History

Established in 1904.

Funky Winker Beans Pub is open all day/night with cheap drinks and great entertainment –live metal & punk shows (touring and local, underground bands). Karaōke is 5 days a week (Sun-Thurs) and Sunday afternoons, the band Leonard & the Lab Rats play Blues Music.

Paintings of ladies on the walls are depictions of some of the ladies that used to allegedly work as prostitutes in the 1920’s in the hotel rooms upstairs. (Risqué!) In its day, it was a first class hotel, with doormen waiting to politely let you into the hotel or bar. At the time, the area used to be the central hub of activity in Vancouver, Of course in those days, there were separate entrances for men and women. (Gladly not anymore!)

It has been called Funky Winker Beans Pub since around 1981, and before that it was called «The Palace Hotel.»
