Good food at a good price However, we saw a little mouse toward the end of our meal and it ruined it for us. We also saw a few mouse traps(just left to the entrance door as you enter) as we were leaving on our right Nothing kills a good meal like seeing a mouse

My wife and I visited at about 6PM on a Monday evening and we almost had the place to ourselves. Normally this would concern me, but it looks like it’s more of a lunch than a dinner destination. Anyhow, I was impressed by the quality of the sushi, and we also liked the takoyaki very much. The sunomono wasn’t as impressive. Pricing is very reasonable and the menu is extensive. I would definitely come back again.

This place was a really pleasant surprise to my boyfriend and I. I had an avocado roll and the spicy agadeshi tofu and my boyfriend had the spicy roll combo. The portions were large and the food was really tasty. Service was also quick and efficient. I would definitely come back if I was in the area.

This place has over 300 items to choose from! Seriously, they’re all over the place. You can get a tapas, a margarita, sashimi, udon, phở, boba tee, smoothies, speciality rolls

Not bad. It was reasonably fresh and tasty. Service wasn’t terribly friendly but was efficient. I’d go back.

Went here with a group of coworkers, probably around 10 people in total. Saturday afternoon, place was empty except for us. Each persons’ food came out at a different time, mine was very last, some people had finished their meal by time mine came out. So service wasn’t that great, would have been understandable had they been slammed with other guests too but it was just us. Food was ok.

For sure… NOT! Went here for lunch today and was totally appalled by the service. The food was good, but not fabulous. We arrive, we wait a fair amount of time to order, but that’s ok, it’s lunchtime and it’s busy, we get it. About 15 minutes later the food starts to come out and my miso soup doesn’t come and I ask for it. The food is coming at all different times. My food does not come after everyone else gets theirs. I wait patiently. 10 minutes goes by while I watch everyone eat. I motion over to a server and ask her if she knows what happened to my order. She says she’ll check into it. 10 more minutes goes by. All three of my friends are completely done their meals and needing to get back to work. I am just not receiving my food(which of course comes out at different times, and not at the same time). I inform my server that I refuse to pay for it. This is the least that they can do in my(and my friend’s opinion). While I try to scarf down my food, my friends line up to pay(like as if in a cafeteria line up). While I’m sitting there eating, I can hear them arguing with the cashier/server(and these people are not prone ATALL to arguing. So, I wolf down what is remaining of my VERYSMALL portion of expensive salmon sashimi, and head up to the cashier to fight my own battle. And boy, is she battling. She insists that since I ate the food that I have to pay for it. I’m sorry, excuse me? I sit there, STARVING over my lunch break and watch for 20 minutes while my co-workers eat their entire lunch and then you are going to deny my food when it finally does arrive? By the way, it is the server/expediter’s responsibility to ensure that the entire table’s order comes up and is delivered at the same time, so I don’t entirely blame this on the kitchen. Not only that, they tried to keep my friends $ 1.25 in change. Didn’t even offer to give it back to her until she asked for it. LIke, wow. Cheapest, horrible sushi place I have ever experienced. Will definitely NOT be back.

I’ve been here a number of times as I used to work near here. There’s about 200 items on the menu and a good deal of them are fresh and quite appealing. Run by a Vietnamese family(I think), they have decent phở to start with. I am impressed with their sockeye salmon sashimi — it is quite fresh and reasonably cut(i.e. a decent helping but not at a modest price). Most of their sushi pieces are pretty okay and I have enjoyed most, but there are some special items which are downright strange. One which is their«Chef’s Recommendation» version of chirashi is almost drowning in soy sauce, meaning it’s a bit repulsive because the fish is cut almost like tartare, so sauce is also effused like mad into it. Their appetizers work the same way — the agedashi tofu is great, but they have this strange cheese and apple gyoza that had salmon in it too. I appreciate the attempts at innovation but they really shouldn’t do it. I like the prices, the service is really friendly, and I like their base items. I’d give it 3.5 stars but it would easily get 4 if they consolidated their menu some and focused a bit more on refining things, since some items seem to have decent premises in theory but are not executed well.

I am not a sushi connoisseur by any means but I really enjoyed my sushi roll and also got the veggie spring rolls. The place was basically empty though and the weirdest thing was they got mad at the other customer for taking pictures of her food. They told her it wasn’t allowed. I found that to be a little off putting. Other then that, the kitchen looked clean and the bathrooms were pretty well taken care of which is always a good sign in my book.

Lots of different dishes to choose from. I had some grill appetizer which was fantastic with well priced draft beer. Fantastic place to watch the game and chill out with my friends. Good bang for your buck. I always stop by whenever I am in the area. Best of all, they even have noodles. The only place to eat sushi and phở. I can quench two cravings at once.

My family and I were walking around downtown before heading to the Vancouver Auto Show and hunger hit us. We were pretty tight on time so we decided to try Fumiyoshi since it was staring at us in the face. We walked into the restaurant, sat down and looked around. There were only 3 other tables and we began to get a little worried. Is this place gross? Why do they serve both sushi and phở? Should we leave? In the end we ordered a party tray and assorted tempura. I didn’t feel like tempura so I didn’t eat any. The party tray consisted of rolls I usually wouldn’t order. There was a deep fried one with cheese, which I thought I would hate but ended up eating the most. Another interesting roll was a California roll baked with mayo and chopped scallop on top. I wouldn’t mind coming back here again because we all enjoyed ourselves, price was extremely reasonable and food was good, but I’d probably order lighter rolls next time.

Yup, that’s for messing up my California roll… either it was bad avocado or the rice, something just wasn’t right. granted, I kinda knew when I first stepped in, seemed to be a weird smell in the air. They have way too many items on the menu, it’s almost half japanese, half chinese, and even half vietnamese owners. No doubt it’s a casual atmostphere, and quite quiet today at 2pm. You won’t find parking anytime here so just park on Richards or that scary-looking parkade at the corner. Just don’t go running here for quality sashimi or cool rolls.

I stopped in at Fumiyoshi at 7pm on a Thursday. The place was empty except for myself and one other single female sitting alone. She was drinking beers; I was eating a veggie sushi combo. The music: instrumentals of Christmas songs. Did I mention it was late January? The food was decent for the price. Atmosphere could have been worse. The service was friendly and prompt, but then, there were only two of us in there. I imagine this place does a good business at lunch. I’m glad they were open past 5 that day for me, though I kind of wonder why they’d bother if it’s that empty on a Thursday evening!

The fish is fresh, there are a lot of intense sushi rolls. I would recommend this place for someone who likes the ‘creative’ kind if sushi rolls, there is a humongous menu full of them. They have a wasabi tobiko that is quite good. The fish as a stand alone just isn’t as tasty as some other places but it’s definitely decent.

I eat here quite regularly. The staff are friendly and are great at refilling cups. They play cheesy elevator music, which adds to the ambience and the interior is decked with traditional Japanese paintings. They have a great selection of foods, from teriyaki lobster to mango sushi!(Although be warned, for some reason the lobster is deep fried!) It’s a great place to eat with friends, and you can easily share meals to make it cheaper! They have some fantastic budget combos as well that are very filling! It’s warm and clean inside the restaurant

A great cozy place. I stumbled onto this place while on an excursion into Canada and was pleasantly surprised. The sashimi was very tasty and fresh. I especially loved the Saba(Mackerel). The service was very friendly. Our tea cups were constantly kept filled. The tea is complementary, which is a bonus for me since most Japanese restaurants charge. Another bonus here is that there is a huge TV playing Hockey games. The locals seem to enjoy a good game with some beers. As for the drinks, they are reasonably priced, especially the beer on tap, $ 3.99! The mixed drinks are tasty, yet strong. It is obvious they do not skimp on the liquer. Overall, my friends and I had a great time at Fumiyoshi. Strong drinks, fresh sashimi, and homely service marks this place as a great memory for my visit to Canada. Best of all, they even have phở!

Perfectly decent sushi et cetera. I had a seafood yakisoba and my friend had some sushi rolls, all of which were delicious and brought out right away(it helps that it was 9pm when we sat down and the place was empty, because there was only one waitress). The waitress was super-friendly. The menu is extensive, but not expensive. There’s so much on it, it’s hard to decide what to eat. There’s even a phở menu(although I prefer to get phở at a vietnamese restaurant, but maybe that’s just me). My yakisoba ended up being $ 11 including tax and tip, which isn’t bad. Also: clean bathrooms, definitely a plus. I would give Fumiyoshi 3.5 stars if I could. Everything was great; I just can’t think of anything outstanding or memorable that would boost it up to 4 stars.

I’ve been coming to Fumiyoshi since January because it’s the closest sushi restaurant to my school and the prices are good. Until yesterday they’d been very prompt and the food hadn’t once disappointed me. I hadn’t bothered reviewing it because I order the same thing at every sushi restaurant I go to, and it feels really repetitive writing about how ripe the avocado in my roll was… over and over again. Aaaaanyways… a group of 5 of us stopped here for dinner before class yesterday and the service was um, interesting. Apparently they are only reliable during the lunch rush because it seemed that there were only 2 employees working the entire restaurant last night. And it isn’t a small place. It’s pretty large and it’s not as though we were the only diners. We placed our orders around 5:10/15ish, and all of us ordered boozey drinks to go with our food. Our waitress seemed very flustered by this but quickly wrote our drink orders down anyways. 2 of our meals were brought out within 10 minutes, but our drinks were nowhere to be seen. Over the course of the next 45 minutes, in the most random order possible, all the different items came out which includes the drinks. I was done most of my food by the time my Long Island Iced Tea finally arrived, and 2 of the girls who ordered blended drinks didn’t get theirs until 10 minutes after they’d finished their food. 1 poor girl in our group FINALLY got her food at 5:55, when we’d ordered at 5:15ish, long after we had ALL finished our food and had to cram 3 giant rolls down super quick so we wouldn’t be too late for class. Are you freaking kidding me? Such crap, I know you only had 2 people back there(until another man appeared at the roll station at about 5:45… where the hell were you dude?) but COMEON. Food comments from around the table: –The teriyaki chicken was revolting, the coating was apparently mushy and sloppy and it was left on the plate and deemed«inedible». –The avocado in my rolls were rock hard and I didn’t even bother, I just poked the green out and ate empty rice rolls. –The prawn tempura was«meh» and most of the veggie tempura underneath was left on the plate. The rest was fine and the drinks were suuuuuuper strong, but they clearly are not bartenders if it took them 45 minutes to make a Pina Colada. We didn’t wait around to see how long it took for the bill, we just marched up separately and paid so we could get the hell out. The table full of people next to us literally(we timed it) waited 20 minutes to even give their orders, and had their menus stacked up neatly in a pile waiting. It’s hard to be mad at the waitress because I’m sure she was overwhelmed and flustered, but seriously hire some god damn employees. People MIGHT want dinner sometimes, just sayin’. Had this been my first time eating at Fumiyoshi they would have gotten 1 star from me, but since I know their lunch service is prompt and the food is usually much better I will give them 2 stars… seriously though, step up your dinner game. Another reason this entire experience soured me is because 1 other girl and I brought our classmates here after telling them how great it was. Uhhh, yeah. Thanks for making us late for class.

I sort of followed a lady in front of me into this place while looking for a quick lunch spot. And it did fill up surprisingly quickly. 2 stars for sushi, wasabi, ginger and soy sauce. For some reason, they all tasted off and that doesn’t happen often. The salmon sushi was unappetizingly fishy, and I had to refuse a bite more. 3 stars for the tempura portion of the lunch special. Hot and tasty. Good amount. 2 stars for overall presentation. Lunch special was served on a plate, with no saucer for soy sauce, a bowl of rice(?) and miso soup(also tasted off to me). 3 stars for quick service and hot tea. I feel like this place is a Chinese restaurant disguised as Japanese. Their menu is extensive but nothing is exceptional or cheap. Doubt I’ll go back.
