Cute store, but staff need better training in customer interaction. If they had better staff, I might give it a four.

I purchased my first pair of rainboots (treton) from this store in September. I remember having a french lady (I know she was french because her accent was soooo thick, it was great!) that was helpful when it came to grabbing me sizes and telling me what colors were in stock. So that was great.
The other day I was wearing the rain boots and noticed that my right felt cold and wet. The boot had a tear in on the side that was letting water in. I called gum drops and double checked that there was a warranty on the brand I bought and there was, as long as it wasn’t physical damage and that I had my receipt. I went in this past Saturday and as soon as I had the attention of 1 of the 2 sales woman, she checked the boot for a second and asked me what I wanted in replacement. I could either get the same boots in what ever color they had in my size or get a store credit. Needless to say I walked out with new rain boots and with the same amount of money as I had when I walked in!
The only complaint I have about this store is the wait to get help — I’ve been in this store 3 times and each time had to wait 5 – 10 minutes to get help.

I’m giving this store only 3 stars, despite the fact that I’d prefer to give four. I love the selection here and the layout of the store — but the service was terrible.
I went to Gumdrops last Saturday, as I’ve been in the market for a pair of rain boots for quite some time. I have purchased items here over the past couple of years for my niece and nephews, but for some reason I resisted getting a pair of rubber boots for myself. A couple of really rainy days walking to and from work finally convinced me I need to get over my phobia of wellies and just get a pair already! Wet feet and pants in the office are just not attractive or professional.
So I ventured out to Kitsilano on Saturday afternoon for a stroll along 4^th Avenue with my mom. We stopped for lunch first and then did some window shopping on our way to Gumdrops. When I opened the door, it looked like there wasn’t anyone in the store. We went all the way in and finally saw a girl behind the counter. She didn’t look up, say hello or even acknowledge us in any way. We walked over to the wall of boots and I looked at a few pairs before deciding I liked a certain type. I checked the boot and saw that it was my size so I tried it on. Still no acknowledgement from the sales girl. After about 10 minutes of trying on several pairs, I finally asked for assistance in getting a size for a sample boot that was too small. You’d think I asked her to make me dinner. She didn’t even smile — just said, «yep» and walked away. She brought the boots and went back to sit behind the cashier’s desk.
I put the boots on and walked around the store to check the size and comfort level before making up my mind. I looked at quite a few other things but still, at no time did the sales girl offer any assistance or even seem to care that she had customers in the store. Just when I thought I had my mind made up about the boots on my feet, I saw a pair of BOGS that caught my eye. The sample boot was my size, so I tried it on. Oh, Heaven! It felt like the boot was hugging my foot in a very loving manner. I had to try the other one on to get the full experience. I asked the girl for the other boot and again, got the feeling that I was putting her out. I wasn’t going to let her indifference affect my mood, so I just focused on the boots.
I walked around for a couple of minutes admiring the boots and discussing the fit with my mom before finally decided these were the ones for me. I took them off and had the girl ring them up. I sure hope they don’t work on commission there, because I have never — in all my life — felt so unappreciated in a retail store. And that’s saying something, because I do a lot of shopping! If it wasn’t for the fact that I really needed boots, I would have left after the first 5 minutes of being ignored. I just hope for the owner’s sake that this girl’s poor attitude isn’t driving other customers away.

I came here as the Tretorn boots I bought online last year had mega holes in them… so they were sucking. Brianna came to my rescue in a straight up no nonsense way. She cut through the myriad of brands in a second and gave me two choices. I now have a boot that is adorable, fits my football player calf aaaaand is holding up to tonnes of walking. KAPOW.
In addition to the rockstar customer service… the shop is cute as hell and makes you long for rain just so you can buy more cuteness.

As all of the other reviews have stated, this place is cute, friendly and fun! I decided to finally bite the bullet and get some decent rain boots as the ones I bought from Army & Navy though cute (hot pink!) they chew up my heels every time I wear them. I found my Travellers Deck (coupons) and saw that there was a 20%off coupon inside. Done! I entered and they were putting out a whole bunch of the fleece liners (go now while the selection is good). I went and looked at the Hunters and even at 20% off, I just can’t bring myself to fork out over $ 120 for a pair of rubber boots. At the back there was a display of a brand called Bogs. Kind of weird looking but cute patterns and neoprene at the top and inside. I put a pair of these on and they were made for my feet! I have a wide foot with a high arch and these feel amazing. And they were 50% off! Plus the extra 10% from the Travellers Deck.
The saleswoman was really nice — friendly and NOT pushy. They were willing to give me that extra 10% off and did it without attitude. I would definitely go back as the selection of brands is good, the colours and styles are good and the service was good.

The décor of this place is the cutest. It makes you happy just walking in, and you forget about the rain.
Speaking of rain, I like Gumdrops because of the variety of boot brands that they offer. Everyone has Hunter rainboots. I don’t want Hunter rainboots. I picked up a very cool pair of rainboots by Sperry Top Sider that were actually cheaper than the Hunters, but also had enough room in the calf area to be comfortable. Once I wear these Sperrys into the ground, I’m definitely coming back.

I really enjoy this store. They even have rain coats for my dog, which is a plus. The only down side has been finding boots that I like in my size. They never seem to have them lol. I have been waiting since Christmas to spend my gift card. This is the place for any Wet Coaster.

Gumdrops! This is THE place to shop for Vancouverites. For the days when it seems like we will never see Mr. Sunshine again, this place will bring us some hope to survive those dreary days.
It’s brightly lit inside, and the storefront has a wide selection of funky rainboots. It has a cheery atmosphere, and it’s like they brought sunshine to a cloudy day.
Many different brands and style, in many unique colors. I had to look everywhere for my aubergine Hunters, if I had only known about this store! They also have men’s rainboots, Hunters, Tretorns. There is also a wide selection of childrens’ rainboots as well. Very cute ones too! Lots of colorful raincoats for children and women available.
They have Gumdrops fleece boot liners in many colors, as well as the Hunter Wellie Warmers. As well. they also carry umbrellas and hats.
Check out their website, also with many choices. You can order it online, and then pick it up in store. So when the next rainy day comes up, do some shopping online or in stock for your next pair of wellies!

Ah, Gum Drops. You and I, you see we belong together in Vancouver. While walking the 4^th street of Kitsilano (err, Kits) district out of the corner of my eye with shops that seemingly look the same from their Earth hue tones there was one pastel-​coloured shop. Despite the moody clouds, the shop seemed to sparkle brightly.
The window display that changes from time to time is a good attraction. The simple white painted walls with glass-​mounted shoe stands make display of shoes appear to be floating on the wall and trickling down like rain drops.
From the onset it appears to be a store that caters to the female gender. But rest-​assured male items have been trickling in. The main attraction was the sale of gumboots. Stylish, cheerful and trendy wellies. And it had to take the entrepreneur skills of Shanda Jerrett, an Australian (born in Victoria, BC), to create a lively store as this.
The best part is if you can’t find the size or style of a particular item of which they are a dealer of the product, then they will go out of their way and help find one for you. I know, they’ve done it twice for me already. There was Kamik boot with an out of stock sizez that took a few months to source. And then a Hunter boot with a specific colour and style that took a week to obtain.
Pricing is MSRP whether in store or on order. Can’t afford the full retail price? (And I don’t blame you. Pricing by the distributors for goods in Canada even when we had a USD1: CAD1 exchange ratio was still questionable). Just wait a while before every change of season and you will find sale pricing even up to 50% off.
For special orders, they will need a 50% downpayment just to make sure they don’t waste their resources obtaining it for you. Once the order is fulfilled, expect a call the soonest they have arrived. And another follow-​up email by Shanda herself (who seems to be managing the online store lately) to ensure satisfaction.
Ah, the online store (
) which was recently launched to cater to customers worldwide. It’s a little bit rough by present online store standards as the only available box to fill out is to sign up for an email list. No search function at all. Hopefully soon we can find a pair by colour, size, style, gender, etc. And some items displayed are shown to be available in-​store only which defeats the purpose of an online store.
But with the brick and mortar store being conceived only late 2007, you are excused. For I did profess my fondness for you, dear Gum Drops. And hopefully other stores follow suit in your trendy, quirky and joyful appearance despite the Vancouver rain. Because of you, we are allowed to, umm, get wet in style.

How cute is this place, and oh-​so-​Vancouver. This place sells the cute accessories you’ll need to stay in style on a rainy day — umbrellas, rainboots/​wellies, and also Havaianas for the summer… all in color!
After moving to Vancouver, I had to quickly add stylish wellies to my wardrobe. I obsessed between Hunter, Burberry, Pucci and Kamik… and after seeing that fab red pair on Angelina in Mr and Mrs Smith, I HAD to have red Hunters! Had a heck of a time trying to find the Hunters locally for awhile.
If only I knew about Gum Drops — great selection of Hunters, Kamik and Aquatalia rainboots with prints and solids in great colors. You can’t go wrong! This one-​stop place would have made my shopping a lot easier last fall rather than trekking around to Holts and Gravity Pope trying to find what I was looking for!

If I had to choose one bumper sticker to have on my imaginary car forever, I would likely choose «Rain boots changed my life.» And dang if it’s not true.
Take today: an unbelievably rainy Vancouver day when your socks are drenched before you’ve even walked a block. Well, not if you own rain boots. I’m continually amazed that so many Vancouverites opt not to buy any. But I digress.
Gum Drops provides all the more reasons that our feet and umbrellas should be brightening up the gray Vancouver winters. And they cater to men, women, kids, and even Kits’ urban puppies. The store layout is bright, clean, and slick and there are lots of styles to try before selecting a pair of puddle-​jumpers. Although the price tags can get pretty hefty here, consider it a life-​long investment.

Remember, as a kid, splashing through the puddles in the rain in your brand-​new red-​rubber boots? Well, just when you thought you had put those puppies away for good, rain boots have become hip again — for adults! And I, personally, am thankful for this trend — as any Vancouverite knows, when it rains here, it really pours, and who wants to walk around with soaking-​wet feet?
So, if you’re looking for a pair of rubbers that’s all grown up, head to Gum Drops on West 4^th Avenue, where you’ll find colours, styles, and sizes to suit both gals and guys, young and old (er) alike!

With an adorable name like Gum Drops, who could resist going in to check out what this little shop has on offer? They specialize in rainwear here, with goods for the whole family. You can find very sweet raincoats and rain hats for children and adults alike, along with plenty of rainboots, and even your poodle can accessorize him/​herself for the rain as Gum Crops carries rainwear for dogs. Of course, they also have plenty of umbrellas to choose from and cases for your laptop so that you needn’t be afraid of taking your home office to the café on a rainy day. Everything here is very, very cute, colourful and/​or pretty (men’s lines excluded), and you’re sure to find something to make the Vancouver rain a bit more tolerable.
