I walked by here last year as my friend Amanda had her wedding registry here. Although I couldn’t make it to the wedding due to a vacation I was taking at the time(Spain) I still wanted to get her something from here. Most of the cheapish and decent items were already called for and bought, however, there were a few trinkets like a lemon candle etc. that I DID get for her. The customer service was awesome and the lady at the til loved my cat hat and my hair.

Before I got married, I could have cared less about china. But some latent gene must have kicked in on contact with bridal registries, because I now find myself obsessed with fine dinnerware, and Villeroy and Boch is one of my favourite brands. Their downtown Vancouver store is a wonderland. Beside their traditional patterns of farmers in fields and bold, painted florals, they also have several thoroughly modern lines of sculpted white dishes. Making me wish for more square footage of china cabinet space are the special Christmas dishes — one with poinsettia prints, the other with Santas and snow scenes. But that’s not all… V+B also does beautiful crystal vases, Xmas ornaments, and silver and stainless flatware. They also have lovely painted crocks for the kitchen and folksy serving dishes. I turned over a few pieces(carefully, of course), and am happy to report that Villeroy and Boch still manufactures in Germany, not Indonesia or China, like some other big names in tableware do. This store really is dish heaven.
