Gord’s Auto Repair

Having just returned to Vancouver after a lengthy absence, I had 30 days in which to safety certify my car. Where to go? Whom to trust? As a single woman, taking my car to a new mechanic strikes a considerable amount of fear and insecurity in my heart. I began reading Unilocal reviews and called another shop first, but they didn’t do certifications and referred me to Gord’s Auto Repair. I spoke to Steve, whose quiet, respectful, easy voice set me at ease too. He assessed my car’s needs while I strolled the Main St. area. When I called to brace myself for the damage (which wasn’t all that bad), I mentioned that I was quite a distance away, having walked that far, and, though I didn’t require a ride, I was impressed by his generous offer to pick me up.
I took my car in on the arranged day, it was fixed when promised, and at the price Steve quoted (there were a few extra parts that were found to need replacing, but he charged me only for the parts, not the labour).
The service couldn’t have been more ideal — I’m particularly partial to friendly service and both Steve and John provided service with a smile.
As I was walking to my car, Steve popped out to show me the molding he had put on my car ‘s passenger door (I had been sideswiped, the molding needed to be replaced — at $ 300, on an older car — or removed in order to pass safety and I had opted for the latter) at no cost.
I am so pleased and feel so comfortable knowing that I have found mechanics I can entrust my car to without nervousness or angst, but rather with confidence and trust.

Repeat customer here. Had an oil leak problem from my engine block and then unrelated electrical issues. All problems resolved without lingering issues. What really sets them apart — they delivered as initially indicated (price and time) and provided excellent communication (dealt with Steve). I would recommend to anyone.

Friendly, clean, and not too expensive. I went to Gord’s because my car needed a little help getting through aircare, and Steve there took care of everything. After a couple hundred bucks, it passed with flying colours.
