Lux Lounge

The ambience is fine for a Latin night but the bar is horrible and extremely basic. Smirnoff and orange juice $ 10.50. $ 3 obligated coat check $ 12 cover (which makes sense cause with such a horrible bar, no one buys drinks).

$ 15 cover followed by $ 3 mandatory coat check and cash only bar. Get w the times, no one carries cash these days. Bad vibe overall and a pile of douches in the bar.

We organized a UBC department Christmas party at Lux Lounge this year. Simon the manager was very accommodating and was easily available prior to the event and was present during our party to ensure everything ran smoothly. Everyone who attended, thought the venue looked fantastic, that the canapes were delicious and the music kept a lot of people dancing till closing. Thank you Lux Lounge for hosting us. We look forward to returning for another event in the future!

Not as advertised. Friday: 4:00 PM — 2 AM 9pm-​2am HAVANA FRIDAY’S — Presented by Vancouver Latin Fever Team $ 12 Cover /​Free before 9:00 PM/​FREE Salsa Class (from their website). A group of friends, my girlfriend and I arrived shortly after 9pm looking forward to a fun night of learning some basic Cuban Salsa and dancing the night away. Little did we know that this was not going to happen all thanks to Vancouver Latin fever. We paid the cover (6 x $ 12) and entered only to sit around for an hour to have the instructor be a no show. At no time was there an announcement made to let us know he would not be coming. So after cover and arriving 2 hours early believe it or not but the night just got better from there (sarcasm). Our waiter told us that if we were interested in just drinks that he would be a waste of our time and for us to just go to the bar (???). Really now? I had been a bartender and waiter for almost 10 years and would have never said that to a customer. I approached the bar to then find out it was cash only. So instead of spending the usual $ 200 to $ 300 in a night we spent $ 27 b/​c that was all the cash we had. I would never return to Lux as I don’t appreciate false advertising and the ignorance that the proprietors time is more valuable than the patrons. Don’t waste your time or money.

Not sure why they even have a website when they can’t update it with correct information.
My friends and I went in for happy hour on Tuesday. Their website said two dollar drinks. Nope. They weren’t available. So we each got a five dollar red wine. And it was disgusting.
No wonder the place was empty. It kinda sucks.

This place is one of the worst «Lounge» or bar I have ever been to.
The music is really bad and extremely loud, the atmosphere is unpleasant.
I have never been this disappointed in an establishment.
Avoid this place at all cost! There is much better elsewhere in the city!

Has potential, but not under this management. Where do I begin…
I came for the Jazz Brunch, sounded great and there was a social shopper deal for it. Two meals and bellinis for $ 30! Even though I know the price is low to pay that for 2 people, I wouldn’t have paid over $ 10 in TOTAL for the meals we received.
I had a «chicken and waffles» meal. I was embarrassed for them when my old tasting fried chicken came in between two EGGO WAFFLES. No joke. Ok fine, its a quick fix, but when I started eating the things were cold. I don’t mean sitting on the counter cold. I mean like kinda still frozen cold…
My friend got the eggs benny. Better, but she asked for bacon (which she was happy to pay extra for) but it never came. Even after asking nicely after getting her meal.
Looking around the place I saw a lot of unhappy guests, and (at least 3) tables without food. Mostly because their order was messed up. Two of those tables still didnt have food when my friend and I left about an hour and a half later. Geez.
The staff was lacking. There was ONE server for the whole place (food and drink), one random guy that walked around telling the server what to do, and one girl who basically cleaned and brought cutlery.
The server, bless him, was doing the best he could. But he also went into TMI when talking with diners. He kept repeating to diners that he was super hungover and he also shouted out things to tables like «was the food really horrible?» and «im so sorry it’s taking so long I’ll be with you in 5 minutes, or an hour…». it’s called PROFESSIONALISM.
The poor jazz singer was the only thing good about the place, and if she knew how it was run I think she would have left too.

This place has been recycled so many times, i’ve lost track. Used to be Un’Wined, then some Indian resto, and another one after that, and now this.
Yet still has all the fancy furnishings and sure is a lounge atmosphere, high ceilings.
Got a nice pool table in front, with the wrap around bar to the restaurant side.
Does look like a fun place to hang, seem to have lots of events going on there.

Saturday Salsa night is one of the funnest nights I’ve had in my life. Good music and amazing dancers. If you’re looking for a good night out dancing then this place is a must.

My experience here was not the best. Nothing was going on. The bartender was missing. I guess I got the worst end of it.
The décor is quite nice though and the staff was very friendly.

Interior — not classy, but they try to with chandeliers and good chairs but all of a sudden there’s a DJ booth that was forced to put it up there.
Food was limitted, untasteful and not the same as the menu listed in the internet/​website. So bad, the only thing you might enjoy here are the booze (no different from other places) and the company of your friends.

Dead at lunch. Comedians, dancing… still trying to find what works for them I guess in the evenings.:-)
My gf and I enjoyed our lunch on the patio but it was completely empty. Typical «luxury» style with Damask and black and white décor and big chandeliers. The food was not what we expected but still good. (see pics)

The place is too loud. But it’s DEAD? how does that work?
If you want a lounge environment, go to Earls or Cactus. Even places like that are like a library compared to this place. Which doesn’t compliment the horrible service, and mediocre food. Save your cash and either eat in or go to a better place like the Ware house!

The renovation looked great! I enjoyed the moroccan meatballs. However, Waiting almost half an hour for moroccan meatballs and 2 more meals are not acceptable.
Otherwise, Good food and good service. I recommend it.

I had a chance to check this place out since its opening. The food was great and well priced. The décor was very urban and the crowd was young and fun. I disagree with the previous review. I didn’t have a groupon so I’m not cheap. The drinks were the same price as any other place. I live in close by and I will definitely come back for eats and drinks.
