Description

Specialties

Monkey See Monkey Do Montessori is an enriched Montessori program for preschool and Kindergarten aged children (2.5−6 years old). We follow the curriculum standards and pedagogical methodology as set out by the Montessori Training Centre of B.C.

We also incorporate extra curricular activities such as Spanish, music, arts and crafts, physical education, gardening, field trips, and social celebrations into our program.

The children leave our program being able to read and write a short story; with an in depth understanding of math and the decimal system; and a sophisticated knowledge of geography. More importantly, they leave our program with their passion for learning intact, lots of self-confidence, good problem-solving capabilities, a high level of independence, and positive social behaviour.

We specialize in happy children and happy parents!

History

Established in 2007.

We opened the school in 2007 in Dunbar Heights United Church and have been in operation with full classes ever since. The classroom is located on the bright, second floor of the church (we are not a religious school; we just lease space from the church). We have a full set of quality Montessori materials as well as access to a large gym and a garden with a sandbox. We have two fully trained AMI Montessori teachers who guide the children in the class.

When we first opened, we did extensive renovations in order to create a safe classroom which was conducive to a preschool and Kindergarten setting and which met the building code. The renovation included building a new washroom and kitchen space.

Recently we installed a new carpet, new cubbies, and had the classroom professionally painted. The classroom looks great!
