Karaōke service upstairs was horrible, beware and don’t bother with the servers because they act like you don’t exist and will leave you hanging for a long time!

Simply worst service I have gotten. They put a dirty gas burner having very distinct soup stains with empty water bowls and then they didn’t come for a long time. After they got an order, they didn’t come before I called them out in most of times. Not even one person has checked out if we need something while we ate there. Very poor service and I won’t return to this restaurant any longer.

Great food, terrible service. Apparently those waitresses had no idea what they were doing… If you don’t care about service and only focus on food, come here! Even chicken wings are to die for.

Simply the worst food and service. Looks so busy from outside so we went in and it was mistake some random Chinese looking server throwing dishes on the table never come and check the table for water. They give you 3 side dishes super salted kimchee, super fermented daikon kimchee n worst potato dish I ever had in my life. If the food is good I don’t complain even they have worst service in the world. But there food was just horrible my 12 yr nephew can make better food than them haha Those people who don’t believe those Unilocal on the review? Please go ahead and try it haha

Came by for some late night hot pot. This is one of the few places that are open after 0200, and I’m guessing they’re capitalizing on the market. The dumplings, BBQ chicken, and seafood pancake were decent(3.5 stars). However, the pork hot pot was a real disappointment. There was less than a bite of meat on each pork chunk. In other words, the chunks they used were easily over 80% bone. For the price of this item($ 41 for 2 people!?), this was pretty ridiculous. See photo. Not ordering this ever again. If you’re out in this area this late, chances are you have access to a car. If this is the case, I would recommend getting your munchies elsewhere, such as late night phở.

There was a 40 minute wait to get into Sura Korean Cuisine. This restaurant was right across the street. We were hungry. So we went in and got a table immediately. I read many of the reviews of this place before we ordered. The reviews were absolutely correct. Service was slow. We ordered and the waiter repeated the order but never wrote it down. He did repeat the orders. Two of the three meals were brought to the table within 15 minutes of ordering. My companions started eating. After waiting 15 minutes and still not receiving my meal, we tried to find the servers attention. There was no one around. Knowing from Unilocal reviews, I stood up to find someone. I explained the problem to a young woman and she came back in five minutes to say the kitchen never got the order for the meal. This is exactly what some of the other reviews detailed. On the plus side, the food was good when it did arrive. It is a very noisy restaurant. You have been forewarned. I will not return under any circumstances.

This place is always meh for me but they accept reservations and can accommodate groups so we came here last weekend for a friend’s bday dinner. Service is «on-call» only if you know what I mean. Good pork bone soup(5 – 6 bones) and really tender beef short ribs but the spicy squid is passable. Their potstickers are juicy and good but I don’t think they’re hand-made in the restaurant(store bought maybe…) They are sparse on the complimentary side dishes and it’s a slight hassle to have to cut the portions with the provided scissors yourself. I would probably only come back for the pork bone soup!

We tried their BBQ pork dish and it was so disappointing. The dish is extremely sweet without any of the heat I associated with Korean food. The service was just ok, a little bit slow even. But even if they are extremely friendly, nothing would make up for the extremely sweet dish they served.

It looks like we wouldn’t be coming here for awhile. We come to this place every time we come to Vancouver. We enjoy having Korean food when we travel. This place has been changed to worse. Usually Korean restaurants come with approximately 10 side dishes when we have dinner, and we had 6 people sharing 3 side dishes. Bulgogi was ordered but never served until we were ready to head out. Make sure to ask for free rice per person as they only serve 3 when there are 6 people. We ordered 6 dishes altogether. We paid $ 100 and left feeling hungry, everything was overpriced. I suggest going to Korean restaurants in Richmond. That’s all folks, we’ll be back(not here though).

This place serves you kimchi that isn’t even a day old by taste — so it hasn’t even had time to ferment. All the ban chan taste like water. The flavoring here was entirely flat on 4 of the dishes we had — which is just shameful for any Korean restaurant. Even the hot sauce for the sol sot bibimbap was plain. Worse — normally Korean food makes me feel happy for 24 hours; however, both my friend and I were paying the price once more just under 24 hours later.

One of my favourite Korean restaurants downtown. Feels like I’m back in Korea every time I eat here, probably because of the non-stop K-Pop that is played on all the screens :) Good and fast service, never had a hard time getting a table. Food arrives quickly so you will never be waiting long if you’re really hungry. I love that they serve kimchi turnip AND kimchi cabbage as a side, many places only have the cabbage. If you are looking for Korean food this is the place to go downtown vancouver. Must try: 24hour bone broth with potato noodles and BBQ short ribs!

JMJ is my go to place whenever I crave spicy soup. This place does some amazing spicy homemade tofu soup(Amazing for downtown). The tofu is so soft it just melts in your mouth. Am not a big fan of their bbq, but their soups and hotpots are a big hit. So are the pan fried dumplings. Even though the service is painfully slow, the tasty food and K-pop playin around you makes up for it. Also they have karaōke upstairs. Food: Good Service: Sloooooow but friendly Ambiance: Casual Worth the price: Yes

Came here for the soup. Yes the good Korean Soup. We ordered the fried gyoza as an appie. The gyoza was really awesome. I got the Gahl Bee Thang soup. Inside there was beef. There is not a lot of beef in the soup. The place is bigger and upstairs there is Karoke. Also there are 3 big tv screens playing K-pop. Its interesting. The décor is basic but service is a bit slow. The serve doesn’t come by often to fill the water. We needed extra napkins and we had to ask 3 times before we really got it. The place does get busy. If you do come and don’t want to wait. Come before 6 or after 9pm. Would I come back. Of course!

Jang Mo Jib is definitely a place where a lot of Vancouverites have had their Korean food fix. It’s been around for many, many years and this is my first visit at the Robson location in at least 1.5 years. It still offers the same options as I remember it. Very homey, more old-school Korean feel if you know what I’m talking about. And it definitely has a different vibe from Sura that is nearby. JMJ feels less modern and more mom and pops. Ordered the naengmyeon(cold noodles) and it was average. Pretty big portions for the price we paid. Service was a-ok. Nothing amazing but staff seem to be quite attentive after we flag them down. Oh yeah, appies. I’m a big fan of apps and that didn’t disappoint. 3 stars. JMJ is a mainstay in Vancouver but I don’t know if it is a place I will recommend to non-Vancouverites anymore since there are so many options that are now available.

I like the food here and have always liked korean food. I think the little dishes are the cutest. I have to say that it is authentic and delicious. The sweet potato and the radish dishes are the best. They don’t always seem to serve the same small dishes though and need to remind them to refill them for you. It is a busy place and not enough servers so don’t go there for service and expect to be patient and wait quite a bit. Other than that, you will really like their food as it is tasty, warm, filling and just the way you expect korean food to be. I have been here three times and each time the service seems to be getting slightly better. If you speak korean or whatever language the server speaks other than English, then you will get better service. I highly recommend trying the hot pots and the beef soup as well as the porc dishes. They are really great. It is also one of the few places in vancouver downtown that are open till late so if you are hungry, then head on over.

Jang Mo Jib has changed over the years. Now, it’s a full grown Korean restaurant that still offers the same good old items that they’ve always served, but it’s just busier and it’s just busier. Over the years, we’ve seen Korean restaurants sprout from one or two BBQ joints to soup houses to street style food. Now there is a whole gamut of styles that showcase what Korean cuisine has to offer. Jang Mo Jib was at the forefront of this change and it’s evolution is certainly welcome. My farourites were always the soups. This time I came for the Doe Jee Bo Ssahm which they described as «Cooked, sliced pork tenderloin and belly, served with Chinese cabbage to wrap, homemade sauces to dip, and special „Bo Ssahm“ kimchee which contains oysters». I’m giving this place a 4 star review, even there were some flaws with staff communication, or lack of staff. Our table and the table next to us got served our tea, and food, but they wouldn’t bring us the cutlery that we needed to eat with. We had to scrounge them from other tables and when asked«what we’re doing» we explained with their acknowledgment being a simple grunt. Indeed they must be busy and understaffed. Maybe training in customer service would benefit this to give them 5 stars. Service — as described above — 2 stars unattentive service. Cleanliness — 4 stars — staff were good at cleaning up and overall appearance was satisfactory. Food — 4 stars — Everyone loved their food. My dish Doe Jee Bo Sahm, the meet was thickly sliced(compared to their competitor accross the street which offers a more refined version). Ambiance — 4 stars — lots of TV screens with Korean music videos and hot chicks. Bustling busy ambiance, loud chatter and the aroma of BBQ flustered about. Yes, I said flustered about. I would suggest to also try one of the other Jang Mo Jibs to see the variety and taste differences. If you like Korean food, this is just the beginning. There’s lots to like and lots to eat in this town. $$$

I enjoy going to Jang Mo Jib in Robson Downtown for late night eats. There aren’t many places that are open past midnight with full service, but this place is my go-to whenever I’m in Downtown past midnight. I’ve been here with friends around the 1 or 2am mark several times as well. I’m not sure what time this restaurant closes, but one of my friends thought it might have been 3am or even later. Anyway I love that I can come here to have dinner or snacks when we’re hungry in the middle of the late night. I do like the traditional décor, and the tables have a lot of space when I come with a larger group. The service is a bit slow, but that’s ok, we come here to slowly eat and chat the night away. I love that the staff doesn’t shoo you out even if you are sitting here for two hours or more. That’s probably due to the fact that we come here around midnight or later and it’s not always busy in the late hours. Someone once told me that Jang Mo Jib is one of the oldest Korean restaurants to be created in Vancouver. The quality of food is pretty good, and I also like that they serve free(refillable) appetizers before the meal.

I’ve had a Korean craving for over two weeks and finally convinced(and by that, I mean begged profusely) my girlfriend to go with me. I liked that the tables are big enough to fit all the food without having to play tetris with your plates, dishes etc. I also like the covering on them so they’re not sticky/gross and are very easy to clean. The food was delicious, even beyond what I was expecting. I heard rumors that the quality has gone downhill so I was hoping for something better than average but not outstanding but I was wrong — it was really delicious. We had some really mediocre Korean out in Coquitlam so I was trying to rectify it and it did just that. My girlfriend said it was much better than that one and that she’d happily come back(which says a lot because she’s a bit picky hehe). We got the blood sausage which I had been craving for months! There’s only three Korean restaurants I know who make it and so I always get it when they have it on the menu. ITWASSOGOOD. In fact, I got a medium order just so I can take the rest home for leftovers! The tofu soup was delicious, flavorful, and just very tasty. They didn’t skimp on tofu, meat, or kimchi. It was really satisfying. The jap chae left much to be desired for one reason: they skimp on meat. They’ll pile on the veggies but give you a few shreds of beef which is really disappointing. For $ 20, they can afford to put more meat on it! But aside from that, it was cooked really well and was very flavorful. The kimchi was too fresh and wasn’t fermented enough. Other than that, I really enjoyed the other 3 side dishes. I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 simply because the service wasn’t the best. They weren’t awful by any means, but they were just incredibly busy so it was difficult to find someone when you needed something. So it was a pain getting someone to take our order, bring us a jug of tea, give us our bill etc. Other than that, everything else was excellent and I’d come back.
