Downtown Nissan

I heard that they were having a Grey Cup tailgate party, but I hadn’t actually realized that they would be bringing in the actual Grey Cup! Free food & drink, some distinguished BC Lions players, AND the Grey Cup.

I’m really surprised by some of these negative ratings. I purchased a used car there just over a year ago and it was a breeze. Everyone I spoke to was helpful, and even though it was not an expensive car, they made sure it was tuned up, put new tires on it without me asking, and had it clean and ready to go exactly when I said I’d come and get it. Since then I’ve been in a couple of times to do things like an oil change and tire changeover, and to fix a light that kept going on, and it was all smooth sailing. I especially liked Cam and Ernie, and the service woman was very nice too. If I was going to buy another car I would check with them first. I am still really happy about my purchase, and that’s not always the feeling you get after buying a used car.

I was extremely disappointed by the service here. I phoned to inquire about a Micra and a trade-​in on my current car, and the salesman I spoke to was rushed and curt on the phone. He told me he would phone me back with the information I had asked for within 15 minutes. Half an hour later, a different salesman phoned me back to ask the same questions again, and once again had to call me back before providing the information.
Despite his condescending attitude on the phone (when I said the trade-​in quote was lower than I expected, he said, «Yeah, well, it usually is.»), I decided to go in for a test drive. He was disengaged and disinterested, seemed to doubt my ability to make the purchase, and told me that I couldn’t have the car in my first colour choice.
Despite the salesman’s attitude, I loved the car, so I went down to Marine Drive and bought it there. Oh, and I got the colour I wanted. They had no problem getting it for me.

Took my car for service and Major cleanup after cross country trip
My service rep was U. B which explained everything that is going to be done, called when something was not discussed to get approval and was VERY friendly and professional.

Constant upselling gets annoying after a while. ;-) Ended up going to Kal Tire for much better service.

I was going to write a glowing review of Downtown Nissan but they dropped the ball post-​sale of used car I purchased from them. Discovered damaged back tail light after purchase. Did have car inspected before buying but damaged seal only revealed after rainfall. Two body shops confirmed that damage was long standing and present at time of purchase. Downtown Nissan would not replace or even offer some kind of deal in repairing. Salesman I had dealt with would not respond to my emails. Very disappointed. Best way to evaluate a business is how they handle a problem post sale. Downtown Nissan offers no followup customer service once a car is driven off the lot. I would. not recommend them for buying a used car.

I took my car to this dealership for major warranty work (engine issues). Dave Port, the service manager, was very easy to deal with, and helped me along to get the whole mess sorted out with Nissan Corporate.
I also liked the fact he was very honest and open about the whole ordeal, and the top notch quality of service my car received. The whole place looks very clean and well managed.
I also did non-​warranty related work (front strut mounts), perfectly fixed as well. Thanks a lot guys!

We went in to Downtown Nissan on two occasions to look at their used cars. Our experience there will have us avoiding this dealership for awhile.
Their used cars have two prices. Walk-​in prices are $ 2−3k more than what you see advertised on Craigslist.
Being a proper dealership, you would expect a level of standard when it comes to used cars. The car they showed us had a headlight out. Not a big deal, but that should have been an easy fix before putting it on the sales lot. We tested the power windows, and the motor on almost all the windows were clearly dying. They struggled to go back up, so the salesman made a desperate attempt to say «No, it’s fine» and started yanking the window back up with his hands (We had a good laugh afterwards). We asked if the timing belt was done, the salesman had no idea. There wasn’t a sticker indicating it had been done, so the salesman said «I’ll have that checked out for you but timing belt jobs are inexpensive, maybe $ 500». I’m sorry, we are not fools because we knew that the job would not be cheap for the particular car we were looking at. We gave him our information to get back to us on the timing belt, but he never did. He was at least smart enough to know we weren’t buying from him.

Funny how any business grabs at naming their business after ‘downtown’ even though they’re on the fringe, probably better for search engine optimization, but I digress.
They’re located by City TV, a block away from Olympic Village; I recall this being either a Hyundai or a smaller car dealership, but I digress yet again.
I want a bigger truck, so decided to kick the tires at the Armada, but that has to be ordered in: guess a big-​a$$ V8 isn’t gas-​friendly nor high demand. surprisingly, Michael showed me the new Pathfinder, which is a 3 row, 7 passenger, bigger than it looks.
Still, and this is why i’m not in the car sales biz, is why the 2015 is a ‘better deal’ than 2014… i get that depends on the leasing/​finance rates but anyways,…he was cool in not forcing to bring in the Armada for a test drive… yes, even with lower gas prices, we know that’s not going to stay forever.
But this dealership has a gorgeous lounge room on the left, with a fireplace under a flat screen TV, and comfortable sofas.
Free starbucks coffee machine, as to be expected.
Unsurprisingly, not an overly spacious showcase compared to the ones at the Rmd Automall.

I have a Mitsubishi, and continue to take my vehicle to this dealership for repairs. My main recommendation is see U.B. Yes UB. He goes the extra, makes sure he explains things to you and instills trust, something I am not great at with Auto Service. I have been there quite a few times and the experience is not as good without UB managing it. (He always ensures my car is washed and vacuumed too).

I wanted to get Daytime Running Lights installation done for Nissan Maxima 2000, I called them to get the quote and they said they said they can only when their technician will take a look into my car, as each car has different system. I scheduled an appointment and took my car to them, the guy at the counter said they will charge me $ 60 to do the analysis and then they can give me the estimate.
I was like really? it’s your company car, not from any other manufacturer and they could have just looked into the wiring diagram if they were not sure and would have given me the estimate. I am not sure how they got the Nissan dealership if they don’t have much idea of their own car.
I called Marci Automotive in North Vancouver and he quoted me $ 100 for everything (parts + installation) and got it done from them now. Absolutely no inspection or Analysis, and quite cheap.

Man, I’m conflicted. As I’ve mentioned before I hate buying vehicles (however Port Moody Honda was great, but they didn’t have the right kind of vehicle), and this time was no exception, but I do like the new vehicle… but it was such a crap experience.
First, I get it, not a lot of margin on new cars, so dealers make their money on the used cars (which is why you get hosed on trade in value). So this place was no different. They had a sale on a 2012, and gave us about $ 500 less than what we expected on our trade, which is about 5500 less than what the going asking price is. But whatever we’re lazy, so I’ll let that pass. And the list price seemed reasonable (somewhat) so I’ll let that pass. But the promises and ineptitude of everything else, I can’t.
Our salesman was a very nice guy, but he made promises he couldn’t keep. Likely because he was new and wanted to impress with sales. First they gave my wife a test drive in an alternate vehicle and say yes it’s eligible for the low % financing. Not telling her it doesn’t apply to our vehicle as it’s a year older (even though brand new). Second, our warranty was already 6 month expired because a year old means it had to be registered on Jan 1 (didnt’ find that out until the end process), the sales rep doesn’t know hardly anything about the vehicle because he’s new so I don’t really get a thorough walk through, also promises 3mo’s XM radio but because it was registered Jan 1 and we bought in July, no dice. I find that out the day after I drove it off the lot. I send an email to the Sales Manager… no response.
Such an all around poor experience. Like I said, I do like the new vehicle, and overall I think we did get the best price, but the experience itself left such a bad taste. I wish Port Moody had a vehicle… it was just so much easier.

I wanted to upgrade my rating of downtown Nissan after my recent Murano service. The service in the service department was excellent, friendly, caring, thorough. You can feel, see, experience the difference happening in this dealership. I was very disappointed in my selection of buying my Murano here but that is now changing… thankful.
It is a new dealership and they are starting to really pull things together… congrats Downtown Nissan

I only come here to service my Murano and I cannot be any more please with their service for 1) they have the most competitive prices 2) they are upfront about their cost of service when asked 3) no BS on the detail of services done when asked 4) access to actual mechanic and 5) clear visibility to their service area where maintenance is performed to your vehicle 6) willing to look into and fix any issues brought up to them under warranty.
Their showroom as well as the service department area seem to be under constant improvement (i.e. renovation) since I started coming here since Jan 2012. I didn’t buy my vehicle here so couldn’t really comment on their customer service on the sales side of things but as far as their maintenance services go it’s as good as one gets. Yes, I have been to other Nissan dealers for service.
