Saviour of the Nations Lutheran Church is a new Christian congregation in the Victoria and Fraserview communities of Vancouver, BC. We are building a multi-cultural, diverse community committed to growing in God’s Word the Bible. You can learn more about us by getting involved in one of our community small groups, by joining one of our God and Me information classes about Christianity, or by joining us for worship on Sundays at 3pm. We are located at 1634 E. 41st Avenue, Vancouver, BC.
History
Established in 2009.
On a cold Sunday evening in March in 2009, thirteen people met with Pastor Geoff Cortright in Boundary Bay Park for the first time to worship and consider starting a new WELS congregation in Vancouver. We chose the name Saviour of the Nations, because we want people of every culture, tribe, race, and language to know we have something that unites us above all else – or rather someone: Jesus the Saviour of the whole world.
For five years, Pastor Cortright flew from Alberta for five days each month to help us work on developing our dream and building a full-time ministry in the greater Vancouver area. We settled first on the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood in Vancouver and later to our new location renting from Wilson Heights United Church on 41st Avenue in the heart of Vancouver. Since those first few meetings God has blessed us with an increasingly active ministry that seeks to meet people like you, where you are at, to learn the love of your Saviour Jesus.
