On the Drive Midwives is an established midwifery clinic providing complete and personalized care to Burnaby and Vancouver women and families through all stages of pregnancy: labour, birth, and to six weeks postpartum. Our goal is to empower women and their families to experience the childbearing year with knowledge, confidence, and joy!

History

Established in 2005.

On the Drive Midwives opened in 2005, as Commercial Drive Midwives, the first clinic of its kind in East Van. In addition to providing home birth services in Burnaby and Vancouver, we currently attend births at BC Women’s and Saint Paul’s Hospitals.

‘s My interest in midwifery began in 1984 at the home birth of my nephew. It was at this birth that I truly understood the incredible support midwives could give to birthing women. In the following years, I gave birth to my three children and educated myself in the Art of midwifery. I practiced as a La Leche Leader running meeting for several years while nursing and raising my own children…

Corine S

I attended a midwifery assisted home birth at age twelve, and since then I have always wanted to be a midwife. I graduated from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario in 2001 with a BAH in Women’s Studies and Health Studies. Following this education I began the Midwifery Education Programme at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario.
