I was taken here by a Vancouver resident and loved it. Coming from Atlanta I can say this is the best sushi I have had. I got the Bento box and loved it. We were served warm tea and miso soup for a starter. Delicious

This is my go-to neighborhood sushi place. The good: grilled miso black cod for just $ 7, tasty kani pon salad, reliable sushi. Drawbacks: serving sizes are occasionally a bit sad.

This is meh at best. I used to look forward to Hime for lunch, but the quality of the food has really gone downhill since it changed to Korean ownership. Food is bland and subpar to other«Japanese» places. Service is now almost non-existent. The staff are unfriendly and will do anything to avoid eye contact. It took us at least 10 mins to flag down our waitress to order our food and get our bill and the restaurant was half empty. I think I saw a slight smile from the waitress for the first time when we waited for our bill. I will avoid this place from now on as there are much better alternatives in the mount pleasant area.

The food was ok nothing too special. Waitress wasn’t nice but the owner was. Don’t order anything with chicken because it was so dry I needed 5 glasses of water.

Came here again for pickup a few weeks ago, and still the same great quality of freshness for their toro sashimi. As well as the girl taking down the order, liked how they repeat the order on their own without me asking them, and they were on time when I arrived. parking does suck as you’re not allowed to park on Kingsway in front of their store.

I’m sad to give a one star rating because the food is good, pricing is excellent, the service is efficient, and it’s a very convenient location. Nice ambience, nice almost everything. I’m giving it a one-star review because half way through my meal, one of the cooks standing in the exposed kitchen area ducked behind the counter and started clipping his fingernails. In the kitchen. With the food. The restaurant had very few patrons at the time I was in, and the sound of the clipping was very, very loud. Who has ever clipped their nails without one or two going flying? Where do they go? Well, if you’re at home in the bathroom where this kind of activity is appropriate, then it goes on the floor somewhere, and it gets swept up. In a kitchen, however, where does it go? On a cooking, prep, or(heavens forbid) service surface. And then maybe in my mouth. This is an automatic disqualification for me, I’m afraid. Such a pity — otherwise, this is a great spot, however I will absolutely not be back.

This is solely a review on the fact that at least 1 sushi chef didn’t wash their hands after all the chefs left in a group for a smoke break, which they regularly do on the front sidewalk right beside the restaurant no less. Come on guys smoke out of sight of your customers please. After coming back inside one chef went right to the prep counter and was handling knives and other items without washing his hands. Gross and unsanitary. When will chefs get it that sanitation is required especially when handling food. Astonishing how often this occurs. It is a Foodsafe requirement. Would they eat food that I touched right after I had a smoke? If they don’t wash their hands after they smoke who knows what else they do and don’t wash their hands after. Don’t think I’ll go back.

I love this place. Staff are always super friendly, and ingredients are always really fresh. They offer black and brown rice, which is really nice. I only give it 4 stars because I find it a little pricy, especially compared to sushiyama, but portions are bigger.

I absolutely love this little restaurant! I live in the US but had the luck of walking in here 2 years ago because we were staying at a friend’s condo down the street on one of my visits. That week we ended up coming to eat here 4 times and now 2 years later, it does not disappoint. It’s still so very very good for the price and the service is wonderful! We sit at the bar always so we can talk to the sushi chef and get recommendations. The sashimi is amazing and you can get the sushi chef to make you special rolls that are not on the menu. Sushi is so abundant in Vancouver but I keep coming here every time I am in town. A+!!!

Really great service. Fresh and yummy fish. They have creative dishes that aren’t just rolls with a ton of mayo in them like most sushi joints.

We tried this place for lunch on a recent day trip to Vancouver and we were pleasantly surprised. The fish was extremely fresh and well-prepared, servicev was friendly, and there was not a long wait to get in. We shared the deluxe sashimi plate($ 24) and felt it was a great value. It even included uni, which was salty and delicious. Prices were a little high and parking was non-existent, but I’d definitely go back

I’m not one to turn down sushi in Vancouver… ever!(Well, except maybe for oysters at Rodney’s)! So, when my dining companion for the evening suggested 3 different places for us to meet, I went for Hime without even blinking. I made us a reservation and was sitting in great company in no time. In addition to complimentary green tea and edamame, I started with a seaweed salad and my companion started with a miso soup. We then shared the House Vegetable Roll, a Tempura Yam Roll, a BC Roll, Chop Scallop Nigiri(Spicy and Regular), and a Sakura Spider Roll… Hime’s service was friendly and attentive and everything was beautifully plated and most important of all, it tasted fresh! I found the prices to be reasonable as well. If you’re looking for a quiet spot with quality fish and plenty of menu options, you can’t go wrong with Hime!

Hime is a perennial favourite for me — one of my best friends lives just around the corner and I can’t count the number of times we’ve gorged ourselves here! This evening, my dining companion had never experienced the deliciousness so I happily suggested we go. The sushi rolls are always beautifully presented, fresh, and tasty! The staff are attentive and courteous — my complimentary green tea was swiftly refilled every time it was getting low, and my empty miso soup bowl disappeared before I even noticed! My only complaint is that I’m so full right now I can hardly move — how dare you make your food so yummy!(I’ll be back… And soon…)

This was my first time at Hime. The staff gave great customer service. The food was quick to come, so we did not have to wait long. Menu items were also reasonably priced as well. We ordered the Dragon Roll, Crunch Munch Roll, Alaska Roll, Tuna Roll, Agedashi Tofu and Spicy Tuna Salad. The Chef’s Specialty Rolls were delicious. Spicy Tuna was spicy. And Agedashi Tofu was piping hot. Oh and we got free edemame as well to start. This was a great place to eat in this area, and I would come back.

Absolutely fresh and delicious. It’s a little pricier then most sushi restaurants– maki rolls are $ 5 instead of $ 3. As well the servings are small, I paid $ 10 for a Specialty roll that was the same size as a maki roll. But its yummy and the staff are very welcoming :). I don’t think they are Japanese though maybe Korean.

A friend and I went out to for Japanese food on a Wednesday night. We ended up at Hime Japanese Restaurant. I counted 2 other Japanese restaurants on the same block as Hime, and there is a gaggle sprinkled all over the area. Man talk about competition! 2 thumbs up for Hime! We started with the Cold Organic Tofu. It was a good appetizer to get the taste buds going. Than we shared some rolls the Sunny Roll and the Paradise Roll. Both very good. The Sunny roll was a bit spicy, but not to the point where one had to run for water! I had the Unagi Donburi. Again very good! Lots of eel and the sauce was nicely spread on the eel and rice. I would order it again. Food wise no complaints! The restaurant is pretty small. It could maybe accommodate 30 people max. We came on a Wednesday night and it was 90 percent full. I’m sure the line up would be out the door on a Friday night. The service was excellent. As soon as I sat down I was immediately given a hot tea. The waitress was cute and not overtly ingratiating. As I said before 2 thumbs up! Be back soon!

I looooved their lunch box, which was filled with teriyaki chicken on a bed of noodles, couple of nigiris, ebi sunomono, and a dynamite roll. I actually ordered an extra tuna nigiri but then they gave me another one. They came over and apologized, and told me the extra nigiri is on the house. The cut on the raw fish was really nice, and I felt that the ratio of fish to rice was perfect. The dynamite roll was delicious, and the ebi sunomono wasn’t too vinegary! It was just right. The teriyaki chicken was a little lacking in taste because the sauce was too light, and the noodles were plain. But I think that’s the way it should’ve been, so I guess I shouldn’t complain! The only thing that could’ve been better is if they came to fill my tea once more, or if they didn’t talk in Korean about their customers. Mind you, they didn’t say anything rude. But because I’m Korean and I can understand what they were saying, I couldn’t help but to feel a bit self conscious when they were saying, «Do you think that extra nigiri will help us get recognized? Hehe.» But I would like to come back and try their Chicken Karaage Bowl, which isn’t something I usually see in a Japanese menu(I’ve seen Donburi but not a Karaage bowl!!).
