I used to come here with my family fairly regularly but only recently returned after a six? year hiatus(moving out of the country can do that). I fondly remembered the butter sauces and plump calamari and happily agreed to my brother’s dinner suggestion. Alas, although the interior is the same as my memory, the experience did not match. The restaurant was clearly understaffed, with a few empty tables still holding memoirs of their previous inhabitants. It took about ten minutes for a table to get cleared for us to sit, and about another 20 minutes before we were offered anything to drink. We were waiting on one person in the party who was running pretty late but it would have been nice to sip/munch while we were waiting. When the food arrived(1 hr into our visit… I know this because I had to feed the meter before the food arrived), the portion sizes were the same as I remember… except the lemon butter! It was about half the size it used to be. And the calamari, once plump and juicy, now a little frizzled and chewy. I think it will be a long time before I come back… at almost $ 20 a person it didn’t seem like good value for the food and experience that we had. The server was very nice throughout, but it was obvious that she was overloaded and same with the kitchen(again just one person cooking all the food).

We used to come here all the time but somehow lost track of it. Were happy to be back and we always get the same thing. The calamari deep friend on rice with the lemon butter sauce! Perfectly crispy calamari but this is definitely NOT a healthy meal option. Super heavy but the lemon butter sauce is worth it! Between two of us we shared a large order of the calamari and a large order of the Caesar Salad. Good portion sizes and enough for us. It’s a small restaurant but doesn’t seem to get super busy. We made a reservation on Open Table on our way over and there was still a lot of availability. Fish Café has an open kitchen so you might be stinky afterwards, be forewarned :)

Casual meals with higher prices, but I really like the food! Descent selection to choose from. For the main dish you can pick a fish(grilled, deep fried or blackened) with a side of rice or fries and a sauce to choose(Lemon Butter, Garlic Butter, Peri Peri, Tartar) I am a sucker for the Halibut and rice with Garlic Butter, but hate the price! $ 20.00 + is a bit high for a piece of fish and rice. As I was picking up an order to go I did see a salad come out with the added shrimp, it looked amazing so did the Calamari! They will be my next to try. There is a small patio(they will due reservations for the patio!) casual clean place, great food. 1 star off for the high prices

Took the family for dinner here as we wanted good, reasonably priced seafood. We are tourists to Vancouver and wanted to stay away from the more over-priced tourist places. Fish Café is a very casual, small venue but has delicious seafood. Blackened trout was excellent, grilled halibut was delicious and my son tried the swordfish and loved it. I had scallops. They were good. Especially grilled with the garlic butter sauce, but VERY small. Not even the size of a quarter. Was expecting something a bit bigger, especially at a seafood restaurant. Fries were home made. Rice was OK.

Most popular finger food in Vancouver is fish and chips. It can be found everywhere and no need to drive all the way to Richmond Fisher Terrace or White Rock to have a piece of fish and chips. Fish café is the one on Open Table reservation. Just a bit surprised of small café would take the rsvn. It’s small and cozy café, the menu is simple and on the wall. Soup was bland, fish and chips was ok, the fish burger was tiny with a lot of fries. If craving for fish and chips and collect points for open table, this is good choice.

This place used to be our go-to spot for a casual seafood dinner. My husband and I were dining here on a major seafood craving and we ordered the platter for 2… as usual. When the food eventually arrived, it all came on one platter… there was no salad… no mussels and while the platter was large, it just wasn’t the same quality we had expected based on past experiences. And when we got the bill, we found out we were charged extra for my halibut selection… that would have been nice to know up front! We’re too disappointed to come back here again.

Great fish, fresh and well prepared. Prices, although on the high side, fit the area and the quality. Daily fresh sheet selection. They can make almost any type of fish taste great. The simplicity of the fish preparation menu really helps them emphasize and highlight their strengths in focusing on the protein, Only problem I have is that they really skimp on the sides. It’s a very inexpensive way to complete an order just by throwing in some vegetables or making the rice a little less pedestrian. If they can take, say, what Nando’s across the street does for sides onto their fish meals this would be one of the best seafood restaurants in the GVRD.

I’ve walked by here a few times, however, finally came in the other day and tried some Snapper for the first time grilled. I am a fan of snapper. Fish was nice and flaky. Lightly seasoned, good portion of chips. The service was a bit slow, however, occupied myself by studying and doing homework. It is a relatively small place, however, was able to navigate my way through. It is fresh. Price is $$$ at $ 16 but it is very very fresh and tasty. The price has to do with the contribution of the neighborhood, therefore, this isn’t my go to place but as a sometimes place it is okay. Customer service was awesome.

I have been here a few times, and since my dietary change to avoid genetically engineered or «GMO» foods, I have had good experiences with the ability of the servers and kitchen in helping me to avoid the«evil four»: corn, canola, soy, cottonseed oil. The taste and food quality is consistent, and I have been nothing but happy. The reason for the four-star rating is because I found the service a bit slow last night. In fairness to the restaurant, they were quite busy, but they also had two waitstaff on duty, and the restaurant seating area is rather small as far as Vancouver restaurants go. The last two or three times I went, the same server was working(alone, on a Thursday), and she was awesome each time!

Marcus has the best Fish in Town at very fair prices .We have been going their for years and never have we ever been disappointed. The clam chowder is really good as is there selection. They have no fixed menu and only serve that Marcus buys for that day. Having said that they always have Salmon and Halibut. I have become a huge fan of their artic char. French Fries are beyond great .I always order half and half .Fish with half Greek salad and half French Fries… Its not large so I would recommend you call in advance

I’ve only ever eaten fish and chips here because when I crave some F+C I kind of crave it hardcore and usually can’t be bothered to go too far — bad combination, I suppose. I need to learn how to commit. I decided to go for one piece of fish in order to save room for some carrot cake for dessert(which was pretty decent!) Our server warned us that one piece was pretty tiny and she was right — a tiny piece of fish along with some mediocre, frozen-tasting fries isn’t really worth $ 10 to me, unfortunately! The fish was pretty tasty and the batter was probably crisp before I doused it in vinegar… The underside was nice so I’m assuming that’s how it was like before I got it all soggy, oops. The people next to us had some really nice looking grilled fish so I’ll have to venture away from my beloved and see if it tastes just as nice! Might go for rice instead, too…

I love this place. It has never disappointed me over the years, food has always been consistently delicious. Perfectly cooked grilled fish every time which I always have with a side of rice and garlic butter sauce. Instead of ordering the lemon butter sauce I always order the garlic butter sauce and just squeeze into it the lemon wedge that comes with it. Another must on the menu is the grilled calamari with the house salad with the house creamy sauce. Delicious!

If you want an affordable and good grilled fish with lemon or garlic sauce, go look for Marcus at Fish Café along 41st. in Kerrisdale. You will not be disappointed. I have patronized Fish Café for a long long time and I have never been disappointed by the consistency and quality of Marcus’ creation. And by the way, his grilled calamares is a 2-Star Michelin quality. No one comes close!

Pros: Quality of Ingredients, Service, Taste –High-quality ingredients –Friendly service –Great flavour Cons: Price, Selection, Space –Overpriced –Selection, despite being solid, doesn’t change very often and is a bit limited –A little cramped Notes: Catch of the Day –The Daily Special is consistently tasty and fairly priced Overall: If you’re looking for a nice place to kick back on a sunny, summer day or a comfortable place to grub on a rainy, cold day, Fish Café will deliver nicely.

It is what it is and that’s a great little fish café. They do it well as the food is amazingly consistent. The fish is always fresh and perfectly cooked. I’m a big fan of the blackened salmon which has a perfectly seasoned crust. The fries are thick cut, crunchy and great comfort food. The room is quaint and staff friendly especially chef Marcus.

Guess for what you pay in this area, what does one expect… Was here several months ago for lunch, and the fish n chips were uninspiring compared to the Stevestons, White rocks of the world… batter a bit too thick, and tartar was just alright. no doubt it’s a chic and nice place, casual date-worthy, but wouldn’t recommend here for the food.

I’ve been here before but don’t remember being impressed. That changed. I love trying out their lunch specials and especially love the swordfish quesadilla. I’d always substituted the fries for salads and that upped the price by $ 3 – 4 bucks. Definitely not worth it. Any fish blackened is yummy. This place seems pretty busy nowadays. The waiter is pretty friendly and attentive.

A solid place for fish and chips. It’s no Go Fish, but an acceptable substitute if you don’t want to wait in a long line and can get to Kerrisdale. Their halibut burger was delicious. Fries were well seasoned and crispy. The clam chowder was pretty good, but I wished it were a little richer and creamier. The grilled salmon was slightly undercooked, but that’s just my preference. Overall, I liked Fish Café. It’s cute inside and the service was really friendly. All good stuff people.

This is an excellent little fish restaurant, with a good basic selection of simply prepared fish. My one big complaint is that they don’t seem to be concerned about using Oceanwise seafood options…

The owner is a dick. I used to enjoy myself here, but having overheard how he speaks to his employees(and about customers), I really prefer not to support his business. I also sent back some improperly-cooked scallops, and I could hear him yelling about it from the kitchen. It’s Vancouver: there are a lot of fish in the sea. Throw this one back.
