Combining years of experience and continued education into a signature skin care philosophy, Facial Expressions specializes in Skin CPR™: Calm. Protect. Renew. Non-invasive technologies and the most advanced skin care products available to the Canadian market combine to relieve redness, manage blemishes and sensitivities, replenish the skin’s moisture barrier, and safely rejuvenate the skin for improved texture, tautness and firmness.

History

Established in 2013.

After years as a Lead Skin Care Therapist & Trainer in a Vancouver-based facial chain, Kristen Cheyne opened her boutique skincare studio to create a private sanctuary with truly personalized skin care treatments that evolve with the needs of her clients.

In 2016 Facial Expressions is relocating and expanding to include a diverse tribe of skin, wellness, and health practitioners.

Kristen Cheyne brings years of specialized skin care experience to her studio. With a focus on effective, botanical products and non-invasive techniques, her professional style is one of nurturing and guidance. She partners with her clients to reveal their optimal skin health and confidence.

Kristen continually seeks knowledge, keeping up to date with the latest advances in ingredients and techniques with numerous advanced skin courses every year.

As an advocate for her peers and the spa and wellness industry, Kristen serves as Secretary/Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Esthetician and Spa Professionals Association British Columbia.

Kristen is not only a great esthetician but she really knows her stuff when it come to skin and what is good and not good for it. I feel like the whole world has floated away when she is working on my skin, they’re that relaxing. She’s also really thorough at pore extractions without much discomfort or redness which is really important in my books because I struggle with this skin issue. If you’re looking for a great facialist I would recommend Kristen for her knowledge, her touch, as well as her down to earth — ness!

Highly recommend! Kristen is so knowledgable and skilled. You can tell she really cares about her work and your skin. I have had a few facials in the past in which some fancy creams were put on my face and I was left alone to absorb them. It was relaxing, but not really worth it. At Facial Expressions, Kristen diagnosed my skin type and problems, treated me with the right products, recommended (but did not push) a few things to try at home, and I noticed a real improvement in my skin. I’ve been back twice since, each time adding a new helpful product to my skincare routine and feeling like my skin is getting younger and younger. I’m thrilled! It’s a splurge, but there’s no hiding your face, so it’s worth investing in. Also, she works on your skin the whole time — massaging, applying, cleaning, hot towels, treating, and filling any absorbing time with hand/arm/neck/scalp massages for a complete stress-busting session. She’s also a great conversationalist, so you can chat away or just soak in the music and relaxation. Just go!

I couldn’t recommend Facial Expressions enough! Every single time I go I am delighted with the experience I have. I have tried a few different facials here and they have all been wonderful. Kristen is all about helping her clients. She is so caring and makes you feel calm and comfortable throughout the whole session. She has a range of wonderful products in stock (which I myself just can’t help but buy because they are amazing!) but she never makes you feel like you have to buy anything. Kristen is always willing to answer questions even by email after your appointment and is a wealth of knowledge! If you are thinking about booking an appointment, stop thinking and BOOK! It is guaranteed to be delightful!

I have visited Kristen twice, and both visits have been surprisingly pleasant. I tried two different kinds of facial and I have to admit, Kristen is AMAZING! She chooses the most appropriate products for my skin condition and she gives the most thorough and penetrating massage on the skin I have ever experienced. I love how my face feels and looks after the sessions. Even a week later, my face still has that dewy and glowy appearance. I look forward to my next appointment already as Kristen whips up another batch of her miracle ingredients to upkeep the plumpness of my skin!

My situation: Acne with tons of post inflammatory marks. I swore to myself even if my acne became really bad, I would try all methods possible before taking Isotretinoin. I was so lucky that I met Kristen. She is the most wonderful woman with great skills and awesome products. After the 1^st session people immediately noticed that my marks faded a little (it takes time) and there was a glow to my skin. My face was also parched because I just moved from Asia (more humid) and I really can feel the difference after my facial! Now I know why she is booked up soooo quickly, great service and great results! :)

Over the past year I have been unfortunate with my skin. Acne that I never got when I was a teenager just felt like it was taking over my skin. I was almost in tears last week when searching for someone to save my face. I found Facial Expressions here on Unilocal and through your reviews I made an appointment.
Facial expressions has an online appointment scheduling tool. It made the whole process very easy! I could see the times avaliable and the dates that Facial expressions were open, right from my smartphone. I appreciated that a lot. I even got a reminder and a calendar entry.
Upon meeting Kristin who owns Facial Expressions, I noticed how comfy her studio felt. Arriving without make up and feeling very down, she imeditally made me feel at home. She wanted to get to know me and my past and my skin. It felt like a very personable experience and I could tell she cared about what I had to say and wanted to help.
The whole facial process was very relaxing, even the extractions. During downtime she gave me a wicked arm massage. This was amazing! Facials that I have had in the past, the lady left the room to let me soak. This massage really showed me that she cared and wanted me to relax. Kristin made light conversation and the smell of her products were very delightful. I like how she didn’t leave the eye thingies on the entire time and checked in to see if I was okay.
At the end of my facial we talked about products. I happened to purchase a couple to try because I honestly feel so out of options to make my skin healthy again. I’ll try anything. Her products are reasonably priced and I’m looking forward to seeing them work. She also told me about a mini acne blemish blaster that she offered. It’s a 25 minute pore cleaning and bacteria zapping facial. I’m going to try this one next. This made me feel like I was cared about personally and financially.
I would highly recommended this studio if you are looking for a great facial and a great overall skin experience.

Kristin is awesome. Unlike your standard spa facial experience, she’s not trying to aggressively push products or upsell you on a some kind of weird seaweed mud bath that you don’t really need. Instead, Kristin has a marvelous therapeutic approach to skincare, and provides amazing custom facials with high quality products (as well as a few add-on services — I got a lovely foot treatment as well). I’ve walked out of facials with my skin bright red and irritated — not so with Facial Expressions. My skin still looked great even days after. Also, Kristin cares so much about helping you make the best decisions with your skin and products that she’s been great about answering a ton of product questions for me by e-mail. Also, she works out of a cute little studio in South Granville, and is super nice and approachable. Can’t recommend Facial Expressions highly enough!

I found Kristen through on online deal and am so glad I did! Facial Expressions is a neighbourhood gem that is just off of South Granville and is a lovely little spot which is obvious that the owner, Kristen, takes great pride in. On entering her studio Kristen made me feel welcome and comfortable. Before getting started she asked me about myself and my skin care routine and took a good look at my skin. I appreciated that she tailored the treatment to my needs and I absolutely love the product line that she uses. I have sensitive skin and have reacted to a number of the top lines most commonly used in Vancouver spas and yet my skin has responded very positively to the line that Kristen works with. Adding to the experience, Kristen also provides lovely additions such as hand and feet massage which are amazing — I left my first visit feeling refreshed, pampered and so excited to have found Kristen in my neighbourhood. I now look forward to my monthly visits with Kristen.

TL;DR: Best Facials in Vancity
Facial Expressions Skincare Studio is conveniently located in South Granville right next to Granville Island. It’s part of a wellness center with a massage therapist and acupuncturist upstairs. This review is about Kristin’s facial services as I haven’t tried all other services. She is honestly the best skin care specialist I’ve ever encountered. I’ve always appreciated facials but, until stumbling upon her in Yaletown, felt I was basically paying for a glorified face massage. Not only is she knowledgeable, she is a lovely human being and you can tell she truly cares and has a passion for what she does. During the first consultation, she analyzes your skin and comes up with a tailored treatment. Most of her treatments include: exfoliation, facial masks and a brilliant facial massage. But her arm and hand massage is what really got me hooked. «La cerise sur le Sunday» as we say in French. They are to die for. I always leave her glowing inside and out already dreaming about my next visit.
