We bought a Groupon for this restaurant. Place was not full but busy. There were lots of selections but we only had eyes(or in this case, taste) for the the butter chicken and the tandoori chicken. Salad selections were good. I wish the food were hotter. By the time we got to the table, our food was already cold. Butter chicken was very good and we definitely had our fill. What I like about this place is that they constantly refill the food. It’s a pretty good value as we bought the Groupon. Aside from the salad and main dishes, they also have fresh fruits. They charged us 18% tip based on the full value. I think this is pretty steep considering it’s a buffet, but I guess they have to somehow make up for the cheaper Groupon price. Parking is free after 6PM on weekdays and all day weekends. The entrance is off Willow. This is definitely a plus.

Came here with the $ 20 Groupon for 2 people. The place was quite big actually and we didn’t know there was parking underground but you can access it off of Willow and it’s free after 6pm on weekdays. Service was pretty minimal since it’s a buffet. You basically go up and grab your own food. They had a decent selection of food but I was looking forward to having some Aloo Gobi(cauliflower and potatoes with curry) which was not there. However, they did have Naan, Butter Chicken, and Tandoori Chicken which are the most popular Indian food. Tried a bunch of stuff but I really just liked the Naan and Butter Chicken so that’s what we stuck with for the most part. The food tastes way better when it’s newly made and put out fresh since it’s nice and hot. Otherwise, it gets cold quickly and it’s just not as enjoyable to eat. Finished off our meal with some fruits. They had pineapple, honeydew melon, and cantaloupe. We were so full by the end of our meal… Had wayy too much butter chicken haha but we got our Indian fix for the next couple of months. :P Thought our bill would be mostly taken care of already by the Groupon but they actually charge 18% tip(which I thought was ridiculous) So we actually had to pay $ 7 on top of the $ 20 Groupon. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good price but I was just shocked that they charged us $ 5 tip considering it was self-serve! But I guess that’s just how they make up for it. Probably won’t be back for dinner but it was nice to try it out. I prefer their take-out lunch specials which are only $ 6.25 and you get rice with Butter Chicken, Naan, a salad, and a side of your choice. Food — 7⁄10 Service — 7⁄10 Ambience — 7⁄10 Value — 8.5÷10

My brother and my nephew had driven up from the states for the day and my nephew requested that we go to New India for lunch as he missed it while away in California.(We have been dining with you for the past 8 years). The server was great he seated us and checked in on us frequently. On one such occasion my brother mentioned to him that some of the food was cold. He said that he would check with the kitchen. A Man came out wearing a white apron and was telling us that we were wrong. He then went on to argue with my mother who was at the buffet. Then when we went to pay he came up to the bar area and started an argument with my brother. It ended with him calling my brother a(pardon me) «A F****** J*** A**» and then ordering us out of the restaurant.

New Indian has got a pretty good buffet set up. Their curries are really quite good considering how they need to be produced in very large batches. My personal favourites are their butter chicken and palak paneer(A curry with spinach, tomato and cottage cheese). While lines can get annoying when this place is crowded, it does ensure that you generally wind up getting the freshest batches of food possible. The naan is especially good then if you could get your hands on some(Naan almost always disappears as soon as it arrives) If you are going for All you can eat, it would be wise to go for lunch rather than dinner, as it is cheaper for lunch, and they will provide refreshment such as chai and nectar, whereas they don’t for dinner. If sweet beverages aren’t your thing, this place also serves beer at some pretty generous prices(i.e. generous to you– the beer is quite cheap) For what you’re paying for, this place gives you quite a deal. While I only mentioned 2 curries, I think there’s around 12 of them at any point in time.

Solid 3 stars. Maybe 3.5. I think I have driven by this plaza a million times but never paid attention to anything there. Purchased the AYCE Groupon and went with a friend on a Wednesday night. AYCE parties are seated together and I would say a majority of people were there for the buffet. A continuous flow of patrons throughout the night. FOOD I wouldn’t say any of it was super delicious. It kind of felt like cafeteria Indian food where you can sample as much as you want. Definitely enjoyed the variety, though. Butter chicken and curry were my favourite. Did not see the rice pudding and the naan was mediocre at best. It was dark but I believe the view of DT would be nice in the morning/afternoon. Overall, nice place to visit especially given the reduced pricing for 2. But not sure I’ll go again. NOTE: Servers were more than adequate but I noticed the manager(?) treating his staff aggressively in front of customers…

Authentic Delicious Indian Style food. My favourites here are the Butter Chicken, the Lamb Curry, Naan Bread and the Gulab Jamun. While dining you get a great view of the Downtown core and of our beautiful North Shore Mountains. Something funny and not so funny at the same time … the bench seats that are seemingly bolted to the floor … are NOT! OMG be careful because they do move and can tilt back. Funny because you can get the scare of your life when you start to fall back and recover yourself … not funny if you actually do fall! A little on the pricey side for what it is. However they don’t limit you to what you can or cannot eat. So to get your money’s worth, I would suggest filling up on the yummy protein dishes. I cannot follow my own advice though hahaha I love the Naan Bread! The staff are so friendly and super nice. The ambiance is serene. The restaurant is well maintained and clean. the bathrooms are upstairs and there are no lifts for those who are not able to get up the stairs easily or are in wheelchairs.

wanted to try a new place and got a Groupon for this Indian buffet. Went around 6pm and the restaurant is packed. It’s a self serve buffet. But all the meat dishes was missing all the meat and only sauce in the tray. I met a bunch of angry patrons by the buffet isle waiting for them to bring out the meat and fresh naan. My second time to get food I finally got some lamb curry. My first bite in the food I got a corner piece of a plastic bag. I got the owner come to my table and he said«ya it always happens… We’ll try not to let it happen again.» Not the response I was looking for. Then by my last plate I got some jello. I got a cockroach in my jello. I brought the plate to the owner and he said«having a bad day eh?» He laughted and walked away. Then I was forced to pay 15% tip for not sure what type of good service I received… So if you want sketchy food with plastic bag and bugs in it and force to pay tips… This is the place to go.

Really great food, unfortunately for the price $ 17 per person, they do not bring out naan fast enough, and when 1 dish of naan comes out, all the diners flock to the buffet line like seagulls. I do not know how naan is made but I think a more efficient system can be put in place for naan production. May not come again.

I read through some reviews before I decided to come here. I must say I was weary at first given what some people said about the service, but frankly, the service was very good; same for the ambiance. Instead of playing the same old cheesy Bollywood music they had Indian/jazz fusion melodies. The establishment is clean and well lit with lots of windows and a pub-like appeal. Now for the food, well it was good. Far from amazing but not bad either. It was a bit on the watery side and you might think the chef is vegetarian from the way the meat dishes differ in quality from the veggie; but still you end up enjoying yourself by the end of the meal. There is plenty of selection and the veggie dishes are pleasant. Oh, and chai tea is part of the $ 15 buffet. I’d certainly recommend this place if someone is looking for Indian food close to the downtown. My better half and I enjoyed it.

Me and my bf we really liked this nice and quite place. There is no line to get the food, no crowds, very good place to have a dinner. All dishes are really tasty. Not over salted and not very spicy. I loved Butter Chicken, Egg Curry, samosas, so yammy! The restaurant and washrooms are very clean. The staff is friendly, but we waited to pay our bill. I had a groupon and I will definitely come back! :)

Went in on Thursday at around 2:00. Lots of seating and they are very laid back, you can sit wherever you like and get right into stuffing your face with Indian goodness. Decent variety for dishes, not sure how often the lineup changes… flavors were good, you can’t compare mass quantities to made to order entrees, buffets will lose everytime. My only real complaint was that the food got cold quickly once I had it at the table, and I’m a fast eater. Next time I will go for the $ 6 lunch to go. Great place to come with friends who also like to overeat. $ 15 hard to go wrong!

I’ve been here a few times and it’s ok but nothing to write home about. Sometimes the food sits there in the steam table for hours so by the time you get to it it’s all dry especially the fried things. They should put less food more often rather than a lot of food a few times and that way it would always be fresh and hot. This place is good if you want a quick bite to eat.

a lot of variety even on a Monday night, everything was fresh and delicious. the staff was very friendly and quick with bringing drinks and picking up used plates. especially liked the huge selection of vegetarian curries as well as the naan bread! can’t understand some of the bad reviews for this Indian buffet.

Great spot to go for lunch! A bit of a hidden gem with an amazing view of downtown Vancouver. Food and service are average, but the location, view, and atmosphere is amazing.

Unfortunately, we had 2 Groupons for this place, both for a dinner buffet for 2 adults. I came with my mom the first time and recently with my husband. I think this place is a 3 star(A-Ok) if you have the following understanding/expectations: –this is a 2 star buffet, don’t expect anything more –this place bases a lot of their business off of Groupon deals, which I find is never a good sign(and if you use a Groupon, they put in the fine print a mandatory 18% charge on the original price) –you just want to eat a crap load of indian food and with various curries to choose from –more like a cafeteria style I gave this place a 2 star because: –no one should ever be serving rotten fruit or wilting veggies/salad. I mentioned this to the staff in my first visit and was very disappointed that they were still serving rotten fruit and veggies in my 2nd visit –service is lacking and overall a bit confusing(though the servers themselves are nice enough people) –they didn’t have everything they advertised on their website, like the first time i did not see the rice pudding and i did not see mini samosas in neither visit. Nice things: –they seem to have a lot of variety in their curries –i thought the butter chicken was decent –egg curry was spicy I probably will not come back and am just glad I was able to rid my Groupons.

Absolutely bad food. Everything tastes the same. The service doesn’t need to be good at a buffet, but boy is it bad. Not sure we will return.

You can’t go wrong with the buffet for $ 18, it has all you could ask for. Occasionally you’ll get stale man but usually it’s fresh. The Unilocal coupon makes it extra worthwhile. On a sunny day the patios great too!

I saw this on the front page of Unilocal by another reviewer(March 8th), therefore, book marked it. It was her picture of the dessert plate that won me. They’re open daily until 10 pm, therefore, there was no immediate pressure to get here during the day which was appreciated. It’s tucked away in a strip mallish locationon W.Broadway. The ambiance is busy but still tasteful to some extend, lots of seating. The buffet is expensive at $ 20 per person, therefore, my suggestion is that don’t fill on the carbs like the rice and naan and go for the meat and the potatoes of the dishes. Lots of curries to choose from. In terms of taste, the right spices were used. There is a nice view of Downtown from the seating location. Very friendly easy going staff. The music was modern fusion Indian music. There was even an Indian Version of Cold War Kids in sound. Indian hipster music?

The first thing that caught my eye was the dining space — there’s plenty of room for large families and group dinners. The staff was easy-going — without saying a word, they let us jump right into the buffet. However, it doesn’t hurt to ask if customers would like a drink. The buffet was nice due to the wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian curries. One thing’s for certain: do have your fill of their unlimited self-serve chai, coffee, and juice, because it’s included in the buffet. It’s very rare to have drinks included in buffets. I will definitely come here again whenever I’m near Broadway. Would I recommend this place to others? For sure!
