Stripped Wax Bar

Wonderful FAST service for a Brazilian. Ali was very friendly and professional which made things as comfortable as they can be while getting waxed. Inside was very clean and hygienic and the design of the space was simple and elegant. Happy to have found this business and would definitely recommend.

I have been going to Stripped for close to 3 years almost and Maryann is the best :) my Waxer for everything from upper lip to a Brazilian and always does an amazing job :)

Ali is excellent. I could tell she was well trained and I was most pleased. The salon is clean and pleasant and they never double dip! This not so enjoyable experience was made quite bearable by Ali’s clean and competent work style. I would most definitely recommend.

I went here a year ago for a Brazilian and had a terrible experience — the employee was not friendly, the wax was painful and I ended up with missed spots. I was so in satisfied with the experience.
My friend urged me to go back and see Maryann, I listened and I’m so glad! She was so friendly and made me really comfortable. She did the best job ever. Best Brazilian I’ve ever had. Go see Maryann!

I have been to 2 other wax places before I found out about Stripped Wax Bar. I go to the one that’s located in Kits. The interior design of the place is so cute and comforting. The salon is exceptionally clean and well stocked. However, due to the skytrain issue and the bus dropping me off at wrong stop I was late for my appointment. The front desk girl just told me that I missed my appointment. I came here all the way from Surrey which is a long way. I understand that its my fault that I was late but the front desk receptionist didn’t even offer to book another appointment. It is terrible. Last time I came here the girl who did my wax left a whole bunch of hair but I wanted to give them another chance. Too bad. I will take my business elsewhere

One of the WORST waxes of my life. It was SO incredibly painful and it took so long and the worst part was going home and finding so many hairs left over. I’m not sure if the «stripper» even had a clue to what she was doing down there. My poor bits.
Never ever again. Will never ever recommend to anybody. Cheap price. Cheap service.

I went for my first Brazilian wax ever. She did a great job at distracting me and getting majority of the hairs off. However I did notice that there were a lot of hairs that she missed because it’s probably too short. But she could’ve plucked it. Overall very clean place, calming atmosphere. Just wished I checked beforehand to make sure it was perfect

Most painful waxing experience I’ve ever had!
I came to Stripped hoping for a cheaper, quicker alternative to Sugarbox, and while they did provide on those two fronts, the waxing itself was pretty awful. I’ve been waxed quite a few times, and was really shocked at how uncomfortable the whole thing was. The waxer ripped off large sections of my skin, and the experience was incredibly painful. I was swollen for a few days, and then had large red patches that had to heal. I can see by other reviews that this isn’t necessarily a shared experience, but it certainly scared me away for good.

This was my second time at Stripped. The quick/​efficient job done the first time made me return, however… I found my hair to be growing back ONE WEEK after I had a Brazilian done. Lots of in grown hairs which means my hair was just ripped from the surface, and don;t tell me its because my hair is weak. I think that’s impossible for the down-​threre area. ALSO, there was a red spot on my inner labia which hurt during intercourse. not what you’d want while on vacation with your significant other…
On a side note, I could plainly see hair still in the region that had not been taken away. I felt like the job was half-​assed. You get a wax so you don’t have to shave, and think waxing would take care of that but not here.

Having had such a horrific waxing experience at a competing wax bar and reviewing it, I thought it was only fair to share an excellent one.
I visited this location after quitting the previous wax bar I went to, the location is perfect, right on 4^th, the décor is tasteful and funky and I was able to make an appointment with ease (next day). I was a bit nervous after my pervious experience, and honestly, I shouldn’t be, I’ve been waxing for 10+ years but after a few bad waxes in those sensitive lady areas, anyone would be.
Thankfully my waxer, Jill was A-​mazing. We chatted about my hair type and, my biggest peeve, because I’m naturally quite blonde, hair tends to get missed around my knees and ankles — which drives me crazy. She had great attention to detail, had great bedside manner and made the experience painless and comfortable.
If you’ve had a bad experience with waxing or are new to the idea definitely make an appointment with Jill — you won’t regret it.

Don’t go here. I went for a french wax, it was fast, but it really stung and I left completely red… so many broken blood vessels and even some wax left behind that I had to go home and promptly clean up.

So I just went here for a half leg wax yesterday and I am 100% satisfied! Here’s why!
I basically had 20 minutes to be in and out if I was going to make it to my next appointment on time and was thinking there is just no way, but I was wrong. The actual service was spot on, they use good quality ingredients, they are super fast and they never double dip a wax stick so I found it incredibly hygienic! My esthetician was friendly and knowledgeable and there is free parking and plenty of street parking too!
Need I say more?

i will not go back again! this was my 3^rd time being there and being unhappy… I have been going to frilly lilly in yaletown for many year and always have received 5 star service. today, they made me wait for a long time… the technician did a very sloppy job way too fast and left a big chunk of hair where it needed to be gone. I’m pretty angry right now as I am also developing a sort of allergic reaction to their wax as I did before… feeling very uncomfortable right now… will never go back again… it is not cheaper than frill lilly… I just chose this place as it is 2 minutes from me… I think I am just writing this as a note to myself NOT to go back there…

I agree with all the other reviews, it’s fast, clean and never awkward. Just the best place to go if you want to lose some hair.
There’s never a long wait for appointments, just call and they try their best to give you one as soon as possible. The space is great, lovely purple and just quite efficient. Once you get there, there might be a 1 – 2 min wait before the expert comes and leads you to the room. You get a few moments to undress and get comfortable, and then it’s just a few moments before it’s over. It’s sometimes a bit too fast, because me and the hair remover are having a great conversation but then I already have to leave :)
If you’re new to waxing, or have been doing it for years, go here. They ease you in, explain everything if you want to, give great advice, and if they know you’re not new to waxing, they won’t waste your time with details.

I waited a while to write this review for two reasons:
1. My life has been crazy
2. I wanted to see how the hair grew back in.
I got waxed here for the first time about a month ago, and it was the first time I’d been waxed in my lady areas since I was about 16. I wasn’t feeling nervous about it, really, because I remember the pain not being THAT bad before. I’ve since given birth and so I was thinking «Well, shit, my vagina can totally handle it». Turns out, it absolutely can, especially at Stripped.
This isn’t the kind of place that will soothe your nerves and have you breathe and count and etc. They lay you down, and rip, rip, rip, you’re done. They don’t tell you when it’s happening and they make sure it’s quick. There were a few sensitive spots but DUH, it’s your genitals. The girl doing my wax was totally cool leaving me a little strip and made sure it was even and centered, and charged no extra for that. She gave me a great run down of how to ensure best results over the course of the hair coming back in without upselling me on their products.
⁴⁄₅ weeks later, I’m still near hairless, and have had no ingrowns, discomfort, etc. I’m definitely going to make it a regular appointment.

Ok, so i’ve preached the bible of Sugarbox previously but I do believe we have a new contender in the mix.
I was getting frustrated with having to book so far ahead with Sugarbox and couldn’t get in for an appointment on the two days I had free. So on the suggestion of one of my favourite cohorts, Azia T, I gave Stripped a call.
Number one plus — I had an appointment like — kapow! No wait, next day. Like freaking magic.
Then I promptly had to miss that appointment. Now with Sugarbox, this usually means a cancellation fee but at Stripped, it was simply a lovely email suggesting open times the following day. Seeing that I can be a bit of a space cadet, this was a huge plus.
Two — The price. $ 38 for a brazilian? Holy heck. To be honest, the biggest thing I was wary of was the price. I don’t generally seek out the bargains when it comes to my most delicate of areas and the price tag made me think this might not be top notch. Turns out — completely the opposite. The price is simply a welcome surprise for a wax well done.
Three — The loot! They sell Hanky Panky lingerie in the store. This makes me an automatic fan — although, regular rise would have been a double high five/​double rainbow moment. Some ladies do not enjoy low rise anything, I prefer my butt crack to stay within my garments, thank you very much! But it’s nice to see they carry it, as well as, a few other lines of super adorable undergarments.
Plus, they have their own line of after waxing products made for them, so they can be confident important things like PH balance and other factors I don’t quite understand are met, or maintained. I grabbed a small bottle of Calm Down as my sensitive skin is notoriously wimpy when it comes to wax and I am SO happy with it.
It didn’t hurt that the bottle, plus my bikini wax, still came in $ 5 under Sugarbox.
The one thing I will say that Sugarbox bests this haunt at is on a strictly personal level. Not to say that my waxer at Stripped wasn’t ok — she was quite nice and totally efficient. I was in and out within 15 minutes with good results. She was informative about their product line without being pushy (in fact, I asked about it, instead of getting a sales pitch first… which is nice). But my experience at Sugarbox was definitely more… familiar. There’s something about Stripped with it’s big white corridor and their wham bam thank you ma’am speed that lacks Sugarbox’s charm.
That being said — i’m super happy with the job, the appointments are dead easy to snag, the place was clean and bright and I’m in love with the product line. And it’s surprisingly affordable.

Wax on wax off — this place is top notch.
I’ve been coming here for a while now and am feeling pretty bummed at the fact I have to give this place up since I’m moving cross country soon.
Every time I’ve come it has been a great experience (as great as getting all the hair ripped out of you can be)
The space is clean, comforting and designed well. The staff here are EXCELLENT and the prices are incredibly decent.
I’m a VERY picky person when it comes to hair and hair removal and have tried a great number of places within this city and Stripped has had me coming back over and over.
When I say the staff are excellent it’s an understatement. Jill is FAN-​TAS-​TIC. All the staff are but my experience with Jill today was above par. Every time I go in they are fast without being sloppy. They make you feel comfortable while still being super friendly and very attentive. She asked me each time if the wax was an okay temperature, and when the hair was being stubborn she checked to see if I was okay with her tweezing, I was getting the essentially stripped package and she thankfully started from the bikini and moved then to the legs, and said she would get the most painful out of the way first.
I cannot tell you how many times I have gotten waxed where they’ve left the most painful to the last so the buildup is awful.
I’ve often found that if you have a few stubborn hairs salons will leave them, and barely make an effort to try to remove them. At Stripped they take they’re services seriously and Jill was the most efficient experience I’ve had. She made sure to get every last strand, and tweezed the stubborn ones all away.
I also was not left covered in patches of wax which I find most places leave which leaves me stuck to all my clothes and walking awkwardly home after.
Another point I love about this place is that they are never pushy sales people about their products. I really don’t want to be having hair ripped out of my body while you give me the schpeel on the newest product and then feeling guilted into buying it.
The prices here are crazy good. I suggest you go get everything done now before they realize how inexpensive they are and raise the prices.
For the essentially stripped package with a 20% tip it came to $ 100 dollars. I’ve gone and had brazilians for over 65 $ with tip, and they didn’t include service nearly as good as this. Not to mention that for all that hair removal I was in and out in 50 minutes flat. They do not linger with the pain they get straight down to business and do a wickedly good job
I’ve only visited the west 4^th location but could only imagine that their other spots are similar.

As a regular brazilian waxee, I needed a place that can get the job done right for a decent price ($ 38!!!). Stripped has both those areas, and mine covered.
Having endured experiences ranging from the hour long, unskilled, leave you with leftover fuzz wax, to the pro 15 minute, chat you up while they’re down wax, I was so relieved to find Stripped. They are total bit waxing pros, it’s what they do all day.
Stripped books appointments in 20 minute slots (likely longer for newbies) so you know you’re in good hands. The wax is quality stuff, and they have the option of a hard wax brazilly ($ 45) if you’ve got sensitive skin, or just prefer it.
Never an awkward moment when in the hands of a skilled professional. You’ll feel as close to relaxed as having a brazilly can get.
They also have male services, so if you’re looking to get your man to return the favour (or just seeking payback) book him in for a manzilian.
