Soma Studio is a registered massage therapy clinic dedicated to helping our clients enhance their well-being and overcome any physical limitations. We provide therapeutic massage treatments in a professional, caring and comfortable environment. Our two studios are both warm and inviting spaces that will provide a welcome refuge from your busy day.
All of our highly-trained registered massage therapists will utilize a variety of therapies and techniques to ensure you receive a restorative and healing registered massage based on your specific needs. Soma has several therapists certified in pregnancy massage, postnatal massage, yoga therapy and baby massage.
We also offer easy online appointment booking and gift certificate purchase for our clients. Prenatal massage clients will enjoy our body pillowing system for a safe, comfortable and deeper therapeutic massage.
History
Established in 2000.
Founded by Lori Johnson, a RMT and yoga teacher, Soma Studio is now owned and managed by Lori and Denis Martel, RMT. Over the years Soma Studio has developed a strong reputation in Vancouver for pregnancy massage, with thanks to a gifted group of prenatal therapists and a special body pillowing system. However, all of our RMTs provide therapeutic massage services in a wide range of techniques for both women and men — and even babies.
In 2012, Soma Studio opened a second location in East Vancouver near Commercial Drive and the Hastings Sunrise area. Several of our massage therapists now work at both locations.
Meet the Business Owner
Lori and Denis M.
Business Owner
LORI — Healing through massage is Lori’s lifework. In addition to having over 20 years of experience as a massage therapist, she co-founded her first massage therapy studio in 1993 and opened Soma Studio on her own in 2000. Lori helps her clients to find ease in their bodies through deep tissue massage, therapeutic exercise, and yoga therapy. She continues her massage therapy education into alternative techniques that will benefit her clients.
DENIS — For the last 10 years, Denis has been working to help people with physical trauma and it was through his trauma training with Bodynamics Denmark that he realized he was drawn to treating people with massage therapy. This started his journey at the Westcoast College of Massage Therapy in 2006. Denis utilizes deep tissue muscle treatments in conjunction with muscle energy, contract-relax, Swedish massage and trigger point therapy. When these modalities are combined, they are of great benefit in treating overuse or traumatic injuries.
