We left our two dogs here for a 7 day stay while my wife and I were on vacation. Rex Dog Hotel guys went over and beyond what we expected!
— Staff was very friendly
— They accomodated the special feeding needs of our dogs.
THE BIG THING: One of our dogs had funky thing going on with his eye during their stay. Staff at Rex contacted us while we were out on vacation, and let us know of the issue. They asked us if we wanted our dog to go to the vet. I told them yes.
So they took one of our dogs to the vet…
The vet checked out our dog…
Vet prescribed some simply eye crème…
Staff applied the eye crème to our dog everyday while we were away.
Rex only charged us $ 30 for them to take our dog to the vet (on top of the vet’s fees).
Conclusion: Rex Dog Hotel treats your dog (s) like their own. I highly recommend these guys. Their prices are very fair, and the best part is — they take like 100+ photos of the dogs staying there EVERYDAY. :)

We found out about this place while taking our dog to The Doghouse daycare. The owners of the Rex Dog Hotel also own The Doghouse. We received a complimentary overnight stay to the Rex Dog Hotel for being new clients to The Doghouse.
Just like The Doghouse, we did a shorter daycare visit to the Rex to introduce our dog to the hotel a few days before using our complimentary overnight visit to the Rex.
When we walked into the Rex, the place had no dog smell at all, which was pretty incredible considering that they board dogs overnight. If they had dogs there you wouldn’t know it from the smell or condition of the place, everything was kept tidy, and well organized, and in good condition. We were greeted by a staff member right away in the lobby when we arrived. After filling out some paperwork, our dog was whisked away to the play area in the back.
When we picked up our very happy and pooped out pooch at the end of his first visit we also did a tour of the Hotel. They have a small dog inside/​outside area, big dog inside/​outside area, a big dog sleeping area for overnight stays, a small dog sleeping area for overnight stays, dog bathing area, and enclosed private suites. Again, everything well maintained, clean, and well lit by large outside facing windows.
The thing that really drew us to the The Rex as an option for overnight boarding was that they house the overnight dogs together in a large room with many beds, and a staff member sleeps in the room with the dogs at night. Still, large dogs in one room, small dogs in another room. The staff members that stay overnight sleep on a cot in the room with the dogs, which I have been told results on a dog pile on the cot with the staff member. They still have many soft beds in the room, but the dogs like to snuggle up to the staff member.
The Rex also posts photos of the shenanigans the dogs get up to every day on their Flikr account. I really like that I can view photos of what my dog was up to there online at the end of the day, let me indulge in my doggie fix when he is away from me. :)

I have been brining my dog here since he was a puppy, I never hesitated to recommend them to my double income no kids doggie parent colleagues, relatives and friends. Today I arrived to pick up my dog to be in informed ‘as you know your dog has a problem with barking and will no longer be welcome back’. This is the first that I have heard of his problem with barking at hotel rex. In fact, every other time we have picked him up they let me know what a great time he has had. It was a terrible end to an otherwise nice vacation and I am very disappointed to hear that hotel rex did not share with me that they were having issues with him. As his Mom i would have been happy to share that he found him to bark at us as a puppy but we learned this was his way of letting us know was hungry or thirsty. He is a high energy social dog, he tends to eat and drink more than other dogs due to this and we have found so long as he has his food and water bowl out he is happy to give us peace from his barking. I would also like to note that over the years I have owned many dogs, while this dog is one of the more energetic dogs i have owned he is the most happy, gentle and friendly dog i have ever owned.
I would have been more than open to paying to bring in a trainer to work with the staff at hotel rex to uncover whatever issues were causing my dog to have a barking problem to the point of being banned from their establishment — acting out is out of character for him and i am worried that he was barking for no apparent reason and i was not informed. We live in an apartment and there is no way that we would be permitted to live with a dog with a barking problem without hearing complaints from our hundreds of neighbours, to be clear — we have never had any complaints of noise about our dog. Hotel rex, i am very sad that our dog is no longer welcome and that we were informed in this fashion. Our dog is a treasured member of our family and we have no intention of bringing him somewhere he and our money to take top notch care of him is not wanted.

When we went on holidays I wish I had stayed in such lavish accommodations. 24 hr a day supervision, dog water park, constant stimulation by well trained staff not to mention small and large dogs are separated. The place is immaculate .Dogs are taken to their sleeping areas and have either private glass enclosed rooms or sleeping «beds» that look like min trampolines. .Even when they are sleeping there is someone in the room sleeping with them. When you pick up your dog they have a diary of each day so you get a sense of how your pet inter reacted and played with staff and other dogs /​Apparently my dog loved the water park. It is expensive but I would not board anywhere else

I am so happy that I found this place. I don’t have to worry or feel guilty if I need to go away for a few days. My little guy is well taken care of and has a blast when he goes on his doggie vacations. I can check in daily and see photos of him playing with his buddies. I was really impressed at how clean they keep it with so many dogs running around when we took the first tour. They do a great job. And they even have someone sleep in the same room as them at night.

To all the staff at Rex:
Thank you for taking care of Bobby (our Shiba Inu) whenever we were out of town or had things going on at home for the last 4 years. We could tell that Bobby knew every time we were getting ready to take him to you guys. He got really excited and went around in circles. We will miss you guys. We have been looking and looking; and it will be difficult to find a place back in the Bay Area that we (and Bobby, of course) find at the same level of care and quality. We love walking into the hotel and looking at all the photos and looking for Bobby every day when we were away.

We continue to be thrilled with the level of care and service we’ve received from Rex since first using them for our shiba inu Bobby in 2009. He knows when we’re packing for a visit to Rex and is always eager to hop in the car.
We use Rex probably several weeks per year in total, and we’ve never had a single concern with the service provided. If anything, we take comfort in the level of care given to the dogs.
Staff have always been excellent, and we especially love viewing photo updates on Flickr each day that we are gone, so we can see how he’s doing (lots of napping by day 2!).

Olive is one high-​maintenance pooch.
Weighing in at a delicate 2 lbs, she can’t simply be thrown into a pen with other «rough» dogs. And then there’s her anxiety about being left alone… and her specialized grooming needs. It’s lucky she’s so cute.
Karen and the team at The Rex are nothing short of a godsend. I feel totally comfortable leaving princess Olive in their capable hands knowing that she will be safe and pampered until my return.
While I’m gone, I receive regular updates including photos and videos of Olive’s vacation. The knowledgeable staff ensure her training is maintained and she’s monitored ²⁴⁄₇. Her private suite is clean and cosy, and I get the impression she gets lots of cuddles.
I’m beginning to think that she doesn’t even notice when I’m gone.
Thank you Rex Dog Hotel, now every member of our family can have a stress free vacation.

Thank goodness we have a place like Rex in Vancouver! I feel 100% confident in this establishment, in their ability to care for our puppy. The place is clean, staff are well dressed and professional. The tour of the place showed me that both the large and small dogs have a huge outdoor space! They are consistent with posting photos of the guests, and the staff tell me how she did when I pick her up. Best of all she loves going! I’d recommend rex for those that want piece of mind when leaving their dog behind.

The Rex is the only place in Vancouver that I have found that doesn’t give me anxiety when I leave my beloved pup to go out of town. It’s definitely an investment in peace of mind. My dog seems to have no reservations walking in the door, and I love how you can check the photos of the dogs online to make sure they are doing ok.
Whenever I pick her up she smells delicious and is exhausted from all of the playing with her new friends, which is good, because usually I am exhausted from travelling home, too! Four paws up!

Never stayed there myself personally but my 2 schnauzer did. You guys spoiled them rotten. They have that «please extend my stay look on their face» each time we pick them up. I’d RECOMMEND Rex to anyone. Nice facilities, clean & professional & friendly staff members.

My dog gets treated like a rock star here! Our black lab mix is nine years young and loves dogs and people, so she fits in here really well. Our dog has had at least 3 separate stays, some 5 days, some 2 days. I was just glad to see our dog excited to enter the building after she had already stayed there. I ordered her a bath one time, and she has never looked so clean and fresh. The bath has a ramp and is prettier than many spas for women, so my dog got pampered. I love that I can see photos of my dog during her stay. I also noticed that this facility has no odors at all and is very, very clean. The staff is approachable and they spend time asnwering your questions, too.

We board our pup here when we skip town for weekend shopping trips to Seattle.
The place is clean and well controlled. The small dogs are separated from the large dogs. When the weather is nice, there is access to an outdoor play space that includes a mini water park. They even have TV’s streaming Animal Planet shows for your couch potato dogs!
The dogs all play and sleep together in a large room. Private suites are available for your dog if preferred at an additional charge. Our little guy loves being with all the other dogs. At night, they have a staff member sleeping with the dogs over night (they roll out a cot) and I’ve been told our dog is usually the first one to jump onto the cot for a cuddle with the staff member.
You bring your own meals for your dog (they have food for purchase as well) and they call your dog individually during meal time. Feedings are twice a day.
Book a visit and see for yourself. A great option for boarding your dog if your dog is very social. Not suitable for all dogs, especially ones that are prone to anxiety. The staff recommend bringing your dog for one day visit to see how your dog likes the environment.
With tax it works out to be almost $ 60 per night with a short term visit. Walks and baths are extra.
It’s true that daycare is not an option at Rex Hotel. But the owners of Rex also run The Doghouse Daycare (2 locations) which is also excellent!

Bring your small dog there to get pampered while you are on vacation, but if you have a high energy slightly larger dog, don’t bring him or her there because not all of the staff there have experience with handling big, high energy dogs properly.
Ok then, let me rephrase that. This place is a doggie spa and has no focus on training and that’s why my dog can’t stay there. My dog is two and a half and bounces off the walls. Not that I need a place to train my dog for me but I need a place equipped with a certified trainer who won’t let my dog go nuts (like a kid at the grandparents’) while I’m gone.

We like to travel often, and my husband works for GM Place doing concert sound, so we often need someone reliable to take care of our dog. Jack is a rescue dog, and a border collie, both of which make him a loyal dog, meaning he doesn’t want to leave our side, and it also makes him a skittish dog.
The first time we left him with Rex Dog Hotel, we were a little nervous and they put us right at ease. We (all 3 of us — me, my husband and our dog) went on a tour and got to see where he would be sleeping, where he would eat, how it would all work, and meet some of the other dogs he would be «hanging out» with during the day.
We left him there the morning we went away, nervous, but armed with assurances that we could call to check on him anytime — and they would radio to wherever he was and get instant information about exactly how he’s doing.
When we came home, we were a little late getting in, and they delayed closing until we could pick Jack up. We got back this energetic puppy, who was much more a *dog* than when we’d left him, complete with his own engraved name tag.
We’re completely comfortable making a reservation at Rex for Jack whenever we know we’re going to be out of town, and frequently make sure he has his hotel reservation before we do, especially if it’s near Christmas time, when they book up quickly.
