They have all the vinyl that I remember and some that I have never seen before

never make the mistake of selling your records or cd’s to neptoon, first of all you are poorly greeted as if they are doing you a favour by taking the records off your hands, I had three full boxes which i took very good care of, the owner picked through them and picked a few out of the bunch, so i guess their tactics are for you to leave the rest of the records with him for free and then he can search through them at his own leisure, so like a stupido left them all with him because we are trying to declutter, I talked to other people about their tactics and they fell for it too, I have never in my life have i ever been felt so ripped off and pissed off i will never ever ever again set foot in NEPTOON YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Posters. And mostly records: new, used, like new of oldies and the latest. Pretty well-​organized and easy to browse through. I could spend a couple hours browsing through this place, especially through the discounted records boxes. Prices for the discounted records go as low as $ 3 a piece to $ 10 or $ 15. New and like new records go for a bit more, but you can still find some classic hits for ~$ 15. Check it out, especially if you’ve got a bit of time to casually shuffle through the vinyl.

The best record store in the city. Friendly, family owned, super knowledgeable folks and the best new vinyl prices in town. I’m in Red Cat once a week too and Neptoon is always cheaper. All genres represented and they get fresh stock of new vinyl all the time.
Great place to spend some time on Main

One of the premier spots in North America for silk screened rock posters (new and vintage). These guys know their music and memorabilia. If you’re interested in psychedelic era posters, particularly from Vancouver’s Retinal Circus, Rob is the man.
Neptoon has a great selection of used records, cds, dvds, cassettes, and a small but very interesting selection of books and oddities.
Also check out the frequent in-​store events. These guys are very connected to the live music scene in Vancouver, friendly and always willing help you find what you’re looking for.

This store sucks. The employees are careless assholes with no respect for their customers or their records. The used records are filthy, and the new ones are overpriced. I have watched employees handling records by the grooves — something no fan of vinyl, or competent record store employee, would ever do.
I do not recommend this store. Keep heading south on Main to the pretentious hipsters at Red Cat — they’re dicks, but at least they care about their records.

Independent records stores are my kryptonite. Neptoon has a great selection of the type of music I usually look for. Rarities, obscure bands, and limited edition copies of records. I also do appreciate the vast sale section containing records priced mostly between $ 1 and $ 5. I’ve found many records here that are well-​played in my collection.
This quaint record store could be a lot better with a bit of a re-​organization. There are many additional crates of records stacked throughout the store, and the front area contains many titles which are not going to be found unless you get down and go through all of them. I love scouring records for odd finds, but I don’t always like to look for individual bands in my wishlist in several sections throughout the store, and then repeating the same search the next visit.
I also find many unpriced records which makes shopping a little slower. It’s not a huge hassle to have to ask, but sometimes it just goes back in the bin.
I’m sure they’d be more than helpful, but this would take the load off of store staff as well.
On the other hand, maybe it’s all a good problem to have. They have a LOT of records.

This has got to be one of my fav record stores anywhere. So far only Taz in Halifax beats it. ;) The thing I like best about this store is its *huge* selection of (good priced) new records. And their used ones are great too – in good shape and good price.
One tip is to pay with cash though, they give you a discount if you use cash.

I’ve been shopping at Neptoon ever since I moved to Vancouver and have to say it is the best spot in town. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, the bargain bin is always stocked with great finds at fair prices, and if they don’t have something your looking for they will do everything in their power to order it in. I highly recommend checking this place out if your addicted to vinyl’s or thinking about starting a collection. But make sure you give yourself an hour to look around because their is a lot to absorb.

I’ve been shopping there for a little over a year, however, never thought about writing a review until now. There are a few reasons which keeps me coming back.
1. There is always something new in the store that makes me interested in coming back for more whether it is new releases, older rare records or stuff dumped in the bargain bin for quick listens.
2. Very friendly and laid back staff making it less intimidating for those that don’t know much about music.
3. The prices very, however, very reasonable in comparison to other places on both the rare and bargain bin selections.
4. For the décor reminds me of High Fidelity and very old school mixed with hipster cool (but not the annoying kind).
5. Bands occasionally play there which makes it somewhat of a social hangout.
6. The customers who come in or music fans and open to discussion which makes it a good atmosphere. There are questionable characters that come in, however, even those are fun.
7. It’s a good way to blow a paycheck as music is my drug, however, don’t go when you’re poor and go with the intention and expectation of walking out with a lot of records.

Solid shop with reasonable prices.
If you are only in town briefly and have a chance to only hit one record shop I guess this would probably be the place.
Run by a father/​son team, the atmosphere is relaxed and customers are treated with respect and kindness.
The best part of going there is that they always have boxes and boxes of new arrivals every week to sort through.

I cringe slightly when I think how much cash I’m gonna blow in this store, but the vinyl, oh the vinyl is calling me…
I LOVE this record store. Everything from the teal green building to the babe that works there that looks like Velma from Scooby Doo, with tattoos.
GREAT selection of used records as well as a fairly current new section with a good selection of local music like White Lung, Nu Sensae, SSRIS, The Pack A. D etc… I may have hit them at a good time because I have seen previous comments saying that mostly its all rock and rap, lucky for me I spotted all manner of goodies that spanned a number of different genres.
The owner was really nice and even recommended somewhere for us to have brunch. We came back the next day for the (8!!) bands they had playing during the Main Street «Car Free Day» and he recognized us straight away and came over for a chat.
Neptoon has to have by far the best selection of music/​band posters I have ever seen. Often band posters are just kinda lame, but they have a killer selection of limited prints with really amazing artwork on most. They don’t tend to be cheap (some being around the $ 40 — $ 50) mark, but they are well worth it for a die-​hard fan or as a gift for someone.
They also have a fun box full of 50 cent buttons that mostly look like they are from the 80s and made me giggle more than once.
I love the space in this record store. Its not a huge building, but the layout is totally conducive to being able to take your time to browse through everything without feeling hurried. I could spend a good few hours here and quite enjoy hanging out. Plus, there are often live bands jamming in the corner, making it even easier for me to while away my afternoon at Neptoon.

Neptoon has a huge selection of new and used vinyls, free and monthly music publications, and a very informative staff. Its a great place to catch a free show on occasion, if you can get in the door. They sell local concert tickets without any slapped on fees and theyre willing to put up a poster for your band if you ask them nicely. I only discredit them by a star because of their lack of ecclectic tastes. Ionly discount a star here because most of the shelf space is dominated by rock and rap, but I guess thats what the demand is for after all. They also dont seem to have anything thats impossible to find elsewhere in Vancouver, although Ive dug up a few rare punk and folk re issues for totally reasonable prices. As written though, they are a great place to catch a live act, when you can.

This local music Mecca carries a mindboggling variety of records and used Cds for hours of auditory pleasure. Along with their own Neptoon Records label, the store carries anything you can think of and if they don’t, you can always ask the very knowledgeable and seasoned staff to see what they can dig up for you. I am a huge fan of the fantastic selection of music nostalgia in the form of concert posters, handbills and various memorabilia (original 1972 Rolling Stones tour book anyone?). A fun place to peruse the day away and discover and rediscover new and older talent.

It’s hard to imagine that too much choice could be a problem, but that’s how I feel when I go into Neptoon Records: overwhelmed by an embarrassment of riches. I haven’t really checked out the CD section of this store, but the record collection is extensive and often they’ll have just the thing I was hoping for. I also find that the people who work at this laid back store are quite knowledgeable and helpful. I doubt that anyone who enjoys a range of music could ever be disappointed by coming here.
