I love the dirty bowl! Probably the best value for food truck in Vancouver. The best part were the beets but lately the beets are gone :(please bring it back to the bowl. Value 5⁄5 Atmosphere 4⁄5 Service 4⁄5 Quality 5⁄4 18⁄20

Wandered past this cute little food truck close to Canada Place. Ordered the turducken taco($ 5) as it sounded intriguing. It was okay, wasn’t particularly wowed by it, but it wasn’t bad. The pineapple relish was a nice touch. Would say that this didn’t leave me craving to go back, but would eat here if there wasn’t any other good options. Just eh.

Visited the truck during the StrEAT Food Truck Festival in New Westminster this year. With a decent lineup, my friends and I decided to try as the menu had an extensive list of «turducken» options. I ordered a turducken taco, which was only $ 5. However, I was slightly disappointed at how little meat was wrapped in the soft tortilla. I was also overwhelmed by the big pieces of scallions which overpowered the rest of the flavours in the dish. I would really want to give their food a second chance, I felt like I just picked the wrong item on the menu.

Ordered the dirty rice bowl. Wasn’t a fan of the pickled slaw, normally I like slaw but this had an odd flavor. I got it without mayo because seriously when did we start putting mayo on everything ? It’s a good truck but I’m not going«Oh shit there’s Fat Duck! Let’s get it!» It’s more like«Oh Fat Duck is here that’s good, is there anything else? No? Okay let’s get some Fat Duck.»

The Dirty Bowl. Pork Belly, Egg, Pickled slaw, shredded Duck, all with a mayo sauce on top of rice. Amazing! Yes, it’s an extremely heavy meal, and no, you probably couldn’t eat it everyday but it’s delicious and worth a try! Unilocal has them on Dunsmuir/Hamilton, but I usually see them on Cordova/Howe

I have eaten here twice and both times it was delicious. The Hawaiian Hog sandwich was so good. I still consider it the best sandwich I have ever eaten. Tried the Dirty Bowl today. It is also very good. Definitely a great truck to buy food from.

This was my first food truck meal in Vancouver after hearing about the explosion of the scene over the last decade. It was pretty damn impressive to receive high quality food from a van on the street. The Duck Confit was superb! It was not the most delicate thing to eat but who cares when it tastes this good? I wanted to try everything on the menu though … will have to go back!

Location: On W Cordova off Howe. After being given 3 different directions on how to find Fat Duck, and walking around for 50 minutes, I finally found the Fat Duck Eatery. Blisters were forming on my feet, and I didn’t care. Well no, if the food sucked, I’d be pissed. But I was finally here and ready to chow down on some duck. I arrived at 1:15, and just beat out the other 10 people arrived just after I did! After getting my food, I hobbled down to the pier, and thought this food had better be worth the blisters. And it was. I ordered the dirty bowl($ 10) which had Japanese rice cooked in duck drippings, with some pickled slaw, cilantro & green onion, Kung Pao mayo dressing(no idea whats in this, but its tasty), shredded duck, a perfectly cooked oozy egg, and a slice of grilled pork belly. I’m trying to cut back on my carbs, but not today, no ma’am. The egg seemed to tie everything together, I loved the sauce on the seasoned rice, the duck was nice and tender. If it were me, I’d hit the rice with a bit of furikake(seasoned mix of dried seaweed and sesame seeds) Sadly, I am knocking a star off because of the pork belly. This was the part that I was looking forward to the most, but unfortunately, it was incredibly dry. I saw it come off the grill, but it looked like hard stiff cardboard. It was pretty much scratching its way down my throat. not nice! Not sure what happened, but it was definitely overcooked. I don’t know, but they probably had an off day, and am hoping its normally a lot more soft and tender, melt-in-your-mouth kind of feel. Anyway, I still maintain that it was worth my walk. I’d order it again, and maybe pass a word to the chef about the belly, it’d be disappointing if it was dry a second time! Next time, I’d get half rice, and add on more slaw(and a touch more of that dressing). They also serve a number of different dishes, such as the duck confit«philly style» sandwich, and another grilled cheese type sandwich, worthy of trying but I’m addicted to the dirty bowl because the slaw seems to balance out everything. Anyway, it was well worth the 50 minute hobble in the search for one of the best food trucks in the city. So put your comfy walking shoes on, and get to the Fat Duck Eatery. Double check their twitter feed on that day to see where they’re located(location or hours might change), but it seems that their standard spot is W Cordova off Howe.

Dear god this place is good. Honestly I haven’t even gone past their Dirty Rice Bowl, the rest of their stuff looks tasty but the Dirty Bowl is such a sublime meal I struggle to deviate. Pickled vegetables, pulled pork, pork belly, with pickled vegetables for texture and something to stand out against the fatty meat topped with fresh herbs on a compact bed of sushi rice? I’ve tried most of the food around Vancouver downtown core for lunch and nothing comes close to the dirty rice bowl. And the staff is always friendly. Just be warned, lineups can be long. Get there before 12 or after 1.

Probably one of Vancouver’s best gourmet food trucks! The menu is simple(4 choices) and the duck and pork dishes are original and full of flavours(European ciabatta sandwich inspired to Asian). I have been there several times and the quality and service are top-notch every time.

Mmm, mmm. Stopped after a 14 km walk and bought one of the Duck confit sandwiches. 2 hours later the delicious mix of flavours is still dancing in my mouth. Friendly staff and service with a smile. Great work! Thank you!

Mannnn the pulled pork, the pork belly, the duck. yum! Put together beautifully with a tangy ‘salad’ that has a nice acidity to cut the fat. Only down side was waiting an hour for the food after the order but man the food is excellent.

It seems rather fitting that my first review of my second Unilocaly year be for the place that made me consider — if only for a second — leaving my job so I could spend my days following them around getting happily plump. These gents are magic. Pure, unadulterated sandwich magicians. They had been on my places to hit after Josh G threw down«mind blowing» in his review. I’m a big fan of the sandwich, and if meat and bread is being put together in mind blowing ways in this city — i’m going to investigate. Enter Hawkers Market Christmas edition. I was throwing my own shindig and so after set up; party; party and goodbyes, I literally threw myself at this food truck in post party planning desperation. They weren’t totting their regular menu, but if their Turducken sandwich is any indication: they can do NO wrong. Duck confit; braised turkey; some sort of cheese; BACON jam… I can’t do it justice in the description. You really need to take notes. Because when THEY explain their sandwiches, you’ll actually drool. Before the sandwich even hits your lips. It’s not good for you… but I don’t care. It’ll run you $ 11 roughly for a sandwich… still don’t care. Both sacrifices are totally worth it — time and time again. Fat Duck: I love you. And i’ll see you many a time in 2014. Pro Tip: you ALWAYS want the bacon jam. Go big or go home people. *Update* They’ve extended the Turducken into a winter feature! RUNTOTHEM!

I found out about Fat Duck Mobile Eatery truck while I was at Hawkers Market. After seeing people eat their delicious looking sandwiches, I just had to try it out. I ordered their special which was Turkducken Grill’d Cheese Style Sandwich. After one bite, I was blown away by the amazing savoury flavours of the different varieties of meats found inside the sandwich which consisted of duck confit, smoked chicken, beer braised turkey. It also had some gooey melt brie which made it even more addictive. I’m also a big fan of their added cranberry, pear, and ginger chutney jam to the outer part of this amazing sandwich! It did take a while to get my sandwich after ordering it, but it was worth the wait.

I went to the Fat Duck Mobile Eatery a little while ago after seeing the review done by Foodology. Their location makes it very convenient to grab a quick meal and then head over to CBC for their free outdoor music performances(going on till early Sept). I’ve only had their Duck Confit Philly style sandwich, but man was that good! Actually, just about anything duck confit is good so it’s almost impossible to go wrong with this one. It’s got marinated mushrooms, pickled red onions, parm/truffle mayo, and swiss cheese — all for $ 10 and includes some excellent crispy chips + pop. Really good sandwich, but I recommend you actually let it sit for a minute or so. Dig into the chips first. The reason for this is that the duck actually has a lot of juices, and if you just let it sit for a bit, the amazing bun will soak up all that good stuff. Not only will it taste way better, it won’t make such a big mess when you dig into it! Don’t worry, the bun is pretty thick and nicely toasted, so you’ll still get that crunch! Add $ 1 and you can get their watermelon spritzer. Highly recommended on a hot day. It’s like a slightly carbonated watermelon juice without all the added sugar you get from bubble tea places.

Wow, for just stumbling upon this place wile wandering the city, it was an amazing find. I was listening to the noon concert this week at CBC and saw this little truck down the street in front of the queen Elizabeth playhouse, a bit down from where Unilocal is showing it. Duck, pork belly, and beef cheeks. What to order? Luckily I had the DC with me and we got a duck and the beef cheeks. They were even nice enough to cut them in half so we could swap and taste each. A little watermelon crazy drink who’s name I can’t remember and we were all set. With the music from the down the street going we had a great little lunch. The Ducks confit was excellent but the pickled shallots really brought the sandwich together and took it to the next level. highly recommend. And I want one right now just thinking about it. The beef cheeks were super tender and tasted like a pot roast sandwich, only better. The carrots on this have been pickled as well and add a great dimension to the taste. They make all these pickles themselves and the care really shows. The rolls they use are excellent and slightly toasted as well, given this not only great tastes but good textures as well. Works on so many levels. In my short time in VC this was the best food truck by far for taste. Plus, the sandwiches come with a ton of chips that are crispy and yummy. They try to get this spot near the library and the QE playhouse so take a moment and zip over here and give them a try.
