There’s several Mantique stores around town. Around New Years Eve, I stopped in one, to take a closer look at all the dresses they had in the front window. The dresses were definitely for going out– lots of sparkly stuff. All the tags I looked at were over fifty, but less than a hundred. So not nearly as outrageous as I’ve seen in similar type stores. They had the typical top 40 music playing, watchful sales staff, and though it was fun to browse around I can’t imagine getting much here.

Mantique is a fun spot to browse for clothes. With the amalgamation of labels I often find plenty of variety in the styles and price range. Don’t let a look at one price tag fool you: I’ve purchased dresses on sale for $ 25 here. In this particular location I was in recently looking for a pair of jeans. The sales guy was very helpful but I was in a rather picky, apathetic mood(and I tried to tell him in a friendly way that I was shopping with incredibly fastidiousness). Nothing hit the right note. After suggesting four pairs of jeans and hearing my protests, he just backed away slowly. Do stop in to check out the cute items. Just be kind to the sales people; they’re fragile!

Mantique carries designers that you would usually go to a separate store to buy like Guess, Peguin, and XOXO. The great thing about Mantique is you can get all your shopping done at the same place. They have a great selection of casual fashion clothes. Maybe not the stuff that you would wear to work, but stuff you could definitely wear out! Their prices are reasonable and comparable to other retailers that serve the same sort of market. The sales staff is pretty decent — yes it is true that sometimes they are into their own look rather than helping you find yours — but that’s what you get with the people that work at these types of stores.
