Really excellent place. Super helpful, knowledgable staff. They helped me clean the dust and gunk out of my laptops (no more whirring fan!) and change the battery on one of them (which they didn’t even charge me for). After an extremely aggravating experience at the Apple store down the street, this place was a breath of fresh air.

They have a very unique service, they really care about their jobs and they wont do unessesary service to charge you more, thank you!

Highly recommend Firefly for all repair needs! I dropped my brand new phone… for which replacement screens aren’t even available yet… and Vlad at Firefly was extremely helpful in ordering the part and keeping me informed on it’s shipping status & getting it fixed the same day the part arrived. The excessive amount of emails I sent were always responded to right away… even when the store was closed! They also have the best warranty coverage for repairs. You would be making a mistake taking your repairs anywhere else :) Thank you Firefly!!!

I have an iPhone 3GS and I’ve been trying to hold out until either a) I run out the last year of my Telus contract or b) they announce the iPhone 5 (or preferably both). The phone’s getting a bit slow, but I wasn’t having any other problems until I realized that what I thought were broken headphones was actually a broken headphone jack.
At first, I thought I’d fix it myself, but unlike a screen replacement, it didn’t look so easy (the headphone jack, volume control, and ringer switch are all connected via some very fragile looking ribbon connector). So, I took the phone into the Apple Store, where the only option other than upgrade was to buy an out-​of-​warranty replacement for $ 180+tax.
A friend at work suggested Firefly, so I took it in. The guy behind the counter took a look at it and let me know it would be $ 55+tax to fix (he even pulled out an old disassembled phone to show me the parts he’d be replacing), let me know it would be an hour and a half or so, and sent me on my way at about 3pm.
By the time I returned after work at 5pm, the phone (or at least the part he worked on) was functioning as good as new. When I gave it a quick test, he even implored me to test it harder before I left.
I didn’t take a long look at the rest of their stuff, but they seemed to have a pretty great selection of computer and phone parts as well as chargers/​chords/​cables for a bunch of different makes and models of phones and laptops too.
TL;DR version: friendly, efficient service for a busted iPhone at less than ¹⁄₃^rd the price of an out-​of-​warranty replacement.

A geek’s idea of heaven
I have purchased quite a bit of computer equipment from Firefly. From a home server which runs like a charm, to small stuff like cables, RAM and drives. This is a small, family run operation — a bit fly-​by-​the-​seat-​of-​your-​pants in some ways, but they typically know what they are talking about, won’t BS you if they don’t, offer some great advice, and are significantly less expensive than many of the other computer outlets downtown. They are small, and as a result don’t carry a lot of big name brands. They have a lot of geek stuff for the «cool» factor that keeps me stopping by. Definitely worth checking out –across from the Flight Center in the basement of Bentall 2.
