MacLure’s Cabs

After a horrendous experience with Black Top, we decided to bring our business to MacLure’s. Though the dispatcher was slightly rude, our driver was personable, knew the best route, and picked us up within 10 minutes of our call.
So far, one on the better taxi experiences in Vancouver.

We have used this company a couple of times on our trip to Vancouver, and they performed flawlessly. I recommend them.

I called for a cab the night before and needed a very early cab. The driver came right on time and was very helpful. If I’m back in Vancouver, I’ll use them again.

I called a taxi at 11:28 p.m. … waited and called again at midnight. After being on hold again for over 5 minutes, the woman said the taxi that was to come picked up someone on the way instead and asked if I wanted to order another taxi. How is this company in business? I will be thrilled when Über is available here.

The taxi driver refused the tip I gave him… it was all the money I had left. He was rude, raised his tone of voice and just told me to keep it and to be sure to tip a higher amount next time. It was all I had left! Out-​of courtesy he could’ve been just polite and take it. Very demanding and rude.

Called since the had the best of the worst reviews. Gave them my address in Burnaby and was told I’d have to call Burnaby taxi as they only do Vancouver.
Had to clarify if it was called Burnaby taxi and they told me to call Bonnie’s. Oh well

Brutal service. This taxi guy was resisting to close the windows all the way on our drive to the airport. It took 4 times to get him to close both windows. I was very polite the whole time but very disappointed. Brutal.

After convincing the cab driver at 1:30 am in the morning on a Sunday to drive me back to Burnaby after the PIL show (believe me it is a struggle to find any cab driver past midnight willing to drive me down near Metrotown after a show) I finally got him to drive me for $ 25 (no traffic). He was friendly enough and took the quick way. So why the 3 stars if I got there at a reasonable price and fast… it’s ’cause I shouldn’t have to negotiate a ride home after a show when transit on a Sunday doesn’t run past 12:30 and the night buses don’t start until 2 something. I had work the following day.

The absolute worst cab company in Vancouver.
Every time I have had the misfortune of dealing with this company, they have been the most unhelpful and rude service I have encountered.
I am literally counting the days until we have Über in Canada to put companies like this out of business.
I wish I could give zero stars.

The woman dispatcher always hangs up on you without saying thank you or telling you how long your cab will be. Poor phone skills for her. Maclures is great otherwise. Have some manners and be nice on the phone.

Now I know why Über is so popular everywhere else in the country! Booked a taxi online for 2pm, for a client who needed to get to the airport. 2pm comes… no taxi! Called to follow up and apparently when you book a taxi, it doesn’t mean it’s a guarantee that they will arrive at the chosen time. Apparently, because I requested a van, it takes even longer to find one. To sum it up… taxi arrives at 2:30pm! Moral of the story… even when booking online, follow up prior to the time you need the cab and don’t chose MacLure’s when you need reliable transportation.

I called to reserve a taxi the night before to pick me up at 4:00am so I could get to the airport and catch a plane. The woman on the phone said «oh totally no doubt we can to that»
The next morning 3:57am rolled around and the cab was not yet here. I was surprised because in the past taxi cabs are at least a couple minutes early for a prearranged pickup. I called to confirm they were on their way/​knew where to go. The woman on the other side of the phone scoffed at me and said it wasn’t 4am yet.
So I waited the 3 minutes and then I wait 10 minutes more 4:10 comes and still no sign.
My traveling buddy called back to see what the issue was (we had a plane to catch) and the man that answered the phone gave a confused response as if the location we were waiting at had been changed.
We called yellowcab after that and yellowcab arrived within 3 minutes!!!

This was my first experience with MacLure’s Cabs and am very disappointed. I originally chose this cab company because they are pet-​friendly. I knew I had to go from Downtown to the North Shore during rush hour on a Friday so I called a couple of days ahead to pre-​book. The agent on the phone told me to call the night before to pre-​book instead. So the Thursday night, I called and pre-​booked my cab for 4:30PM next day and was able to without any issues. Friday rolls around and I’m waiting at 4:30PM and no sign of the cab. I waited another 5 minutes and then called the company to follow up on my booking. I was simply told that they were still trying to find me a cab because it was so busy. After waiting until 4:55, I decided to give another cab company a try and they were able to send a pet-​friendly cab within 15-​minutes. I also told MacLure’s to call me when they arrive — they never called so I’m assuming they never arrived. Not sure if I’ll use them again.

Believe me, I was hesitant to call ANY cab company in Vancouver what with all the poor reviews. I choose to call MacLure’s because they seemed to have the least horrible reviews.
We had an early morning flight out of YVR so I called at 3:53am for a pick-​up from Olympic Village, thinking that I’d have at least 10 minutes to wait. Nope, got downstairs 5 minutes later and the cab was already there. The gentleman that picked us up got all of our bags into the car and 18 minutes later he was unloading us at the terminal.
Could not have been easier.

Trusted them more initially than Black Top from previous experience so I called them in a rush to come get me from City Square. 20 minutes, nothing. I call back, they send another over. 10 minutes, I get a call that they’re arriving, I go out. Nothing, I call back and apparently they took someone else AGAIN. They send another and it calls me 20 minutes later. Already 40 minutes late for work so I end up just bussing to work instead. Stupid and inconvenient. Do they not ask the name of the passenger that gets in before they give them a ride or were they both the same name? Never using this cab again.

I’ve had a few good experiences with MacLure’s however tonight, they have told me 3 times now that they have sent someone to our address and someone else has picked it up, which is impossible because we have been waiting outside the whole time. for an hour and a half.

I literally take cabs every where I go. I hate taking cabs now because of all the terrible cab experiences I have had with yellow cab & black tops. The drivers are sooooooo rude and mean.
I legit walk everywhere now because I don’t know want to give any of these loser cab drivers business.
After grocery shopping at Costco, I had no Choice but to call a cab. So I decided to call maclures because this is the only cab company out of all the other cab company’s in Vancouver that has nice drivers.
UNTIL TODAY HAPPEND. The cab driver got there fast, which was great. He didn’t even bother helping me with all my groceries which was so mean. I literally live less than 3 minutes from Costco. I told him what way I wanted to go and he did not want to listen to me, he on purpose went the Longest possible way. The cab came to $ 20 when it was a $ 6 cab ride.
I could not even believe it. When I confronted him about it he said ok ok. Like an a hole like they all are.
Cab drivers are soooooooo cheap, they will do anything to get more money out of u. They are soooooooo scandalous.

Had a terrible experience this evening. Used their app to book a cab. After about 10 minutes it was accepted and showed a car en route.
The car pulled up a block down the street and picked up someone else. The driver clearly didn’t check if those were the right people. The app informed me that I was picked up.
Not so much.
I phoned into the call centre and after 5 straight minutes of ringing someone answered. I gave the booking number and was informed there was nothing they could do — I’d have to wait 30 minutes for another cab.
We got a ride with some friends instead.
I won’t be using this company ever again.
To add insult to injury, when I tried to email them a complaint the email bounced back. Nice to see they take customer feedback seriously enough to not have a working email address.

I don’t take a cab very often, but when I do, I’m usually nervous about it (due to how many of them drive like they’re trying to kill me). I’ve used MacLure’s about 3 times now, and thankfully each driver actually drives safely — what a concept! I usually hail a cab at a hotel, so it seems to be roulette as to which company I end up with. My preference is absolutely MacLure’s. The drivers are always friendly, reasonable, and the car is usually clean. My most recent experience was from the Bayshore hotel to Roger’s Arena for a hockey game. I told the driver where I wanted to go, and he suggested he would drop me off a block or to away to avoid traffic. «It would be faster for you to walk, otherwise we’d be sitting in traffic with the meter running», is what he said. I really appreciated his honesty, as it would’ve been easy for him to take the longest route possible and charge me $ 20.
All in all, MacLure’s is my go-​to cab company.

Our first experience with MacLure’s cabs was perfectly fine. We called for a cab, it showed up, it took us to our destination, we paid and that was that.
Our second experience was not quite as happy. The cab was waiting, first in line, outside of our hotel, the Hyatt Regency. The cab driver was a short Indian gentleman who, when he discovered we were going to the train station and not the airport, became sulky and pouty.
First he took us way to the train station in a quite roundabout fashion. A side note: we’ve been to Vancouver many, many times and are quite conversant with the city and how to get around in it. Therefore, we realized at once what the cab driver was doing (trying to get more of a fare by going in a round about way to the station) and commented on it. He then took us to the train station, refused to get out of the cab to help remove the luggage from the back of the cab (they are almost all Prius cabs). Then before my husband could get his coffee off the roof of the cab, where he’d placed it so that we could remove the luggage ourselves, the cab driver took off with screeching tires, spilling coffee all over.
The sad part is that whenever we leave Vancouver, we give the cabbie all the Canadian money we have left as a tip. If this cab driver had just behaved respectfully, he would have gotten a huge tip as we had quite a bit of money left. Instead, he got a $ 2.00 tip.
