Lucky’s Doughnuts

The coffee and donuts deal for $ 5 is a great deal. The coffee is average but the donuts are probably the best donuts I have ever eaten. Way better than other donut shops in Vancouver. Very nice interior, staff was decent, nothing extraordinary. If I’m looking for donuts I know where to go.

First time here, so I’m on the neutral side of things. Also came here for the hot chocolate event.
My boyfriend got the classic hot chocolate and doughnut special, he got the apple bacon fritter. He loves bacon so he was automatically sold on that alone. Compared to the cookies I got, with my hot chocolate, the apple bacon fritter was delicious. I’m also assuming these pastries are sitting in the display all day, it didn’t taste or seem dried out and disgusting like old pastries. As far as doughnuts go, I’m going to always be loyal to Cartems, and willing to go down the road for some.
I got the Saturday nut fever, it was suppose to be a milk chocolate with hazelnut. I’m lactose in tolerant so I substituted the milk with almond milk. I only tasted the milk chocolate and barely any hints of hazelnut. When I read the description I was hoping it would taste similar to Nutella.
If I’m ever in the area, I’ll go back for the coffee and try some of their other pastries.

Such a perfect pairing of coffee and donuts! I wasn’t even in need of caffeine or a snack, but I am glad I stopped in to try Lucky’s Doughnuts and 49^th Parallel! Checked this place out mid-​afternoon on a Friday and about a third of the donut case was empty – good sign right? RIGHT! The salted caramel old fashioned donut was crunchy, sticky, and a little salty on certain bites with thin flakes. The thumbprint donut had a little bit of cream on top, and was super fluffy and flaky. If I wasn’t visiting for a short weekend, I would’ve wanted to try an entire dozen (and I don’t even eat donuts)!

The place is overpriced for what it offers. You have line up for a disappointing donut and by the time you get over to the cashier you can’t see the donuts anymore and have to walk back to remember more complex orders. The ambience is nice though and if only they’d pick a bigger locale you could relax a bit more.

Lucky’s Doughnuts could possibly be my favorite doughnut place of all time. Literally. All time. We stopped here twice for doughnuts before our days of exploration around Vancouver. Made fresh in house, with great flavors and ingredients, you’ll be Lucky at Lucky’s.
The doughnuts we had were:
Apple Maple Bacon Fritter, French Crueller, Salted Caramel, Ham and Cheese Croissant, Classic Glazed, and a Peach Bismark with Basil Crème on top. Wow. Absolutely wow.
Paired with a latte or coffee from 49^th Parallel, you have a killer start to your day!

I’ve never been here but I like doughnuts. All kinds of donuts. They should invent some kind of do but dipping gravy.

Decided to stop in here after a day of exploring Commercial Drive and Broadway. They’ve got a great selection of donuts and they are a great size too! Much larger than your typical Tim Hortons donut, and much better quality too.
I only had their original glazed donut (or whatever it was called) and a chamomile tea but I was satisfied. The ambiance was very relaxing, it was a good way to end the day. I want to stop back here next time I’m in the area and give one of their other donuts a try. If their basic glazed donut was excellent, I can’t wait to see what ones with actual flavours are like!

So maybe i will be the harsher than most this time around because I love donuts. I don’t think Luckys donuts are bad, i just think they are overpriced for how good they are. I don’t want to pay $ 4 + for a small donut, and if I do i expect for it to blow my mind.
We came here on my bday and we ordered 12 donuts, in a variety of flavours. I can safely say that even thought they weren’t bad they weren’t worth what they are charging. You are just paying for a frufru donut at this point.
Coffee was pretty good, the Venezuelan didn’t disappoint with the sweetness of condensed milk.

My husband and I have been on a quest for the best donuts this past month. We haven’t been looking too hard but have only explored shops in the SoCalifornia area. I actually give this place 3.5 stars. I thought we would love the apple bacon fritter, salted caramel, cinnamon sugar but ended up enjoying the pb&j the most. Since there are so many donut shops around the area and I’m only here for a short visit, I would check out other ones.

These doughnuts are good! Very good. All three we shared were somehow filled with either gooey peanut butter and jelly or sweet mango passion fruit goodness. They can be a bit messy but who cares, they taste so good! I’m a fan!

I enjoy this coffee shop, it has a great variety of doughnuts (especially great for those who have a sweet tooth) and strong coffee. It gets quite busy on weekends (the only time I have been) but totally worth scoping out.

Team Tastic came here for an afternoon snack and we got the Stollen, the Eggnog, and the Coffee Cruller. We couldn’t resist their seasonal flavours, and I am happy to say the consistency between flavours is fantastic in terms of dough fluffiness, flavour distribution, and ease of eating with a knife and fork. My favourite goes to the Coffee Cruller.
The coffee flavour was pretty mild or there was at least enough sugar to make it so. Crullers from Tim Horton’s tend to break in all directions but here the cuts were clean and the cruller kept its rigidity. The Eggnog and Stollen were also on point with their promises and dare I say the Stollen donut tasted even better than it’s non-​donut counterpart.
If you’re not planning to order some caffeine, I recommend ordering mug of hot water to cleanse your pallet in between donuts and you’ll get a pretty mug seen here.

SO, my friends and I spontaneously decided to go to this donut place since EVERYBODY have been raving about it since it opened. We walked in and looked at the selections and the shelf was half empty. There were only a few choices left so I bought the matcha donut and the French Crueller. They were pretty decent tasting, although the donuts were a bit dry and the crueller tasted a little too eggy. Honestly, I’d probably rather eat the donuts at Tim Horton’s because it was quite pricey for a small donut.
Also, when we were making our selection of donuts, the man behind the counter made us feel very uncomfortable, giving us looks because we were taking a while to pick (even though there was no one behind us). It felt like he wanted us out of the shop.
Overall it was a decent visit, if it wasn’t for the service, 3.5 stars.

I had the pb and jelly donut. It was pretty good. My problem with any jelly donut from here… is that there is barely any jelly in a huge donut.
I decided to give it another go and get their concord grape jelly powdered donut. Same problem!
Even the Canadian Superstore stuff thier low budget (but yummy) donuts with heaps of jelly… so what is your excuse Lucky’s? Stingy much?

I’d been looking forward to trying Lucky’s Doughnuts for quite some time. I like the idea of gourmet doughnuts and I’m certainly willing to pay extra for a premium product.
The establishment was very busy — a good sign. The people in line ahead and behind me were very excited and raving about their favourites. The doughnuts looked great. The flavour combinations were enticing.
I ordered 2 PB&J, 2 Salted Caramel, 2 Chocolate Old Fashioned, 2 Apple Bacon Fritter, 2 Cinnamon Sugar Old Fashioned and 2 Blueberry Cake.
First bite: Blueberry Cake.
First Impression: Kinda bland. Oily. Odd aftertaste.
Hmm… Maybe this is just a swing and a miss.
Second Bit: Chocolate Old Fashioned.
Impression: Also bland. Ever more oily. Stronger odd aftertaste.
This is one of their regulars. No way it stays on the menu for this long if it’s not good. What’s going on here?
Third Bite: Salted Caramel. Can’t go wrong with that, right?
Impression: Very bland. Weird texture. Unbearably oily. The weird taste is overwhelming.
You can see the pattern here. The rest of the doughnuts were every bit as bad, with the exception of the Apple Bacon Fritter — It was absolutely disgusting.
How can this be? How can this place get such great reviews and be packed with smiling faces while serving such inedible garbage?
Here’s what I think went wrong: The fry oil was old, dirty and burnt. It must have been a bad batch.
I threw nearly $ 35 «worth» of doughnuts in garbage, so, needless to say, I won’t be returning. I hope for Lucky’s sake and for the sake of their customers that they were just having a bad day.

Interesting flavours but expensive for donuts. Love donuts and always like trying
new places when I hear about them. This place doesn’t disappoint. Love desserts. Lucky’s is a nice little place and can get pretty busy at times.

I love doughnuts. Doughnuts are my thangg. I’m recently become addicted to gourmet doughnuts, and I’ve been frequenting Cartems on a week basis haha! Shhh, don’t tell anybody!

I was really excited to try their doughnuts because I’ve heard so much about them, but as much as I don’t like saying this, I was disappointed. I bought three flavours, and they were all underwelming. The dough was really dense and a bit hard. While I can appreciate the fact that the doughnuts weren’t very sweet, they were a little bland for my liking. But A+ for aesthetics though! They do make some beautiful looking doughnuts! :)

Freakishly delicious donuts. Lucky’s Doughnuts Vancouver is part of 49^th Parallel Coffee Roasters. You come here to get Lucky. How can you come to Lucky’s Doughnuts and not be tempted to get a donut (a box) to go along with your coffee? Lucky’s Doughnuts at 49^th Parallel Coffee Roasters has a really nice patio space perfect to chill out and just enjoy the sun.

Coconut Bismarck is one of my favorites. I love coconut cream filled Bismarck with a vanilla glaze. The Swiss meringue topped with toasted ribbon coconut is very sinful. This goes well with coffee — it cuts through all the sugar!
Carrot Cake (top left): You must try the carrot cake. My mom always tells me to eat my vegetables. And I certainly have no problems with carrot cake. It is not extremely sweet and has that moist soft center.

Have you ever have McDonald’s fries dipped in a sundae? Another sweet /​salty donut is the Salted Caramel — classic fashioned donut dipped in a creamy caramel and finished with maldon salt.
What is your favorite donut flavor? Maybe if we all voted Lucky’s will make it for us? *fingers crossed*

Went to this place on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The place was packed! There wasn’t a free seat to be seen. It was definitely bumpin’ in there. Just wanted to pick up a couple of donuts to try, so I didn’t mind. But if you are looking for a quiet place to work, or have a conversation, I dunno if this is the place. If you are looking to be seen by some plaid wearing, glasses wearing hipsters in skinny jeans… you might be in luck though.
Anyways, the donuts were pretty good! Not the best I’ve had, but definitely worth purchasing. We got the apple and bacon fritter, and the PB & J donut. It was really cute that the PB & J donut was shaped square, like a sandwich. It tasted like you would expect, though the peanut butter on the outside didn’t travel well. I also wish it was more like a peanut butter glaze instead of straight tasting peanut butter tasting. The apple and bacon fritter though was really interesting. It radiated bacon flavour in every bite. It wasn’t as if they just crumbled bacon on it, but was dipped and cooked in bacon fat. It also had an almost charred or smokey flavour. I didn’t get any real apple going on from it. But it was just so interesting! I never had a donut that was so savoury. It is worth trying for sure.

It is always the last visit that you are going to remember, and it just didn’t meet to the standards I have had with Lucky’s that I have had before. I’ll admit that this was the first meal of the day while I was nearby and I have always wondered how the PB&J was. Well I had it, and well, it dealt with my hunger and lack of energy, but wasn’t the wavering ‘wow’ that everyone has been talking about, too bad, cause I was hoping it would live up to those expectation.
I think I may have caught the end of the Valentine’s Day batch, cause I remember this thing, seeing it on multiple occasions being square, and not heart shaped. My stomach was too hungry to even really think of this at the time I was there, just gimme the damn donut so I can shut the stomach up was at the forefront of my mind. I lined up to get my food, only a donut, no coffee this time as this place is located within 49^th Parallel, and in no time my order was in a bag ready for me to jettison off!
About the donut itself, covered in a good thin layer of peanut butter, a nice light brown ‘Skippy’ kind of color, this is already beginning to be appealing to me! Wondering about the anticipation of what was the filling, as it has to be the jelly/​jam portion, I have to say I was not a fan of this combo. The filling felt dry for any filling, let alone jam, for a donut and was a little too tart and didn’t jive well with the peanut butter. It became an imbalance of too much jam, and the flavours felt just off. A little too doughy in between the break of peanut butter to jam didn’t help combine the flavours of my childhood. I think I will stick with the other ones I tried, like their apple and bacon. I guess I’m just going to have to wait for my follow up visit!
