Originally, I had my sights on coming here for the purpose of trying one of their dosas off the lunch menu. Unfortunately, I wasn’t paying close enough attention and ended up ordering one of the curry dishes off said lunch menu instead. Surprisingly, it was still a fantastic lunch! The curry itself was delicious. It was a mix between salty/savoury from the plentiful lamb pieces and then a hint of tangyness from the tomatoes used. The naan was also a superstar here. It had the perfect balance between chewiness and crispiness without losing any of its delicious oven flavouring. The papadum was also very fresh tasting in that it was warm, crispy, and had a strong chick pea taste. All in all, it was quite filling and tasty for 9.99. Would definitely want to come back still to try the dosas!

I came in at a busy hour, I guess. But I was very patient while standing awkwardly against the entrance. Place was busy obviously due to good ratings and undeniably delicious food, but this place seems to be getting greedy. Prices nearly doubled but service is awful. The clearly flustered front desk boy was terrible at coordinating. Owner lady gave me change from the«tip jar». She shortchanged me at first then gave me a dirty look when I looked at my change and threw another $ 1 coin in my hand. Food is good but bad service gave me an unneeded bad taste in my mouth.

The staff is very friendly and clean. Good service and they prep their veg and non-veg food separately. Food is also delicious

Im going to have to take a few stars off of my original review. We came here again last month and unfortunately it was a very disappointing visit. We ordered the lunch special. It’s suppose to come w the curry, naan, rice and papadam. Also got veg Pakora(tasted ok), and vada which was so stale and it wasn’t even hot. The papadam never came and when we asked for it, the tall waitress told us that they were«preparing» the oil. And it will be out shortly. Well the papadam never came and without explanation. Such poor customer service, if they didn’t have the papadam or they knew to wasn’t going to ready with our order they should have let us know and offered to give us more naan or rice! This place is constantly cheating out and trying to cut corners. It is very unfortunate as it does have some potential of being a good South Indian restaurant. Needless to say i will Never return to this place again. OLDREVIEW: Was here just last week for the second time. I had fish pakora and chicken masala dosa. Both are tasty! Service is always slow, they have one girl serving the whole place even when it’s busy. I can’t help but criticize the fact that they buy their naan from superstore. I noticed a bag of suraj brand naan in the kitchen and the guy was heating it up. I know this brand very well because I always buy it all the time from superstore. I can’t believe they charge $ 1.25 /order. You can buy them from superstore for $ 3 – 4 for a pack of 10.

We were out for a business errand and decided to stop here for lunch since it was close to our destination. The place was basic… good enough for a lunch but not a dining establishment in the least. No preset place settings or hostess or any effort put into décor or coziness. Just a plain fast food type of look. It got busy as it probably draws from the working neighborhood with less competition for restaurants around the area. We ordered the lamb dosa from their lunch special and fish Pakora to start. The fish Pakora were good and piping hot with crunchy coating. The chutneys or sauces accompanying the dish could have been much better. They needed more spice and more tang. The problem with most Indian restaurants is that they never leave any good sauces on the table. You have to ask for them and even then they give you the smallest dish or sampler of it that they can. I am indo Canadian myself and know that our sauces and chutneys can be so flavourful and almost invite you to eat more… but most restaurants won’t serve them thinking it’s a freebee that they are giving away. Even Dosa Corner charges $ 1 for a raita that could be much bigger and elaborate than the yoghurt with onions they served. To the lamb dosa… nice size… good filling… tasty…but taste could be much more pronounced and spicy. In fact they should ask the level of spicy heat you like your dosa to be. Overall it was a filling meal and tasty too but I wouldn’t spend $ 33 on that lunch again. Was good for the uninitiated palate but too mild for my taste.

Really great lunch spot in South Vancouver. The dosas and uppatham are unreal — some of the best I’ve ever had. Customer service is great here too, and the food is always ready fresh and quick. Ideal for lunch take-out, as you can call an order in and pick it up in five minutes flat. I have tried the spinach, paneer masala, and bhartha dosas and they are all solid. The ambiance is plain, more like a family hole-in-the-wall, so don’t expect anything fancy. Definitely worth trying for the food! I can’t wait to try more on their menu.

Best dosas ever!!! I tried a veggie option lined with coconut chutney and a potato filling. I also had chai and mango lassi and those were both delicious. All the food served here is so good!

Good food and good service… what more can you ask for? I got the dosa and it did not disappoint. My first time here and will be coming back for sure. Happy eating!

I have been to this place on numerous occasions and found the food to be good and reliable. The service is another matter. I tried to call ahead for a pick up order but no one answered the phone. Was told when I got there that they were too busy to answer the phone. There was a line up and I can see why. This place has got to have the slowest service I have experienced a in a long time. This has happened one too many times… so Dosa Corner is OFF my list of restaurants. Too bad they don’t care more about their consumers.

Have come here many times already. The food is always delicious! Sometimes the wait for your meal is long depending how busy it is. If you come at lunch, ask for the lunch menu which they may forget to offer you. Dosas and curry dishes are flavorful and delicious. Indian coffee is also very good, has a unique flavor. We’re never disappointed.

I’ve spent a lot of time in South India, and lived in an Indian neighborhood in NYC for 4 years. I know my shit. This place is unreal. Their coconut chutney is the best I’ve ever had. Better than all the little dosa huts in Bangalore and Mysore. Better than what I’ve had in Kerala. Today I ordered the Chicken Fry and it was INSANELY good. HUGE Curry leaves. Over the top! I have a feeling that the wait for food would be a long time. Also the restaurant doesn’t have much ambience, which it seems like a lot of Unilocalers are into. But if you’re into FOOD, this is the place to go.

First class food. Had the rasam, paneer pakora and lamb palak dosa. Authentic flavours that reminded me of my grandmother’s home cooking and the lamb was lovely and tender. Definitely one of my favourite holes-in-the-wall in Vancouver worth many repeat visits with the family. Next on the to-try list: the briyanis. They looked fantastic coming out of the kitchen.

This place has mediocre service and doesn’t feel like you’re in an Indian establishment but WOW does their food say it all! BEST Indian food I have ever had and roomer has it the best in Vancouver! Their lamb vindaloo was perfectly spicy and out of this world! Lamb palek was a great compliment to it and we also had chicken korma that did not disappoint. We know where we will be going for Indian from now on even though we live in Kitsalano. It’s worth the drive!

Rating this solely on lunch options in the area, it’s definitely a Woohoo! Family-owned, it seems, the Dosas are huge, the curry is well developed, and the service is consistently great, with friendly smiles. It’s going to be a go-to for the office now that we’ve started bringing people in.

With the loss of Simply Curries little hole in the wall on Kingsway, we have been unable to find a great curry in town. It’s always bland & unauthentic crap designed for Canadian palettes. Us Brits want what we used to get back home. Finally the search is over, this place is wonderful. You’d never find it without a tip off and luckily I received one. So headed over for lunch with a friend. They don’t ask you how spicy you want it. The spice is an intrinsic part of the dish. So a korma is mild, a vindaloo hot. A hot korma makes no sense, so walk out of anywhere that asks that dumb question. I had a lamb curry, eggplant curry and a mushroom & pea curry. All were beautifully spiced and different. The popadom was great, for a change, and the breads perfect. I shall return and return. PS — the dosas were enormous. Don’t care for them myself, but you are catered for if you do.

Clean restaurant, amazing food and reasonable price. Food — Masala Dosa, Chicken 65, Dahi Vada(Indian donuts) and Masala tea(=Chai Latte) were all tasty. Dahi Vada was crispy on the outside and soft inside. I can taste some Indian seasoning blended together. It came with two different sauces for dipping. Masala Tea was delicious, sweet and tasty. Service — Fast service. We got water filled often, but server forgot to bring Masala Tea with our order. She kept forgot about the tea. Had to tell server and ask if the tea is coming yet. Everything else was good except it took forever get Masala Tea. I heard Mango Lassi is very good. Want to try it on my next visit. Hopefully server remembers her order next time. Dosa Corner is worth it.

I’ll start with the pros: — Very authentic food — Everything served fresh with a homemade feel — The dosa is one of the Top 3 dosas I’ve ever had in Canada — The sambar was amazing. You would find sambar like this in a popular dhaba in India — The coconut chutney was also authentic and amazing — they served green mango and carrot pickle!!! The kind I ate at home as a child. It wasn’t made exactly like I liked it(I liked mine a bit citrusy) but the fact that they served it and it was made from scratch was enough — The service was attentive and very friendly The cons — Although all the food was authentic, in India this would be an average restaurant(the mains would be perhaps below average) — the mains were not very masterfully cooked. They were humble and authentic but they would get lost in a sea of the real, incredible tasting foods common in every big city in India — located in a pretty odd location and a bit of a hassle to get to Verdict: the dosa is worth the visit. The service is warm and friendly and the homemade feel of the food is refreshing. Unfortunately the rest of the main courses were not great. The chicken 65 was pretty good. If it were easy to get to I would go there often for the dosas only.

Excellent, really delicious, authentic Indian dosa. Prices are quite good. Sometimes spotty service during lunchtime rush, but overall not too bad. The food is prepared quickly and fresh. The chutneys served with the dosa are just as wonderful. The spinach and potato is my personal favourite, but I’ve tried a few and they were all great. Located in a somewhat industrial area on the south side of SE Marine drive, this is not a place for a fancy meal, the restaurant is diner style, clean and bright. Would go here any time, and often drive out of my way to taste these delicious dosa!
