. We had the Raspberry, mint, coconut sorbet for desert, orgasmically, intriguingly delicious.

I visited the Fish House a couple of years ago when my family and I visited my aunt in Vancouver. I had almost forgotten that visit.
This past visit was far from being a forgetable dinning experience. We arrived a little before 5, which is when they start serving dinner. Even though we were there a little bit early, they let us to our seat right away.
It was a beautiful evening so we opt for patio seating. Along with the complementary bread with lobster oil and balsamic, we also got the mussel pot, which we all agreed was absolutely delicious.
For entre, I ordered the smoked black cod. It was so good that I didn’t want to share with others. The filet was so tender and the flavor was great. I tasted some of my aunt’s simply grilled arctic char. I’ve never had arctic char before and I was surprised to learn that it was very similar to salmon. I also got to taste some of the mixed grills. The scallop and the prawns were great, especially the prawns. They were cooked just right. I found the salmon in the mixed grills to be just ok. I felt like it was a bit under-​seasoned.
For desserts, we got crème brûlée and sorbet (mint lychee) to share. The crème brûlée was very tasty as well except maybe the sugar top was a bit too thick, according to my cousin, but I am all for sugar! The mint lychee sorbet was very refreshing.
It was definitely a great meal. We all left with a happy belly. The place is on pricy side, but with the fresh ingredients they use, it’s worth the money for an occasional indulgence!

SUPER OVERPRICED for mediocre food. Not a good experience… Maybe it’s because they’re closing that my food was well below par but this was horrible.
I left wanting McDonald’s… Wtf!

We stopped here for lunch around 2 p.m. after a walk along the coast. The service here is excellent: we waited less than five minutes for a table of nine to be set up; they had crayons and coloring pages for my five-​year-​old cousin; and food was delivered promptly for nine hungry Americans.

My favorite was the crab cake appetizers, which were lightly toasted outside, creamy and soft in the middle. I also tried other people’s food: I thought the steak was tough; the salmon was dry; and the fried fish was so-​so.
When the bill came out, I thought it was relatively cheap in US dollars, roughly $ 11 per person. Not a bad place to dine if you’re spending a day at Stanley Park.

I didnt tip as much as i should have because i felt since i was writing this review it has a dollar value. persoanlly as great reviews for restaurants likely will bring business in and we the reviewers should be given something for it

We had a lovely, yet somewhat pricey lunch at the Fish House. We sat outside, over looking the tennis courts. It we a beautiful afternoon. Our sever was very nice and attentive. We ordered 2 beers, a champagne cocktail, glass of wine, salad & soup combo and fish and chips. Our total was $ 100. Although everything was very good, we were very surprised at the cost. The glass of wine was $ 16. I would recommend sticking with the cocktails for $ 9. Additionally, it took quite awhile to be served our lunch. The outside patio really made this experience, but the pricing could have been a tad more reasonable. Beautiful place on a sunny day and good food.

This is in a very old restaurant. They have parking but you have to pay for it (which i think is so stupid) It is in the middle of stanley park but has NO view.
We got seated on the patio and we ordered the crab cake appy which was good. They serve bread with some sort of fish oil and vinegar to every table. We also ordered two fish entrees.
It was pretty good but honestly I have had much better salmon elsewhere.
The server was sooooooo awesome, he was so out going and friendly which i really like and is a HUGE plus in my books!
I will def. return here to try out their delicious salmon bennys that look AMAZING!!!

3.5 stars but I’m on vacation so I’m rounding up. Food is pretty good, service was pretty slow, despite our early 5:30 seating which wasn’t too crazy. Water glasses went empty for the entire meal (I’m a huge water drinker so this is my biggest issue), we asked for salt which never came, and didn’t get checked on during our meal.
MIXED GRILL $ 32. Sockeye salmon, scallops, and shrimp were very good. Recommend, but it needed a little more salt, which I never received.
SMOKED BLACK COD. Wow this was also very good.
CHICKEN TAGLIATELLE. Chicken was tender and seasoned well. No need for extra salt with this.
KIDS MENU. They struck gold here. Fish & chips, grilled cheese, grilled salmon (extra $ 2), chicken strips, tagliatelle pasta, and it’s comes with a Shirley Temple and ice cream for $ 10!
Location: inside Stanley Park near the tennis courts and right by the Pitch n Putt.
Parking: MUST PAY FOR PARKING! We paid for a daily pass ($ 11/​day during the summer) when we went to the Aquarium this morning so that ticket was good all day while inside the park. Common theme for ALL OF STANLEY PARK: you must pay for parking. We learned our lesson the first day when we got a $ 40 parking ticket after stopping for 10min in a parallel parking space near the totem poles. I think I’m going to make a list titled: «Stanley Park: MUST PAY FOR PARKING» and this will be my first in that series.

My mom and I visited while hopping off a tour trolley in Stanley Park.
This place definitely smells «of the ocean» when you walk in but the food and overall experience was great.
Our server was very sweet and the drinks were good. I had a craft beer and mom had a couple of Ceasars: D Since we weren’t starving, my momma and I split the crab cake appetizer and it was great! Randomly, we also found a coupon in our trolley guide for an amuse bouche from the chef so we each got a bite of tasty smoked salmon on a crostini! Yay dealz!
INSIDE INFO: If you do want to visit make sure you get here before September as they are closing for good. The waiter told us the company which owns the restaurant has opted not to re-​new the lease when it is up.

Not much to write home about
I base this review on a couple of things…
The price that you are paying for the food, overall is not worth it. We had eaten at the Blue Water Café the night before, which was impeccable. The food here was just a little less$$$, but no where near the quality. The presentation/​plating was meh… in comparison.
I think that had I not eaten at the Blue Water the night before, this place would have scrapped a 3 star.
It did have some redeeming factors, my crab cake appetizer was fantastic, as was the soup of the day.
However, they messed up on a request made with my boyfriends meal, and not once did our waiter come back and check on us, nor did he actually bring out the food to the table. The other 2 meal were basically good.
Hostess on our arrival was great, but based on out dining room experience, I would give the service a 1 start.
While this place is OK, I would not recommend this as a great place to eat… there are SO many other options that do a better all round job.

Apparently they are closing in September so if you like fish you might want to visit/​re-​visit here!
Parking $ 6.5 for 2 hours (not bad… considering tourisy place…)
The lobster oil… ya it’s nice but I’m not oily kinda person so didn’t loooove it like some others… it’s something different.
We did the Travel Zoo coupon thing and so did 4 other tables around us hehe! We got the mussels pot, clam chowder soup & crab cakes for appys. For entrees we got the salmon wellington (excellent with pastry around and beet juice sauce) and the poached halibut. The portions were fair/​generous. Finally dessert we got the ‘flourless chocolate tortes’ — essentially a chocolate brownie with a scoop of house made ‘peanut butter’ ice cream on the side — was hoping the brownie looking part to be warm but not picky about dessert!
Long list of wine selection & some beers & some martinis (had the ceasar & lycée martini — not bad not really alcoholicy either…)
Service — decent our waitress was friendly enough so was the team in general.
The view — there really is no ‘view’ except for the tennis court right next to it where people are playing tennis… hehe…but nice enough, parking lot right next to the resto…

Another FABULOUS dinner!
Took some friends from Hawaii there as they were fish hounds. It turned out to be the highlight of all our dining experiences when they were in town. Absolutely superb selection of very fresh oysters and probably the best Smoked Black Cod I have ever had. I can hardly wait to go back.
Plus they told me they were closing for good in September so so all you fish hounds need to get back there to savour the best fish around before they do.

Came here to celebrate a birthday. Was not impressed.
–The host did not ask if we wanted the dining room or the bar, he immediately took us to the bar
–The restaurant is located too far away from the water to enjoy water views.
–The inside of the restaurant is not very nice, not a place you want to take someone for a special event. One of the members of my party said that they could smelled mildly like a bathroom.
–We had the dungeness crab cakes, oysters, mixed grill and poached halibut. The crab cakes were fabulous, the mixed grill was alright and the poached halibut was bland.
–Happy hour specials are not available in the dining room.
–Parking is metered.

Restaurant in the heart of stanley park… there so many good things in this place the lobster oil where you dip the bread taste so good, ambiance is cozy and quite, decors typical canadian but neat and cool, service is excellent considering its a busy time. family friendly
ok, pay parking, pricey, good food…

I was eyeing this place for awhile but was not sure if it was worth going. A travelzoo deal (like a groupon deal) came about and I thought why not. Took my mom there and it was amazing. Showed the waiter my travelzoo upon arrival and I was still treated like a regular paying customer. The service and food was prompt. The server was also very attentive from the bread basket to my water needing refilling.
The appy was whatever don’t even remember what I ordered but the sauce they used was refreshing: The salmon Wellington was sooo good and a surprisingly big serving and the lemon meringue was absolutely delicious. Overall I am still thinking about this place 2 weeks later!
I would definitely go back again. I would not bother ordering an appy as I would get the salmon Wellington again and the lemon meringue which were both big size portions n delish!

Came here on a Saturday afternoon for Dine Out but found out they don’t serve their Dine Out menu during the weekends. :(
We opted for their regular menu and I had the salmon burger with fries (too much bun to salmon ratio, grocery store bought buns, fries were greasy and seemed old/​stale), however, the lychee mimosa was refreshing. The complimentary bread with lobster oil and basalmic vinegar was nice. Overall I was disappointed on the food as I had been really looking forward to their dine out menu.
Service and ambiance is nice. It’s located just east of the English Bay entrance of Stanley Park. If you’re coming from English Bay there are a few steps you’ll have to take a few steps up, just watch out for the little signs. The restaurant is next to the tennis courts.

We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the beauty of the park. (We got there at 11:30am, and we were the only ones on the patio since the weather was a little gloomy and did end up raining.)
DRINKS:
I ordered their Sangria (red)… YUM! Not too fruity and not sweet, so if you like your sangria to actually taste more like wine, this one does. I could totally have sat here all day and just enjoyed these. Alas, only 1 for me since we were going to keep riding.
Hubby had a craft beer. (He was on a craft beer tour on this trip.)
FOOD:
He ordered the Seafood Hash and it was filled with all sorts of seafood… clams, mussels, shrimp, fish, etc… with an egg on top and potatoes underneath. He really enjoyed his dish.
I had the Crab Cake Benny… it was 2 crab cakes topped with a poached egg on each and a side of potatoes. Mine was good, but I wouldn’t order it again. I can’t place it but there was a flavor in the crab cakes that I didn’t really care for. The poached eggs were perfection though… not too runny, not too solid.
SERVICE:
Fantastic! Our server was wonderful. And when it started raining she got a team of people (her and 3 others) to extend the awning so that we wouldn’t get drenched.
Total before tax was CAD54.

$ 38 afternoon tea (May-​Sept only), with white chocolate cream for your scones!
Food quality is quite good (except for weirdly flat and crumbly — but buttery — scones), but as far as afternoon tea services go, The Fish House falls short of more dedicated afternoon tea outfits by not having a tea set per se. You get regular dishes. Not even a tea pot of your own, but a single shared pot of hot water. Your tea comes in a satchel and you put it in your cup and pour on the hot water.
White chocolate cream as advertised, softened by mixing it with Devonshire cream. Strawberry jam in mini-​jars (a small minus compared to places that make their own, and which would therefore be presumably preservative and funny-​chemical free).
If you are not an afternoon tea snob and won’t miss the princess presentation, then price for food quality and location is pretty decent.

We held our wedding here and felt they really delivered.
I have eaten here years ago and felt that the food was excellent, and service equally so, but not pushing the envelope in any way. The review below was specifically about our wedding experience.
The servers were fantastic, as was the woman that dealt with all of the wedding arrangements. No details was not covered (though I suspect we were low maintenance). They really went out of their way to make our 50 person party feel special. The «fireplace room» was perfect for a wedding, private yet we could feel the vibe of the place in the other parts. We had use of the patio which was also great as it was sunny.
You can opt for many custom meal packages and the standard cake cutting fees apply, plus there are options for microphones etc. The room itself hardly needs any decorations and is lined with nice windows on 2 sides.
The food was maybe a slight notch below the restaurant fare but that is a high standard to hit when you are talking 50 people and still fantastic (many of our guests really, really were enthusiastic about it and the service and told us so). I had the seafood medley form our set menu choices as did my new wife!
I highly recommend this place for your wedding, in part because the lighting helped the photographer quite a bit.

Came here for high tea with a few ppl. The food was delicious and just the right portion however I found that the dessert was a little sweet for me, even though I like Thierry desserts. The variety of tea is about right for a place that doesn’t specialize in tea.
The price is average compared to Secret Garden, Tea Merchant, Hotel Vancouver, etc. I like Secret Garden and Hotel Vancouver better as their pastries and sandwiches have a little more flavor.
The service was great. They were always ready to fill the tea pot with more hot water, asked if we needed anything else and accommodated a slight change in selection as a friend didn’t want goat cheese and smoked salmon so they provided another sandwich for my friend.
