Prospect Point Restaurant

I used to walk up here almost daily from the west end for the bagel and lox or salmon omelette. This place was one of my favourite restaraunts but, I guess it must have changed owners because the menu has completely changed, and what food they do have is terrible. Wouldn’t feed it to a dog. The prices and service are equally bad. I took some friends here thinking we would have some delicious salmon dishes but, while we were there 2 tables complained about their food and then left without eating. We waited 30 minutes for service, they were out of what little they did have, and when we ordered coffee and a snack to hold us over until we figured out where to find a restaraunt that had food, we waited another 35 minutes for cold stale coffee and disgusting cake. We had one bite complained to the owner or manager who just stuttered and stammered a bunch of excuses. Just an all around bad experience. We won’t be going back.

While I didn’t try the burger itself, my 8 year old daughter went on and on about how it was the best burger she’s ever had. If you knew her, you’d be impressed. The restaurant has a rugged build with fantastic views over the bridge and harbor. We had great service, but it wasn’t very busy either. The salmon sandwich and poutine were quite good considering we had low expectations. Certainly a good spot if you want something more than a hot dog and a place to sit down and rest your feet.

The view is magnificent!
Outside dining in this glorious environment is wonderful whether it’s a hot dog or caviar. Come enjoy café food in a park that won’t blow you away but is good for the situation and stay for the beautiful surroundings.

For being an expensive tourist place… 2.5. But I rounded to 3 since it has a great view!

Very expensive place. Great view. I dont believe food deliver any value. Prices are planned for visitors to BC.

5 stars for view if seated by the windows. The staff was friendly. I had lunch and enjoyed the food. Some of the drinks listed on the menu were not available (apple and pear cider). The food was delicious and delivered promply. The seating is small wood tables and some chairs have arms and some are armless. There is plenty of room for a motorized scooter.

They did not greet us when we arrived. We had to wait for a long time, even though there was only one other table there. The table we got was very sticky and the service was very slow. It was not busy, and the other tables still had dirty dishes and cups on them. The view is nice.

I’m honestly surprised by the quality of food for a café in a park.
Years ago I went to the Fish House in Stanley Park and just didn’t like it. This place, however, is pretty darn good!
I had the special, Ribs with sweet potato fries and slaw. It hit the spot after a long day of sightseeing. There is a nice view of the bridge to go along with an excellent meal.
Keep in mind, this place isn’t gourmet or anything, but it is good. It’s not cheap so don’t think dollar menu or anything, but when is anything in Stanley Park cheap?

View is nice. I don’t see how the fish and chips are world famous or that it’s what you should eat here. If it is the best, don’t bother eating here cause everything else must be horrible. –_–

After reading the review of this place … I feel bad not giving it good rating. But I honestly can not give more than a 2 star.
As soon as my friend and i walked into the area, it was no «good afternoon … how can i help you» … it was «did you want lunch or coffee». Oh really?
The eating area was cold … didn’t realize that it was a patio with plastic to cover the open area. There were heaters hanging from the ceiling but it did not heat the whole area except if you’re underneath it.
I found the place very, very plain and not clean. Shouldn’t this place be showcasing the beautiful views???
I had the cod and chips and my friend had the salmon and chips. Tasty but $ 15 for one small piece of cod??? Not worth it.
Service … I must say … was very nice. She was pleasant and was there when we needed her but not enough to give a higher rating.
Now to the bathroom … clean enough but pieces of furniture in there made it feel like it was a storage rather. And there was NO hot water … what’s with that?
The restaurant was so very bare … it did not look like a restaurant when you first walk in. Not enough heaters to keep the customer’s warm …
This place has so much potential! Really … great location, great view … I don’t know why they’re not doing something about it. Can you imagine having dinner with the beautiful mountains in front of you? And they’re not open for dinner! So, so much potential!!!

Gorgeous sunset views here, if you happen to make your way to the northern part of Stanley Park. My husband and I came here during the sunset hours of 8pm last Saturday evening, and it was a treat to see the sun set before our eyes. The lighting and views were amazing, and it was cool to see the bridge in the distance too. There is a café nearby for you to pick up some food if you’d like but they close early so keep that in mind. I think they close by 8 pm actually because we tried to visit but they were already closing.
We saw so many people taking pictures, it started to get crowded. Parking costs $ 3.25 per hour, so you’ll have to pay that in order to park anywhere inside Stanley Park. I think it’s worth the fee though. :)

This is a great place if you don’t mind waiting and someone in your party can run out to the parking lot to pay for additional parking ($ 3.25/hr I believe). Fortunately, the food makes up for the wait.
I had the salmon & chips ($ 16). It was huge! Having checked Unilocal reviews beforehand, I expected a small piece of fish. What I got was a piece of fish the size of both of my fists. The menu said they are currently having a Salmon Festival, so I’m not sure if the large portions were because of the festival or not.
The salmon was also very fresh. The vegetable coleslaw was lightly dressed but so amazing and the fries were cooked perfectly. The chefs deserve a ton of credit. It was a fabulously executed plate of fish and chips. The food alone is why I am rating it four stars.
However, there are two things about this restaurant that I wasn’t happy with. First of all, service took an hour for lunch. I should mention that my fish came only 10 minutes after I ordered it. The problem is the wait staff. There were two servers on the floor with about 7 or 8 tables seated. It took 10 minutes after we were seated for our waitress to take our drink order after we waved our arms to flag her down. Then another 5 – 10 minutes for our drinks. Then another 10 to get the food then another 10 to ask for the bill then another 10 to ask to pay and then another 10 to remind the server to bring over the machine. Oy. Thankfully, the manager intervened so that I could pay.
The second thing is the kids’ menu. All items are $ 10 including drink and ice cream, which is a bit pricey. However, the plates are the same as adult plates and kids are given a lot of food. I recommend making the price $ 6 and cutting the portion size in half. This could be a very good deal though if you’ve got a child that can really eat!
The setting is beautiful, the food is great, but they could use a little help on the floor.

It was a beautiful weekend for a walk around Stanley Park. And hot. Too hot. We needed a pit stop for food and refreshments, and alcohol-​free concession stands are not my friends.
As we arrived at Prospect Point Café, we were greeted by a blast of greatly welcomed air conditioning. We breathed a sigh of contentment and asked for a table for two. As soon as we walked past the reception area and into the dining area, however, we realized that the air conditioning does not permeate the entire restaurant. Out in the dining room, under the sweltering heat of the sun, a few languid ceiling fans were all they had cooling the room. The fans did nothing; the air was stagnant, the table burned to the touch, and my beer warmed before I was half-​way through. On a cooler day, I could see the atmosphere being quite nice, with views of the surrounding forest just out the window.
I ordered the burger with yam fries. It wasn’t inedible. The puck-​like patty was dense and salty, but I did really enjoy the potato bun it came on and the yam fries. The yam fries were double-​fried, dipped in a light batter on the second frying to create a crackly crispy coating. These were addictive, and I probably could have eaten more if we weren’t sitting in such unbearable heat.
As expected at these places, prices are over-​inflated. The burger with yam fries was $ 18, and $ 7.25 for a pint of Granville Island. It’s fine for a stop while you’re enjoying a day out at Stanley Park, but would never make a destination out of this place.

The Prospect Point Lookout offers one of the best views in Stanley Park.
From the top of the lookout, you are presented with an unhindered view of both the Pacific and North Vancouver. The view of the calming ocean in conjunction with the grandeur of the mountain backdrop is unmatched and breathtakingly beautiful. We had the pleasure of visiting here while a street musician for Er Hu (Chinese string instrument) was playing beautiful music, quite a fitting accompaniment to the scene. There is also a café and gift shop in the area which offers visitors’ a chance of dining while enjoying the scenery.

When I was up here, it was ok. I’d parked the motorcycle in the lot, «Walked This Way» (A /​RUN DMC) besides the park view and into this place. Good first impression and then I get to my table. The more time went by, the more I realized this table lacked a good wipe and rocked slightly. The food was good, also my chai, I believe I’d gotten and the service was good enough. One of the overhead fans was spinning off-​center. Soak the view in before you go; might as well.

It sits in a beautiful wooded setting. The woody smell reminded me of camp. Sits very close to the lookout. We biked here from the Seawall for brunch on a late Saturday morning. The place was empty. There was one other family there.
After the awkward exchange with the lady behind the counter who was clearly learning English, my husband ordered the meal with two eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. He also ordered a coffee. I had the ham omelette meal. The ham was actually bacon. My husbands meal cost more than mine, but I ended up having the same exact meal… but more of it. My omelette was bigger than his two scrambled eggs. Just go with the cheaper omelette! I found the food to be acceptable for sustenance, we were hungry and we needed to eat. It filled that purpose. If I want great food, I likely won’t be going back.
We got quite hot while we were eating. I did notice someone setting up a fan as we were leaving.
I honestly didn’t even know they had wait service here… it was non-​existent on our visit. We weren’t sure if we were supposed to clear our own dishes or not.

Lovely view, great place to take visitors on a gorgeous day and show off the glory and splendour of Vancouver. Sometimes there are buskers there setting music to the scenery. It’s awesome!

We went to the Prospect Point Café looking for a pre-Valentine’s brunch.
First impressions: great view! I like the atmosphere there, very west coast, real wood, totem poles, a glass roof and right inside our gorgeous Stanley Park.
We were seated right away.
Our server Shawnean was awesome from beginning to end! Always smiling, checking on us, and she even told us a bit about the history behind the restaurant.
To eat, I was told by their GM to try their salmon bennies and I sure did!
They were actually pretty good! I always appreciate a good benny and mine were great! Good hashbrowns, the hollandaise was good (some places make it too rich or thick) and the smoked salmon with green onions was really great!
My husband wanted a club sandwich which they didn’t have on the menu but they made it for him and it was quite good. Lots of meat and a huge order of fries.
For dessert we got the chocolate decandence cake with ice cream.
Overall, the experience was great, I found the prices a bit high for a «café» but I guess you pay for the view and ambiance. It would really help the business if they reduce the prices a little bit, they have great potential to become a busier location!
The service was awesome! The food was good and they are doing a great job with Twitter.
Rating: I’d say 3 ½ stars with potential for more.
I will be back!
