Had brunch there last Saturday. The cheese and bacon burger was really good but the Irish Poutine was kind of uninspired — reasonable gravy, unremarkable cheese, and only okay fries. The Guinness was, as always, perfect. Merian’s fried egg was crusty, the bacon was dry, and the toast wasn’t toasted. Will probably try again for dinner sometime but I’m not in a rush.

What a huge venue and a perfect location. One of the most beautiful spots in Vancouver, which is right at Coal Harbour. Absolutely gorgeous view, lovely decór, friendly staff and amazing service. Our server a few nights ago, Sahara, was attentive and went out of her way to please us. I so much wanted prawns but the prawns they had came with some not so favourite spices and ingredients, so I asked for a simple dish with garlic sauce, and it was spectacular. The best garlic prawn sauce and prawns I’ve had to date in Vancouver! Her friendly demeanour was tremendous and just simply comforted us with satisfaction. I will definitely be coming here with a larger party as the place is just oozing with fun!

Visited with the wife twice in September ’15. We were staying at the Holiday Inn on Broadway and Unilocal!showed this as one of the closer spots for a drink and something to eat. The reviews raved about the view and being new in town, we thought it would fit the bill nicely. A bare ten minute walk later and we were down on False Creek. Place looked warm and welcoming from the outside and is certainly pretty impressive once you’re through the door. Huge, high and airy, it’s the epitome of everything a real Irish pub isn’t. Sparkling glass, polished wood, etched windows and a great outside deck. There are two floors and we were lucky enough to get a table on the upper level, with the aforementioned views laid before us. It had been a long day, so I just plumped for a couple of pints of local IPA and bangers & mash, while the wife chose wine and the potato soup. All was most satisfactory. Second visit was a couple of days later and here we drop a star. For starters the upper floor was booked out for a private thrash. No worries, plenty of tables with a view on the ground floor. Or so I thought. In the end we were shown to a table not far from the door, with nothing much to look at. These things happen, but if you let the corporate crowd push out the regulars and/or occasional visitors, there is a price to pay. Food was OK, though my steak was average only. Wife reported her salmon as being just fine. Overall I’d thoroughly recommend the place, though it might be wise to check it isn’t booked out before travelling any distance.

I would say they meet the real-estate’s rule of «location, location, location»! This patio is a must on sunny Vancouver summer evenings but the lack of heat lamps makes it for a rather chilly experience if you visit in the Fall… which was my recent visit. The décor inside is very Irish pub inspired, so I would say there isn’t much of an ambiance. We started off with a bottle of Malbec, which was quite decent for an Irish pub known for beers. Then we shared the Calamari and the Salmon Pizza which were both quite delicious. The service was ok, rather slow if you ask me specially if you are getting cold and need your server to move you inside.

No doubt this place is a great location and the valet parking right outside makes it very easy to take your car if you don’t live downtown. First visit here since they changed hands and it’s very different to how it was before. Good pub food but I wouldn’t say it was anything special. I love the location and view. After dinner went for a walk along the sea wall.

This is a perfect diner spot on a warm summer night, remember your sunglasses and grab a spot on their awesome patio. The good is prepared well, with reasonably priced steaks cooked exactly as i ordered. Drinks are an added benefit here, the cocktails are delicious and the beers on tap are a great addition to the summer patio setting. HIGHLYRECOMMEND.

Great patio! It was perfect on Sunday for a day on a patio. It is right on the water and not jammed packed. Lots of umbrellas to avoid the sun if you want to. They have a good local beer selection. We tried a few local beers and enjoyed the scenery! Plenty of people on the water and we even got to watch a pirate kayak pub crawl around the inlet. The food was good. Had raw oysters and the chorizo tapas. Tasty and good to share. Our waitress was really friendly. We walked here so not sure about parking but it is a great destination for a weekend walk along the sea wall!

This was an after lunch hangout, and the second patio I hit on the same day, on a holiday with all the time in the world at my hands. Originally we were to go back to the patio we started at… near the beginning of the day, but a good friend advised we come here, I have not been to this place since the former restaurant shut down years ago, and forgot how breathtaking the views are if you are sitting on this patio. If you are talking about top 10 patios in Vancouver, this has to definitely fall on that list, a place that sits right on the water, right across from BC place, Plaza of Nations, and a backdrop of tall condominiums and the mountains, it is like a postcard, yet if you are seeing this, it’s a postcard you can drink. I overlooked the menu, and yes, I did not come here to eat, my sole purpose was to relax with a few friends, especially a few from out of town to show how beautiful Vancouver can be, and this place delivered. We were lucky on this day to get a seat right on the railings, no one in front, just the view, and the water below us. Time can fly by just looking at the water and buildings, also the drink bill can keep going up while you sit there sipping on whatever drink you decided to start with, and then realize you either have had one too many, or you realize that you need more, it’s a place where time stands still, and for good reason. Whatever your choice of beverage is, they either have it, or a variation of it, stay thirsty my friends, there’s a bank machine somewhere around here! Regardless if you are inside, but really at this place, weather persisting — you should be outside! It’s a great scenic place, not the busiest as it does take some effort here, whether by Aquabus(oh yeah… cool little boat), whether cab, or a real good walk from the Olympic Skytrain station(safety first kids!) definitely a place where you can have a long good talk with a number of friends while taking in all that Vancouver has to offer. In essence this is really a bar, with food, and one where if you are driving here it does take some effort to park the car if you are not willing to valet it… but aren’t all good things a little harder to obtain? If you are not here for the view, well just know this is also a good place to catch the game, as they have enough tv’s to call this a sports bar, and they have a full kitchen, get your eat on, get your drink on. get your game on, and also you do not have to deal with the same crowds if you were across the water on the downtown side! Time for me to go back soon before the rainy months come!

Perfect spot for a few drinks in the water! Great view of the water and mountains. The servers are all very friendly too! Try the Mahony Ceasar or the Stanley Park Pilsner. We will be back during our vacation.

Came here two days ago for dinner. They have a fabulous patio and view of downtown Vancouver. We were a large group and had decent service considering we were also on the patio. The drinks came out relatively fast. I ordered the Irish Stew which is described as «slow simmered lamb shank and vegetables in Guinness demi-glaze with mashed potatoes and garlic bread» for $ 21. When the dish arrived I expected something a bit bigger and more stew considering it’s one of the more pricier items on their menu. I was also rather disappointed that were was skin on the stew portion, which means it was sitting around for a while(probably so our food would arrive at the same time). So you can imagine my dish was not piping hot when I received it, it was lukewarm at best. The meat from the lamb easily came off the bone. No knives required. I expected the lamb to be a bit more tender, but it was still alright. The stew and mash potatoes were delicious and were probably my favourite parts of the dish. The garlic bread was cold and hard unfortunately. The place is great for groups and drinks. They have a fantastic patio with a beautiful view. The staff even got two servers each armed with their own wireless credit card machines to help us settle faster, which was great. But overall, factoring my meal, I’ll have to give it three stars. I would still come back though if I’m in the area.

Cool patio spot. Great drink selection and friendly staff. Worth a check out with groups or so. Hot patrons and dog patio friendly. The toilet paper is like cashmere-sand paper but I’d totes come here again. So chill so chill.

There is no denying that Mahony & Sons has a stunning patio. If I were able to snag a seat on the patio, I would probably come back here – despite having previously experienced a sad, sub-par dining experience. I decided to try the calamari which(on the menu) sounded delicious. Not only was the calamari ice cold when it came out, but it was completely flavourless. The server said it came with deep fried jalapenos tossed in… HA. There was ONESINGLESLICE of a jalapeño in the whole order. Not only that, but it came with that generic sweet Thai chili sauce and a watery, flavourless tzatziki. Instead of creating a unique and delicious dip to accompany their calamari, they opted for the store-bought generic route, and it really backfires here(those flavours don’t even go well together!?). Avoid this dish. On the other hand, my partner ordered the lamb dip and he said it was incredible. What really did it for me was the less than acceptable service. Our server was non-existent for the most part, and when she was around she was rude and short with us. We are not high-maintenance customers… all of our generic questions(«What are the beer specials?» «Can we please have a to-go box?» «I’m still waiting on that water…») were met with an eye roll and a dose of attitude. I dine out a lot, and I always try to be polite and sensitive to the needs/stress-level of the server. I understand we are not the only and/or most-important table in their section; however, I do not think it is acceptable to be rude. I expect human decency and courtesy, above all else. Ultimately, M&S has a lot of appeal – especially for groups. They have an interesting menu, a beautiful location, and good drinks. For me, however, I think life is too short to settle for something you simply weren’t blown away by, so I think for now, I’ll skip the second visit.

The views here are just is STUNNING. If you are lucky enough to get a seat on the patio outside just before sunset, it will make your night. When my mom and I visited, we met up with a couple she knew and the four of us spent a fun couple of hours here. Also, we caught the«Aqua Bus»(small ferry) over from downtown Vancouver, and it was so lovely! Overall, solid drinks selection(including craft beers), good service, decent pub fare, and incredible scenery.

4.5 stars. The interior design of this place is wicked. Good attention to details and color schemes. Staff were friendly and I like the cute plaid skirts the waitresses wear. The mussels were very good. Not overly salty or fishy tasting like at other places. The meat pizza could be improved on… it tasted like cheap quality meat. The patio is amazing here. We will be back to try other things on the menu.

The world is my oyster. And for buck-a-shuck I can have as many worlds as my heart desires. (Well this time I stopped at 8 since I had dinner plans at home). It’s a well done Irish pub with all the regular stuff like beer and wine and a whack load(official measurement don’t ya know) of food choices. No food for me this time, well except the oysters. Good selection this day, shucked very well and presented as they should be. Polite and fast service. Will certainly go back when the sun pokes out a little more and take advantage of that kick-a$$ patio.

Would rather give 3.5, but not a 4. This place is beautiful and a great setting for visitors and groups. No joke, there is a room or seating option for everyone’s tastes: sit at the bar, a booth, a private room, a shaded patio, at the fireplace,. the list goes on. More importantly, the location means it is a carless paradise. Our group arrived by walking the seawall from 2 directions, and 1 part of the group coming by Aquabus. It would be great for cyclist that don’t want to mince with cars. As for food and beer, think slightly nicer Mark James group, and more Irish. My family and I went for a dineout and that was actually a good way to go. It brought the price down to the«hey that is reasonable» and opened me up to trying the chowder(which was awesome). That being said, they chinced out on the dessert size a bit. Here is how you want to approach this place. Accept early that you are going to pay $ 12 for a beer(I may be exaggerating), and that you don’t want a full meal,. just get some soup or something. However, from there it only gets better,. savour what you do buy in the summer on the best patio in the city, and impress your friends by taking them here on bike, or by Aquabus(the stop attached to M&S). In the winter get a spot with a view AND a fire and enjoy the city,. just don’t order too much. Ah hell,. I’ll bump it up to a 4.

Brought my team for dinner during a team leader retreat. There were 10 of us, and we were lucky to be seated in a small private room, with excellent views, thanks to a friend. Although we were there in January, we were lucky to experience a nice evening. I agree with the rest of the reviewers that the patio is quite likely the top patio in town. The service is great, I am sure some has to do with being a slow night. The food overall is great, one of the highlights being the lamb shank stew. Food came up fast and presentation was above par. Drinks were done beautifully, especially the garnishes on the Caesar. Overall I would recommend this place, and come back… best compliment for any food and drink establishment

I dropped in for dinner on a Monday evening. The bar has a large selection of beer, and I was greeted at the entrance by the Irish manager, and served by the Australian barman. The bar is new, and as it was a typical October evening I did not have a chance to check out the patio. I have to admit that I was disappointed, on several fronts. The bar while nice, but it was just like any other«Irish» themed bar, the female servers in short kilts, too many TV’s(if they are going to insist on covering every wall with TV’s, at least be honest and call it a sports bar!), and a very plastic feel about the place. On to my other beef — the prices, the glasses of beer were small, at best a half pint, but they were charging full pint prices. I had the bangers and mash — while they were good, I don’t think 3 sausages, mashed potatoes, and a couple of veg was worth $ 17. I did ask if it was organic — no it wasn’t, so definitely a bit of a rip off. I doubt I’ll be going back.

I think my expectations was too high. A few friends and I went on a Friday night. They didn’t take reservations so we went a bit earlier. We were told it would be 30 minutes for a table of 4 for inside and over an hour for patio. We checked back after 35 minutes and were told there weren’t any free tables. We waited and waited and waited. After an hr or so, one of the four hostesses saw us still standing outside so decided to go inside to check. We finally were lead into the restaurant and she took us to the patio because we waited so long. We walked passed at least 6 empty tables inside and probably 8 – 10 empty tables on the patio. We should have just walked in and sit, rather than wait. They use pencil and paper to jot down the name, they don’t use electronic system for waitlist. Not sure why not. The server was efficient and got our order right away, probably because we waited for over an hour and the hostesses forgot about us. She also brought our drinks within 5 minutes. The food was OK. Not sure when I’ll go back but hopefully its a lot better experience.
