Manager

Manzar is an old staple of this butcher shop. Long experience with customer service and then butchery has allowed Manzar to understand the desires of customers very well. He’s devoted to providing the customers with a friendly chat while the sale is happening on the side.

Manzar is also the person pushing for modernization changes in the store. The online store just opened thanks to his investment of time and money.

I got a good bottle of wine that goes great with some chicken. So I was on the mission to find good chicken. First (since I was staying at the West End at the time), I went to the Whole Foods on the Robson. No luck. Then I remembered there was a butcher in the Robeson Public Market and decided to give it a try. They were ready to call it a day when I got there. However, they were very friendly and helpful. I asked «skinless, boneless chicken». They said they would prepare the meat whatever the client requested, because «we are butchers». Whoa, i was very impressed with this attitude. I got home, cooked my chicken and ate it. The flavor stroke me. Whoa, I said to myself, «this is how the chicken is supposed to taste like!»

I love this little butcher in the heart of Vancouver’s West End. I am bias as I live here but there truly are not many options for sustainable and ethically raised meat in the West End. Whole Foods across the street only sells their high-end organic meat it seems. I have never purchased meat from that grocery store.
Robson Butcher has a great selection of fresh and frozen meats and a vast array of unique cuts and proteins that you can order in. They have fresh turkey thighs which is unique for most butchers in the West End. Safeway has some turkey but not the same quality and I doubt it is ethically raised.
Regardless, why not help the little guy? I avoid grocery store products whenever possible and aim to purchase all food from local markets and shops.
There are plenty of reasons to shop at Robson Butcher, not just the quality and selection.

The best. I had forgotten how good they were since my last visit when I lived in the West End. So I am back (not in the West End… but back to going here!). I was at Tango’s butcher on Denman the other day and they were so bad… I asked for pork for schnitzel, they promised to hammer it to the thickness I wanted (even told me to come back in 30 minutes while they did it) and the next day when I was just getting ready to bread and fry it for my guests… I opened the package to discover Tango’s had butterflied pork loin, backwards so that the fat/silverskin was on the inside of the loin and I couldn’t trim it off… and they did NOT flatten it at all.
So off I went to Robson who rescued me with their perfectly trimmed and flattened schnitzel-ready pork. I also picked up some other things.
And great prices. Even comparable to Costco but better quality (grain-fed pork!).

Solid 3.5 stars, just for convenience and give the little local guy some business ;)
It only loses half star b/c they don’t carry Triple A beef, just AA for those who are picky like me. But belng local sure helps.
Friends in the area do vouch for their top sirloin, if that helps.

Love this place! Locally sourced products, free-range and hormone free — with a great selection (lamb!). The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable– they are always up to answer any questions. I am lucky to have this gem in my neighbourhood, the best alternative to that questionable grocery store meat.

We don’t eat meat as much as we used to, but when we do, we make sure to stop by this place. They carry lots of local farms’ meats, hormone/anti-biotic free, free-range etc.
The staff are all very nice, and the products are great. Plus, you get 10% off any order over $ 25 so that’s an added perk!

I go here multiple times a week for all of my meat and eggs. The selection is great and the meat is delicious. The guys who run it are all very friendly and always able to answer any questions. I highly recommend trying the sausages and the bacon as well. Can’t wait for thanksgiving so I can order a turkey.

I buy ALL of my meat here. This is everything you want a butcher shop to be.
1) super clean.
2) reasonably priced.
3) good service.
4) locally sourced products.
5) free-range eggs
it’s a family-run business tucked away in the robson public market, and you’d never find it if you weren’t looking for it. but this place is the best place to get meat in the west end, without a shadow of a doubt.

This place is fantastic! I shop here almost daily since I moved to the West End a year ago. Lots of local meat and a way better selection than any grocery store in the area (if you discount the fact that they don’t sell seafood, of course).
Their in-house double-smoked bacon is thick-cut and delicious. I have to ration my self to only eating it once a week. The prices are very reasonable and the staff/owners are very friendly. They are also open 7 days a week until 8 (maybe 9, but at least 8).

I have no complaints about this place, as it was the only butcher open after 6 on a w/end. Parking is at a premium of course, and the selection of meats didn’t seem huge. Prices seemed about average, and our butcher was pleasant enough. We purchased ground turkey for our healthier In-N-Outs, and it was pretty good when not trying to compare it to beef, of course.
As a local, though, I must say I rediscovered this part of Robson as a mini-Korean-Japan. Even this mall reminded me of such. Am I right? It was actually quite convenient to pick up veggies here, too, and the place was nearly empty.
So, I would return here again, especially in a pinch.

Went here for the first time to get food for a dinner party. Got 9 lamb shanks and some beef tenderloin.
Both selections of meat were excellent in quality, and the man behind the counter made custom cuts of both for my orders. I was able to shop at the vegie market while I waited for my cuts.
I will definitely be coming back here. From reviews I thought it would be more expensive, but I was pleasantly surprised how affordable it was. For the quality I’d say this was quite reasonable.
Not cash only, which is nice. Right downtown, easy enough to get to for anyone living in the area.

Sorry vegetarians you need not apply. For everybody else, the Robson Gourmet Butcher is the place for all your meaty-goodness needs.
Located in the Robson Public Market the Gourmet Butcher offers a wide selection of free-range, organic, and hormone-free meats that are locally sourced in the lower mainland area.
They also have a great selection of items that you’re not going to find at Safeway or even Capers. Duck, rabbit, and bison are just sample of what you’ll find fresh daily in their coolers.
The meat comes daily from farms near Vancouver so you know it’s fresh and hasn’t been shipped in from New Zealand. Sure they might be a bit more expensive then Safeway, but I’m okay paying that extra bit knowing my meat isn’t injected with who knows what.
The staff behind the counter are friendly and knowledgeable, always helpful in answering my meat based questions.

Personalized and friendly service with an expansive selection of organic and free-range meats (they make their own nitrate-free bacon and sausages) that costs slightly more than local chain supermarkets but worth each extra penny.
