Enough machines to keep the rotation of wash dry in motion, never had to wait in my 3 visits I’ve been in the 4 years I’ve lived in the west end(building laundry isn’t the best) Things that would make it better is wifi, and more seating.

Hadn’t been to a laundromat in a long time, but while travelling we had a child induced laundry emergency. This one is pretty nice. But it is hard to find. I walked by several times before I finally saw it. And I wouldn’t have seen it except that the postal carrier helped me find it.

Huge machines, super clean facilities, and located in a very strange upper-level portion of a long string of shops on Denman, Hot Sox sounds more like a nightclub then a laundromat — sorry, laundrette. Even the steady oompa loompa parade streaming from the building screams ultimate cheesemo quota exists up in this hizzy. But, no my friends, this is no nightclub — this is a laundromat that just so happens to be right next to a tanning salon. I’ve only had the pleasure of using these machines once(involving a burst pipe one terrible winter — an inevitability in the old West End), but I was able to do all four MASSIVE loads of my laundry for under 20 bucks and within an hour. This is unheard of in my tiny little building. So don’t be frightened of the orange-skinned peeps who live next door, just sit back and relax on the leather couch and enjoy the top 40 they’ll play for you as you wait for your hot sox to dry.

I was at Hot Sox tonight… yes, being lame on a Saturday night! haha! It’s great because I could do three large loads of laundry, including my feather duvet, all at once. The driers fit tons and dry pretty quick too. I was in and out of there in less than an hour and 20 minutes. I think I spent probably about $ 15, but don’t forget that I washed and dried a duvet. I’m not sure it has too much to do with the actual facilities, but I have to say that I was not too impressed when the girl from the tanning salon came in at 7:25 and told us that we had only 5 minutes to finish up — there were quite a few people there still with mostly wet clothes. I guess they recently changed the hours on Saturdays from 8:00 to 7:30. Anyway another lady said to the tanning gal that the door said 8:00, and tan gal rudely said something about 7:30 and pointed to a sign saying the closing time was 7:30, and she made sure to let her know that the door is wrong and that the owner of the laundrette«doesn’t give a sh! t about this place». A minute later I was getting my clothes from the dryer and next to me she slammed down her laundry basket of towels to be washed, scaring the SH! T out of me! Thank you for that, tanning salon gal… be rude AND give me a heart attack. Wonderful. Aside from the rude tanning salon gal, i would go back, but only because I can do more than one load of laundry at the same time and get it over with pretty quickly. Oh and it would be nice if they didn’t play loud annoying music in there though too… I try to study while doing laundry and it’s difficult to read when you’ve got Beyonce pumping through the room. But, that’s just me being picky. ;)

BIG Machines,(plus there is a quarter dispenser, totally necessary b/c banks aren’t keen on assisting people with change these days…) Call their number for the hours, I find it changes from time to time. You can wash and dry in about 1 hour. Can you ask for more? Oh and there is a tanning salon down the hall, so if you are really bored, you can go hang out there in the sun :))

For people that rent and don’t have the luxury of an in-suite washer and drier, this is the spot to go and get things clean. The convenient location is central to those living near Denman Street. I like the fact that I can pop-in for a tan next door or go and get my shopping done on Denman while I wait for the clothes to dry. There are no other public launderers on Denman Street, so unless you feel like going for a walk all the way up to Davie and Bute, I would go here instead.
