This one is located inside UBC, therefore, expect somewhat clueless disorganized students, actually this is no different than any other McD’s that I have been to but this seems to be the worse. Thankfully I came here mid afternoon for coffee and to bum the wifi to work on my zine. I just happened to luck out on a table which I had to share as this location gets super super busy.

Well, it’s a McDonald’s. Assigning a rating is almost pointless. You know what to expect. I believe it’s the only place on UBC campus open 24hrs. For better or worse, sometimes you need some of those delicious fries or an apple pie crammed into a caramel sundae at 2am…

This place opens 24 hours and is super busy from midnight to 3 am. Wondering why people are not in bed at that time. But i guess its a good place to go for snacks.

Everyone needs to experience this McDonald’s. My college buddies use to refer to this place as «the UBC after party.» On Wednesday nights(after Pit nights) and on Fridays after 2am, it’s an absolute gong show. For awhile, this was the only place students knew about at UBC that was opened past midnight for food. Now on certain days Pita Pit’s opened until around 2am, and recently they opened a Fresh Slice so the crowd’s toned down a bit. Like most people, I’ve been to many McDonald’s in many places. But I can assure you, that no McDonald’s I’ve been to can beat this McDonald’s for people watching. I wish I had photos to show, but after 2am it starts becoming a McDonald’s trash apocalypse — cups, bags, containers all over the place. Dudes passed out on tables, girls yacking in the bathroom, people getting smacked in the face with flying chicken McNuggets. Many beautiful(okay, sometimes regretful) relationships start here. What better way than over a sprite, McRib, and impending hangover to meet your next significant other, right? The food’s what you’d expect. That’s not the interesting part. What’s cool is that with so many students from other cultures and countries, after a night of binge drinking we all get the munchies for McDonald’s. Come late night Wednesdays and Fridays, the entertainment is phenomenal. You can’t get this awesome of a show for the price of a McFlurry anywhere else.

Food was great(6 nuggets, fries and large coffee frappé) but everything else sucked. Every statement had to be repeated from start to finish — including asking for it to be for here. Pay attention. Ugh

Eating breakfast here was a poor life choice. I immediately regretted it. They only get one star here for the fact that they’re open 24 hours. At first I thought having a public washroom was a bonus, but it means homeless people use it as a mecca for I can’t imagine what kind of personal grooming and entertaining activities.

Maybe I came during a shift change but there was only the manager at the till complaining to the back where the other front counter person was. I had to wait longer than 4 minutes to get my McDouble and Junior McChicken and small root beer. McDonalds is super consistent usually and this was the most disorganized McDonalds I’ve been in. They also have no ice cream at this McDonalds, only Milk Shakes. But it’s the only McDonalds on campus and it still taste like McDonalds. So 3 Stars it is!
