Elite Event @ Mink, A Chocolate Café

I’ve wanted to finish this review for a very long time… but I’m going to keep it this short. and my comments are as follows:

Mink has left me speechless with it’s super super creamy ganache to the point where you would not believe I was drinking not fat milk. frothed to perfection, with kaluha and carolans, it’s a taste of heaven.
The earl grey infused vodka with baileys was out of this world and an invention that needs to be patented — courtesy of our Community Manager!
Did I tell you I love rainbows — the selection of chocolates offered are so colourful it makes me smile!
My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I think the peppermink hot chocolate would go very well with my candycane chocolate chip cookies right now.
I can’t wait to take my friends here next week.
Oh and I LOVE my lunchbox :)

My Doctor says Chocolate is bad for me very bad. And to spike anything is even more bad… So I was bad by having spiked dark hot chocolate that was sinfully delicious. I’ve been saying sinfully delicious alot these days. There must be a pattern here somewhere.
Props to all the people at Mink and the wonderful patronage of all of those that helped make this event a blast. The Christmas card writing thing was cool. I just wish I was as creative as everyone else was…:(Everyone is so very nice and I’m glad and thankful for Crystal for everything she has done.
Great to meet some new Elites and their +1’s. 2010 will sure be a great one. Wish you all the best over the holidays and we’ll chat online.
While I recover from that sugar blast. I’ll continue to dream of not sugar plums Fairies, but of Mink Chocolate bon bons dancing in my head.

Mmmm, the hot chocolate is fabulous. I had the dark chocolate peppermint which tastes exactly like the mint Girl Guide cookies that I love! Hubby’s milk hot chocolate was yummy too! Little chocolates served with your hot chocolate definitely make sure you get your chocolate fix!
Cute place and the chocolates and truffles they make look adorable. If I wasn’t trying to avoid pre-​holiday calories, I would have bought some of their chocolate bars since they have a fabulous selection of flavors!
Mink is quite small so I’m not sure how busy it gets during regular hours. The Elites had to be split up (Hi to the 6 o’clockers that I missed) but it was great to have a mix of regulars and newbies!
Thanks to the Terminal City Club for the great appys to go along with it. Thanks again to Crystal for organizing — love my new lunch box :) And thanks to those who made me feel better about the Barry/​Brett confusion — glad I’m not the only one :) Promise it won’t happen again!

Wow — Super sweet swag, yummy nibbles, and a room full of Unilocalers — what else could you ask for? I sure picked the right event to make my newbie entrance!
Loved the chance to try out a place I wouldn’t normally get to — the dark hot chocolate was very nice, creamy but not too sweet. I dove into the take home truffles right away, delicious slightly boozy dark and milk chocolate truffles. mmmn. chocooocolatee.
Terminal City snacks were greatly appreciated, the deep fried prawns were particularly good. Thanks to Crystal for the Earl Grey infused vodka shots too! Absolutely brilliant idea. definitely going to try it out!

Wouldn’t it be great if we could always order our hot chocolates «spiked’? A shot of Kahula here and there, a shot of Baileys here and there…
We were given the choice of regular milk hot chocolate or dark hot chocolate. I wished they also had white hot chocolate so instead I opted for the milk hot chocolate, spiked. I love the pretty lavendar accented sleeves on the otherwise plain white cup. I take one sip and WOW was all I thought. Now this is REAL hot chocolate. Smooth, creamy, rich chocolately drink, all compressed in one cup of goodness! It’s not too sweet. This is probably the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had.
Canapes were also brought around, supplied by Terminal City Club. There were lots of selection. Battered prawns, samosas, spring rolls, steak skewers! I especially liked the steak skewers. Who knew steak on a skewer could be so good?! The cookies and macaroons were also tasty. I had the yellowish one-​I think it’s a mango flavoured one? This was very yummy too, it seems like they used fresh mango for this.
A myriad of differently flavoured chocolate bars were also available for sale. Love the different colored packaing for each flavour. Ganache filled, organic chocolate, dark, milk, white chocolate-​something for everyone! Cute names for the bars too. Love Potion was roasted banana, dark rum in a dark chocolate ganache-​now who can resist that? I’m going to have to come back and buy a whole bunch of these.
They also have these «Artist Series» bons bons-​with beatiful images on them! You can buy them individually or in a gift box. Very unique.
So many other items that I wanted to try on their menu. Traditional fondue, and waffles!
You can also «Peppermink» or «Cinnamink» any drink– they spike it with organix peppermint oil or with ancho and chipotle peppers, and cinnamon. I love customization! They also have Mighty Leaf teas for those non coffee/​non chocolate beverage drinkers. (I love the Vanilla Bean flavour!)
I like the whole idea of exchanging Xmas cards-​thoughtful, and I got to meet someone new! The Earl Grey infused vodka+Baileys shots were oh so yummy! What a great idea! Three great things, all in one? I’m hooked.

My first ELITE event arriving as a +1. Great fun, great food & hot chocolate, and met lots of awesome Unilocal Eliters. Can I possibly ask for more?

We went over to Mink,
and had a cocoa drink.
And after our glasses went clink,
we were asked to think,
how we would deck our holiday cards, with ink.
T’was over in a blink,
Crystal bon voyage’d us with a wink,
and most us left, looking slightly more pink.
Props to Jessica for weaving through the crowds with those heavy trays filled with Terminal City Club’s toothsome appetizers.
A special thanks to the Mink staff who were my two favourite f’s tonight– funny and friendly. I have to say that I’m mighty impressed by their clever menu names and I cannot wait to return to try some of their Shakespearean-​named chocolates.
To Crystal, thanks for organizing this cocoa soirée and setting us up with some swag– you truly are a gem!

Chocolate, lunchboxes and xmas cards from fellow Unilocalers (OMG, Sarah O., you almost made me cry with your lovely note) were the highlights of the event at Mink. Thanks also to the Terminal City Club for the swanky snacks — deep-​fried prawns with the curried dipping sauce were delicioso. Too bad it was only an hour :(Thank you Crystal for another sweet event.
I’m thinking of you all tomorrow when I’ll pack my truffles for lunch in my awesome new Unilocal lunchbox. Any ideas for food worthy of filling that Thermos?

Pretty damn cool place to have a little indulgence via chocolate spiked beverages & goodies on a plate. I didn’t sample much since I ate beforehand, but I did have a raspberry macaron. YUM.
I loved the welcome shot, holy earl grey infused vodka!
The owner was pretty cool and you couldn’t go wrong with the chocolate lined goodie walls. I will be back to get some dark chocolate infused with chipotle.
I met a couple more Unilocalers tonight, which was awesome & I just really think Unilocalers are the nicest bunch. Once again, wish I could have talked to everyone.
Always gotta give kudos to Crystal for always having everything so perfectly organized! Really love the lunchbox, it’s always nice to have a cool gift.
