Dr. Della Chow is a very experienced optometrists. She gives extensive care to your eyes during annual eye exams. Dr. Chow specializes in fitting bifocal contact lens, difficult prescriptions, and laser consultations.

Established in 2002.

Dr. Della Chow designed her beautiful boutique optical in Kitsilano. Della is a 1990 graduate of the Doctor of Optometry program at the University of Waterloo. «Making sure your eyes stay healthy and your vision is clear is important. We love it when patients tell me they love their new glasses or contact lenses». For those who are interested in contact lenses, the doctors are experienced in fitting complicated prescriptions and bifocal contacts. If you are interested in laser surgery, Dr. Chow had it done in 1997 and can advise you if you are a candidate.

I like Della as my optometrist. I experience a friendly personal type of rapport that I like. There is never pressure to purchase eyewear even though the products are there. The fact her business has been in operation over all these years (over 20 I think) is a testament to some level of customer satisfaction.

I went to Della Optique for a prescription and I was also seeing flashing lights on my right eye. I mentioned that to the optometrist (Della Chow), she told me that it’s probably because I keep using my monthly contact lenses longer that their intended use (probably she just wanted sell me more contact lenses) and also recommended a much more expensive contact lens insisting that I buy from her store. I visited the Clearlycontacts downtown optometrist couple of weeks later and so glad that I did. It turned out that I had retinal detachment and went for an emergency surgery right away!!! I had my third surgery this week and I can’t stop thinking that if Della Chow had referred me to see a retina specialist that day, I wouldn’t have the risk of loosing my vision today. BEWARE of this place!!! Go to a professional, adequate optometrist instead.

I found my face at Della Optique.
That might sound like an exaggeration, but anybody who has picked out glasses understands the struggle. Just a little too much horn can turn you into a sassy librarian from the sixties. So you search, and try on every frame in the building until you’re startled to find yourself staring back on the other side of the mirror, the same but different.
Amidst this battle, Della is your ally. She’s got a keen eye and she’s a veteran of the field. She knows her stock and more importantly, she’s honest: Good is not the same as Great. She will tirelessly help you search for that perfect pair of glasses, instead of letting you walk away with a bad choice.
I had given up hope, after trying on every feasible option in the store. «We can always order,» Della said. «We know what style you’re looking for– oh! Wait!» She handed me a pair that had been hidden behind the counter, probably because they were so awesome someone else had bought them. They snapped into place on my face like they were made to fit. «That’s it,» Della said, before I had even looked in the mirror. And she was totally right. That was it. I loved them immediately (and still do).
If you’re just looking for an eye exam or a new set of lenses, you can go anywhere. If you’re looking for face, however, anywhere won’t do. Picking out frames is an art, and it’s essential to have a honest ally who knows what they’re talking about to give it to you straight. This is what Della and her staff offer, besides astonishingly quick service and thorough exams. It wasn’t cheap, but it was worth every penny.

I am late with this review. My apologies to the staff! I received the best care and attention from Kim who patiently helped me try on almost every pair of glasses in every case, offering her friendly opinions all along the way (which helped greatly, since I was alone that day). Then, another doctor (besides Della) filled my prescription and fitted me with my new frames. I wish I knew his name because he was probably the nicest person I’ve ever spoken to and very helpful. Wish I could take this place back home with me to Los Angeles. They are awesome!

Definitely would recommend her, in terms of service, does a more thorough job of checking your eyes than most, from what ive been told. Not cheap though, last time i got my eyes checked here, it was prob. $ 20 more than anywhere else.
Nice boutique store, & prices are pretty well what you expect in this posh area; good service too.
She’s trained with the best & can offer advice on who to go to for laser surgery.

Just opened my purse to discover my Ted Baker hardshell eyeglass case has a dent on the outside. Who knows what almost crushed it, but the fact Della provides complimentary hard cases is one more reason why I support Della Optique. Glasses are fine, fortunately and Vancouver is fortunate to have Della Optique!

I’ve being seeing Dr. Della Chow since I moved to Vancouver in 2008. Although in the interim I’ve moved as far east as Commercial Drive, I keep coming back to her, and It’s worth the commute. She is dedicated, knowledgeable, and provides an excellent service. I’ve no desire to try anyone else.
