This place is just what Unilocal suggests for a 3 star review — A-​OK. If you want a premium spa experience be prepared to pony up $ 200+ for a service at the shangri-​la or willow stream), but if you are looking for an OK for your $$ spa then this place will do the trick.
I went for a massage on a Sunday and there must have been 30 people in the waiting area alone, which didn’t make for the most relaxing atmosphere. In fact, I had to stand and wait for my service because there was absolutely no seating available.
I appreciate the fancy rooibos tea drink they have, and they offered me wine after my service, which was great. My RMT was 7 months pregnant and asked if she could use unscented oils on me, which was fine. I felt bad because isn’t that backwards as to who should be getting a massage? I felt I couldn’t fully enjoy the massage because i felt too guilty being given a rub-​down by a woman who probably felt she could really use one!
I will go back when I’m feeling too chintzy to go to the willow stream, but not my 1^st choice for relaxation.

They gave me a bruise on my thigh and that’s why I give them a 2 star. 1 star for the awesome atmosphere where you can absolutely feel relax and 1 star for their patience and drinks they offer.
I’ve been to a few spas before and this isn’t one I would say I love. I have to say I do love their décor and the whole atmosphere. But when I went to use the showers, the ones downstairs were out of order and only one that works was upstairs. Due to the high volume of people using that one shower, the body wash, shampoo and conditioner were pretty much empty by the time I walked in to use it. I usually allow the RMT to apply oil on me when I do a full body massage but I would also like to have it removed before I leave the place.
They did grant us access to the pool and the sauna rooms. But the pool wasn’t easily accessible. So to me that was kinda useless.
My RMT lady was this tall skinny lady (don’t remember her name) who was really nice and patience with me considering I had to use the washroom before walking in. But I guess bone rubbing on bone just hurts. She did apply on a fair bit of pressure which I thought I was able to handle for the top half of my body. But when she got down to my thighs I couldn’t stand it no more and told her to lighten it up. She did end up lighten up for a bit but went back to the same pressure as before. But it was already the end of my session so I pretty much just brushed it off.
Overall, my experience wasn’t the best especially when I noticed a bruise on my thigh when I got home. But I guess it really depend on when you go and who you get to do your massage. I do suggest you to grab a gift card from Costco before going. It’s like a bit cheaper. Like pay 80.00 and get 100.00 worth of a gift card.

Had a gift card that was purchased back in January for my birthday. I finally got to use it and was extremely excited. I booked myself a scrub which was fantastic. Unfortunately, at checkout, my gift card didn’t read. The gift card was purchased in North Vancouver, but apparently the transaction was never recorded. The desk spent ages trying to find any proof of purchase for about half an hour. I also had to call my friend who bought the gift card to explain the issue. My friend then spoke to Spa Utopia to confirm the gift card was genuine. Didn’t help. Their ‘warm and welcoming service’ soon turned Into doubt that perhaps I was trying to pull a fast one on them. I insisted repeatedly that I was no con. The manager told me that Spa Utopia was a ‘big company’ and that they’ll try their best investigate the problem. They eventually requested that I pay upfront and would be refunded if and when proof of purchase was made. I was totally miffed at having to do this without guarantee that they’d succeed. I reluctantly paid over a hundred dollars for my birthday gift and left deeply upset.
However, the manager called out just as I was about to exit via the lifts, and told me that they may have found a trace. They immediately refunded my money.
Personally, a ‘big company’ such as Spa Utopia shouldn’t mess up. Their mission is to provide a, professional, satisfactory and top notch experience for their clients in order that they return. This is what the client is paying for and should expect. Unfortunately, this never happened. What began as a lovely experience turned very sour. Too few apologies and it would’ve been nice had they offered some compensation for my inconvenience and stress. I raised the matter to customer services but have yet to hear back. Immensely disappointing. Never again.

I just had a pedicure done here the other day, the staff were all very personal and friendly. The appointment was on time and went smoothly. Unfortunately, the next day after I woke up I noticed my pedicure was smudged. It appears that the polish didn’t dry completely which can happen and that didn’t bother me, and spa utopia was very helpful in rescheduling a new appointment for me. When I arrived it was vey obvious they were squeezing me in between other appointments. At first they tried to paint over their mistake which made the smudging worse and so they had to remove all the paint on my one toe. This made for a very hasty technician and my service much longer, and once the final clear coat was put on it appeared to have glitter in it and now I have speckles of glitter on another toe. The technician even pointed it out! I didn’t say anything and said it was okay because a 20 minute process had now become 45 minutes and I couldn’t wait any longer for it to be completely redone. again. As I left another employee (the manager in charge? Blonde, fake green nails) said «make sure you are careful this time», no apology, no concern if I was happy this one round, and super passive aggressive after I felt I was polite and compassionate. It was super entitled and seemed like they felt more obligated than empathetic in correcting their mistake. Maybe Spa Utopia should be more careful next time.

If you need to be pampered and need some quiet and relaxation time, then Spa Utopia is for you. Here is how to get the best deal: go to Costco and buy their 100 $ gift-​card for a value of 125 $. It is a high-​end Spa/​massage place with a salon inside Pan Pacific Hotel. There are snacks such as almonds, apricots, banana chips, dried cranberries available in the lounge area. There are lots of tables and chairs, comfy couches and a fireplace that creates a soothing and relaxing environment for you to enjoy your day there. Drinks are also available; tea/​coffee/​juice/​wine etc. Their services are wonderful and provides pretty much everything you’ll need; shampoo, conditioner, body wash, curling iron, blow dryer, shower caps, basic toiletries, sandals etc for your few hours stay there. They also have dry sauna, wet sauna, private room for bigger groups, double massage rooms, pool on the 8^th floor in the summertime. Price is slightly higher than the usual massage elsewhere but you get what you pay for and its absolutely worth it. They also offer complimentary makeup as well. Make sure you book ahead of time for your massage/​mani-​pedi/​facial appointment. If you want to avoid paying 30 $ for parking, then sky-​train is your next best bet (just get off at waterfront terminal station)!

Having been to pretty well every nice spa in town I can confidently say that Spa Utopia is a solid choice. I tend to visit this location more frequently in the summer than in the winter because of the amazing outdoor pool and deck that you can access as a guest at the spa. It’s a massive deck for you to sunbathe on and has an epic view of the water and north shore.
The massage therapists here are well trained and the facility is a perfect little hideaway from the daily grind. The change rooms are well kept and all of the staff are friendly and respectful. The men’s changeroom has pretty much all your needs for grooming with the exception of hair gel for some reason so I tend to bring my own. Locally this spa sits in my top 5 during the winter and top 3 during the summer. For the price, environment, cleanliness, and amenities, a solid 4 stars.

I have been going to Spa Utopia at the Pan Pacific for over 5 years now. I go every 4 – 6 months on a Friday night and get the Classic Swedish Full Body 50 minute massage with an RMT (reg price $ 120+tax). I use Costco cards to pay for the massage, which gets you 20% off the regular price, and cash for the tip (you cannot use gift cards for tip). Included in this price is your massage, a glass of wine after and full use of the facilities, including the hotel pool in the summer.
I still go here basically because of the Costco discount and the convenience of the Pan Pacific location to the Westcoast Express, despite a few really bad booking mistakes, where I’ve shown up and they either don’t have my reservation or they’ve cancelled it without notice, and some terrible customer service from the blond manager woman at this location. Thankfully the good experiences outweigh the bad, so I’m willing to stick with it.
The facilities have always been lovely in mind, and I usually feel relaxed and refreshed once I’ve left. I love the fact that there are both dry and wet saunas in the change rooms, nice showers with fancy shampoo/​conditioner, an area for doing hair/​make-​up with body lotions and the tasty cucumber water. Change rooms can be busy, my tip is to ask for a locker upstairs, as it keeps you away from the busiest areas. There is a lounge to hang out in pre/​post massage that is also very nice, with some nuts, tea, and dried fruit.
I think that as of late the reason they’re having a hard time keeping up with appointments, experiencing busy change rooms and not keeping up with cleaning of the change rooms like they used to is that they are a victim of their own success with the Costco gift cards. To optimize your experience try to book on weekdays/​evenings to avoid busy times.

Wow…I have to say that when she was done, I looked A-​mazing! I got so many compliments. Thanks Rachel for making me look HOT!!!

I came to spa utopia for a body wrap. I wasn’t expecting miracles but I was hoping to look or feel a bit firmer before my beach holiday. I measure myself every week. And of course I measured before and followed every rule. In my service my measurements at the end showed that I had lost inches and I looked in the mirror and saw absolutely no difference. I thought OK I must be wrong but I got home and I had not lost any inches. I’m not sure how spa utopia runs this service but I felt extremely disappointed and it was the biggest waste of my money. I wish they wouldn’t fool people and offer this service. Very sad:(

A few months ago I had some gift cards to use at spa utopia. I had no idea what service to get and seeing that I am an RMT, I didn’t really want a massage. I had heard the spa’s facials were great so booked the utopia signature advanced facial. Boy was I impressed. Loni was exceptional. Not only did she have a vast knowledge of skin care, but I was at ease with her for the 75 minutes. I learned things about my own skin and she recommended some daily things I would benefit from doing that really made a difference. This service was both relaxing and rejuvenating. I look forward to booking with Loni again in the future.

I am not generally a spa regular, but I do enjoy going every now and then.
This spa is pretty nice. I have experienced nothing but kind, polite staff. I also have never experienced anything but impressively clean facilities. That being said, I have only been here on weekdays, and haven’t experienced the busy weekends that other reviews have touched on.
I have had a couple of massages here, both times with an RMT, and both times were great. They were both able to really get the tension out of my shoulders, and both RMTs stuck around to give me some tips about how to deal with the issues I experience around that.
It is on the pricey side, but you are paying for ambience and environment. I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of going to a spa. Remember to grab gift cards at Costco ahead of time to help offset the cost a bit. Just remember that you cannot use the gift cards to handle any gratuities.

After my kind boss treated all of his female staff to the spa in dec 2014 (I was sick that day) I have to say I was prepared to be skeptical and negative after hearing how my platonic co-​workers were made to undress in front of one another at their appointment instead of being offered separate change rooms. That and when I arrived early today and having never been here before, was directed by the lobby info desk that I could go down the stairs or elevator (I chose stairs) and then took a left to get lost in no-​mans land. Frustrated I back tracked and accidently located it. Not the best relaxing start.
And then today during the appointment the lovely technician suggests that I could have come hours and hours early to use the 5^th floor (?) salt water baths (free for spa attendees and hotel guests). Why hasn’t anyone told me during my reservation?
Anyhow. Once I arrived (exhale) and the sweet desk person took my coat and scarf and checked my two new toothbrush packages for the two friends I’m meeting later (she said she would put them in her managers office) I finally was ready for the relaxation to commence.
A quick tour, a towel, locker and spa slippers to wear I quickly changed with 7 minutes to spare and then sat rope wrapped in the relaxation area where dries fruit and tea and water stations along with couches and magazines were situated.
Robin arrived after I made a quick bathroom visit and she then escorted me to a room down many a hallway. I had a full body wrap with foot massage over scalp (my hair was up and I figured feet would be easier), a shower and then lotion rub down.
I loved it. Wow. I wished I were rich so I could come back more often. (This was my first time to a spa)

I have visited the pan pacific location twice since my friends recommended me this spa. I only tried the RMT massage but had great experience from both therapist. And Whitney is better so far and I felt so relaxing after the massage and my shoulder pain gets improved a bit. The staff there are very nice, and I think for the price I paid for, it’s worthy.
But I can’t rate 5 stars for the following reason:
1． There is no email or telephone call reminder for your next appointment. I really expect more for a pricey spa like this — because I just forgot my next appointment is tomorrow or Sunday.
2. When you call to make appointment, one of the staff wasn’t that nice and I almost think «forget about it, I won’t come here». She’s pretty rude when I first called in told her it was my first time. She got my name wrong, refused to book for me — told me no appointment for 2 people which I checked the on-​line system that there were two available. I insisted she check it again and then she can’t deny any more.

when i booked my appointment, I requested a female RMT and it’s available. However, just now I was told it is a male RMT which I found it very ridiculous. It happened to me on my second visit that i asked the name of the RMT during my booking, but when i got there, they gave me another RMT which I am lucky that Whitney is really good！

Other than the men’s change room, there’s nothing else to complain, I’d be back again in a heartbeat.
After all these Unilocal reviews and eating out, I just needed a great R & R, and a well deserved one. Being in the Pan Pacific, I expected nothing but the best. The retail stuff at the front desk, I just ignored, eager to jump in to check out the facilities.
The initial area to sign in with a hostess was pretty basic, then showed the waiting area with a few sofas, and today, quite a bunch of ppl are wearing their white robes lol, about 15 or so just mingling around. Free nuts, banana chips, raisins, etc which I definitely avoided, and tea available.
So off to the individual rooms, which were as expected to be decked out in a warm, soothing environment as well as the corridors.
Appreciated the small touches, like putting some extra warm towels for my shoulder blades while lying face down on the table. Oh, the massage? Recommend Megan, knew what she’s doing and terrific scalp massage. Next time, I’m going for the deep tissue, need some pain. It was so relaxing, I counted about 3 – 4 times I dozed off for a bit, in just 50 min. session.
and impressed how the table actually turned into a chair as the therapist used the power options to make me more comfortable with varying angles.
But the men’s change rooms; even Steve Nash gym had more room to move around without bumping into one another. Nice touch with the shaving blades, foam, Q tips… but no hair spray, gel?
Another highlight was using the hot tub on the 8^th floor of the hotel: incredible views of Burrard Inlet and the North Shore. Just nothing else except water, as pic shows ;)

Normally I wouldn’t go to a spa to get a haircut, but since I had gift certificates to use and Spa Utopia offers hair salon services, I made an appointment here for a cut and an Expressions scalp and hair treatment. When I called to make the appointment, I clearly said that I wanted In the end, I never got my scalp and hair treatment, the Expressions treatment. When the spa called to confirm my appointment 2 days before, I confirmed again that I wanted the treatment and the caller confirmed it was noted on my appointment sheet.
The stylist was courteous and professional (to a point) but not very communicative about what she was doing. All I got with the haircut was a shampoo, brief scalp massage and a blow dry. I kept thinking there was more to come until she took the cape off me and walked away. What about my treatment?! After all that, I never got the treatment. That was disappointing.
As for the haircut itself, the stylist was professional with me in the beginning while she decided how to cut my hair. She told me she would give me something different, then proceeded to cut the back of my hair only, not touching the front at all. She blew dry it with a volumizer and styled it nicely. But then she was visibly put off when I asked her to make an adjustment to the cut. In her view, it was «already perfect».
Although she did trim my hair as i wanted, she stopped being professional and didn’t even bother to style it again before she curtly thanked me for coming and walked away. Really?! It’s my hair after all and since I have to live with it, I should be satisfied with how it is cut. Her change in behaviour was really uncalled for. After all that, I was not very impressed by my first experience at Spa Utopia.

One of the nicer spas in vancouver. The appointment was booked a few weeks in advance (requested 2 rmts for a couples massage.) Being a Saturday afternoon, the spa was packed. The nice thing about the ladies change area is that it’s two floors so it can accommodate lots of people so it doesn’t feel too crowded. However the waiting room was so busy. Dragonboy and I had to wait for someone to leave for us to get a seat. They offer plenty of refreshments including their signature tea and dried fruit.
The massage itself was good. Although I remember they used to have heated comforter blankets. Now it’s just a regular thin white blanket… boo.
Went up to the pool afterwords. The spa was so busy they ran out of keys to the pool so we had to be escorted up to be let inside. The pool was packed. Lots of families with kids. Amazing views but again, lack of seating.
Overall a nice experience. Would recommend going during the weekday if possible as it’s less busy. One of the top spas in vancouver with great amenities.

I’ve been here several times and their service has always been great!
The downside is that it is so busy, you usually need to book weeks in advance if you want to get an RMT massage for more than 1 person.
I’ve only tried their RMT, but it’s a great perk that I get access to their pool, their steam room, and showers. They have a really nice relaxation lounge and a really nice general area to get ready. They have hair dryers, straighteners, cotton swabs, body lotion etc. It’s definitely very luxurious, but compared to Hotel Vancouver, I would say Hotel Vancouver’s Absolute Spa has way nicer showers, eucalyptus steam room, and you can book an appointment with them a lot easier without such advanced notice. I also personally enjoy their RMT’s more.
Staying back on track though, I came to Spa Utopia with a couple girlfriends and it’s great to hang around, swim around, have some snacks, drink some champagne and I can spend a few hours of relaxation.
Their front desk service is absolutely the best though!

I would say Spa Utopia is so relaxing and classy which a good place to pamper yourself.
We walked in and the front desk girl greeted us then asking us to fill out application form. She gave us a quick tour of the lounge (fruits, snacks, chairs, etc.) and showed us the changing/​locker room.
As requested, we arrived 45 mins early then got changed. I had an organic tea and sat at waiting area to watch the people kept coming in. Wow, such as busy day.
I like that hotel spa facilities, clean and high standard of service, steam/​sauna and high quality of bath towel and robe. It’s really make you so comfortable and relax.
My RMT was great, he has over 10 years’ experience. But, 90 mins massage was a bit painful.
Overall, the atmosphere made it up and got covered from the company. Good enough.

Ok, so full disclosure here… I’ve been a huge fan of Spa Utopia for years. It was my favourite spa in the city. Loved the ambiance, the quiet, relaxation, steam/​sauna; all good.
But on my most recent visit I wasn’t as happy with the experience. The fresh orchids they used to place everywhere are gone, the warm down-​like comforters on the treatment beds have been replaced with what I can only describe as hospital-​like blankets and they seem to just try to pack people in now. It’s not as clean or well maintained as it once was and the quality has gone down.
Not only was I disappointed with the overall experience, I felt a little short changed with my treatment. It just wasn’t the blissful 75 minute escape it used to be. The room was too cold, there was no aromatherapy (just scentless massage oil) and I didn’t walk out floating on a cloud of relaxation. Sadly, I’m going to have to find a new ‘favourite’ spa.

I’m a little on the fence about Spa Utopia — for one reason — I feel that the prices do not always reflect the quality of their services.
I’ve been to Spa Utopia in both Langley and the Pan Pacific locations and have similar views for both locations.
My most recent visits have been to the Pan Pacific location, so my review will relate to those visits. I went for several different treatments on three different visits: Massage, Haircut and also for the Bella Contour treatment. They had a promotional offer for Bella Contour so I thought I’d give it a try. I would not go back for this treatment, as I felt that the results were so minimal that I couldn’t justify the cost, even at a deep discount. Perhaps if you have several thousand dollars to put towards this type of service, you might achieve measurable results, but for the one I did try, there was no noticeable difference that would entice me to shell out more money for follow-​up visits.
The haircut I got at Spa Utopia was extremely disappointing and I would not go back for any hair service there. I booked with a «Master Stylist» but I felt I got a very junior-​level quality cut. It was ok, but my stylist seemed so hesitant and unsure of herself when I asked for something ‘different’. I left with a shorter version of my exact same haircut, even though I told her I trusted her to give me a new look. Oh well, I guess I will just keep looking for a more confident stylist.
The massage service was really amazing, I have to admit. It’s hard to critique the quality of service I received, it’s just so much more expensive than any massage I’ve ever received before (20% higher). I know that the cost of the service is indicative of the environment /​atmosphere of the place, which is indeed very nice & relaxing, but still… it’s not a place I would go on a regular basis. I suppose if I was earning six figures, I would feel differently.
I still have another gift card to use here, so I will definitely be back — but when it comes to forking out my own hard-​earned cash, I think I’ll save that for somewhere I can more easily afford.
