St Regis Fine Wines & Spirits

We were looking for a specialty alcohol shop to fine Canada craft beers that we could take to our hotel room and this place came up on Unilocal.
It said it was in the St. Regis Hotel but it’s actually located down the stairs next door in the Granville Station. It’s not a huge store but decent sized. They had a good mix of beer, wine and hard liquor which was well organized. The prices seemed a little pricier but not by much and you’re probably paying for convenience. No one really said anything to us as we walked around and they didn’t look too friendly.
They didn’t have much beer that you could buy without getting a six pack. We ended up getting to large cans of Mill St Brewery vanilla porter which was pretty good.
If you need some hard liquor, a six pack or just a bottle of wine… a convenient place to grab and go.

I got service with barely a word and no eye contact from the young woman behind the counter, and that included me asking for a mini-​bottle of Grand Marnier that they keep out of reach. Not a great experience.

I live in the building above and it’s very convenient for me to grab what. I need when I have friends over. The prices are standard cold beer and wine store prices you pay a little more but I am happy to pay for the convenience. The staff is friendly and they have ice and mix so it’s a one stop shop of your making cocktails

A little more $$$ than other stores, however, you’re paying for the location more than anything. Great selection, well organized store and very helpful staff. I had to pick something up here before a dinner party. I don’t know much about wine, however, they were willing to help.

You had a long meeting at work. You’re exhasted and need to pick up a bottle of wine for your dinner. St. Regis is right inside Granville Skytrain station, how very convenient.
Just a quick walk away from the ticket machines so it’ll only take a few minutes. Great for those late nights when all the liquor stores are already closed too!

How convenient is it to have a liquor store in the skytrain area? Dangerously convenient. If the Donnelly bars had a liquor store — this is what it would look like, minus the douchebaggery, cuz the staff were super funny and nice. I learned that you are not allowed to open your alcohol IN the store, but they will gladly wrap it up for you in a nice brown paper bag for you. Be warned though! As soon as you step back onto the city streets of Seymour and/​or Granville, I guarantee you there will be one cop on every street corner excitedly awaiting you to step out there and take a big swig from the bottle you just bought so they can laugh in your face and pour your drank out on the street in front of everyone. This is why you have to walk away from the liquor store first.
St. Regis has a pretty decent selection of beer and wine and also some of the hard stuff and a few mixes (like Clamato) if you are actually going somewhere where you can mix drinks — which I was by the way, I was just really thirsty, and couldn’t wait. I mean who wants to show up at the party sober? Not me! Road pops all the way!

Super convenient for a night out, if you’ve forgotten your beverages and are wracking your brain as to where the nearest BCL is. Very well lit, friendly staff and super clean.
Lovely selection of chilled wines, a few bucks extra is ok by me if I REALLY feel the need to get my drank on and don’t feel like paying bar prices for a crappy glass of house wine.

A liquor store that is underground! I think this is right below the Hudson condo complex, and is on the walk to and from the Granville Skytrain Station.
It’s a quiet store, meaning that there was not a lot of peeps in the store, even during lunch hour. The store itself is very clean and brightly lit, with a good selection of beer, wine and spirits.
The downside, as you may have guessed, is price. What can you do when the BC gov’t does not give retailers and restaurants a bit of a break? Not a whole heck of a lot except to charge a bit of a premium. At this store, it looks like it’s anywhere from $ 2-​$ 9 depending on whether it is wine or spirit. That said, the store is convenient/​y located.

Open until 11 pm. It’s very clean, bright, and the staff are always nice and greet you upon arrival. Close to the Bay Downtown, it’s almost hidden as you need to take a left at the Granville entrance (when heading for the sky train) then take the stairs down and it’s on your right.
It is a bit pricy, as most cold beer and wine stores are, but it’s cold, convenient, and sells everything you could want when in need of an alcoholic beverage.

An underground room always scores extra points with me. Possibly because:
a) I like to drink before noon, and being underground lets me pretend that it’s evening outside.
b) I’m a species evolved from an earthworm or mole variety.
c) Underground is a novelty for me (After living in Florida and Texas with limestone grounds that don’t allow for basements)
The server was new, but very nice. She wasn’t able to name all the beers on tap, but she went through at least 10, and I had plenty of options. We had a large group (20+), but we were able to reserve the downstairs room. The upstairs looked nice too, with some intimate tables.
I tried the nachos (one of my life staples) and they were great. They come in a heaping pile. A little overwhelming at first glance, and definitely something to be shared. A large bowl of sour cream and salsa (a little more like pico de gallo than salsa, but a good flavor) accompany the heaping pile of chips.

St. Regis is very conveniently located underground, in the Granville Street Skytrain station and carries a decent selection of, you guessed it, fine wine and spirits, along with a variety of the usual and unusual brew. The staff is always friendly and it is never really busy here. I like this store because you almost never have to go outside to get there!
