10% off pick up orders. Prices are already very reasonable, so picking up makes it that much more affordable. I love the chinese sausage with snow peas. So good!
Very good Chinese food for takeout. A regular part of our routine and never disappointed. Sometimes we need to wait for the order longer than their stated pick up time and it can be tough to find parking on 4th but it’s made fresh to order and worth the wait. They’re also open on Christmas Eve, which was fantastic one year when we were jammed. Definitely recommend it for takeout. Never tried their table service but I suspect it’s also very good.

my friend and i were excited to try this place, especially after seeing all the good reviews. however! the lemon chicken, had no lemon sauce, they forgot chopsticks, nothing was labeled… i cant remember what i had but it was not memorable… they also told us it would be 25 minutes and when we went back in 10 minutes it was ready… weird

I’m a big fan of Connie’s because I feel at home at this place. It’s by no means fancy and very low key. It’s a mom and pop kind of business and the food is simple. You can’t expect anything fancy at this place. The food is all MSG free which is great. Its my go to place if I want something cheap and delicious.

I liked the wonton soup, that was about it! Oh, and the service — there really wasn’t any!

I was torn because of the disparity in the reviews. However, I had a craving for Chinese food so I went for it. I liked my meal. It arrived promptly. I was a bit disappointed that for a $ 40+ order there were no fortune cookies — not a one! But I ordered a large variety of food and liked it.

When it comes to what I call«white» Chinese food, I have the following criteria that must be met. a) Does the restaurant deliver ? b) Is there a whackload of food? c) How much msg are we talking? d) Spring rolls? Connies satisfies all of these. They deliver in the said time, theres oodles and oodles of food and their food doesn’t have me running to the closest store of a can of Coke(if you have msg dry mouth, grab the original can of Coke, no subs, must be in red can and be Coca Cola, try it!). AND if you order as much as I typically do, anything over $ 30 bucks gets you extra spring rolls, tasty tasty spring rolls. So a quickie on our meals, we typically order combo E which includes spring rolls, rice, Beef & black bean, sweet & sour pork, chicken vegetables and house special chow mein. Everything was hot upon arrival, reasonably priced($ 62 with tip) and lasts us at least 2 – 3 days for two people. The food has a good ratio of meat vs vegetables(lots of zucchini, onions, broccoli etc) and the meat is cooked just right, never on the dry side. They also tend to err on the side of caution when it comes to saltiness. Which is great because I’ve never had to wash it down to reduce the sodium, nor have I had to run to my salt shaker. I mean this ain’t a place with a 5 diamond gourmet chef extraordinaire. I don’t understand all these«expectations» people throw around. This is good old fashioned«Chinese» food served in aluminum containers. What do you guys want? This small town girl is more than satisfied.

Wholesome, hearty Chinese ‘comfort food’. Staple of the neighbourhood in Kitsilano. Connie’s been here for years and I hope she stays forever. Delicious and very well-priced. Come hungry.

I was really looking forward to eating at Connie’s Cook House based on the majority of good reviews I had read. Here’s my experience. First, when I walked in I noticed the old black framed circa 2001 newspaper reviews. That should have been my first warning sign. Not that an old review isn’t note worthy, but I wondered why there was nothing more recent than the early 2000s. Secondly, I had an opportunity to peer into the kitchen/food prep area. Needless to say, it wasn’t the cleanest. I noticed someone chopping away(bare handed I might add) at a raw chicken carcass just inches away from the fresh produce… food safety no no 101. Then came the food. Ugh, where do I start. Healthy home cooking? Not really. Drenched in 1970s electric colored syrup style sauce topped with low quality, sometimes grisly and even slimy meat. Here’s the upside. The veggies they use seemed fresh(even though I was worried about how they were handled) and the staff were very kind. Bottom line, if you’re looking for high quality Chinese food you may want to look elsewhere.

I do enjoy getting take out from here! We lived down the street for 4 years(have just moved) and this is where I would get Chinese food any time i had the craving! It’s reasonably priced considering the amounts they give you! It took my son and I 4 meals to get through about $ 25 worth of food! I will still do take out from here because I work close by!

When im too lazy to cook, Connies is a place to order. For 20 $ my whole family can eat(3 kids, 2 adults) Food is good, nothing special, but its better than any other Chinese in DT/Kits area. Usually go for chow mein and beef-broccoli, wonton soup is good too. This combo does not disappoint so far.

Ordered chicken and black bean sauce chow mein. It was bland, very minimal chicken and black bean sauce. Cut with alot of cheap green peppers. The noodles were dry and undercooked. It was though the cook had put dry take out noodle in the container and hoped the heat of the toppings would cook it. Waste of 11 dollars. Never will come back.

The. Best. Chinese. Food. Ever. Thats pretty much sums it up, their food is so good, their delivery is fast and their prices are really reasonable for the amount that you get. The only downside is if your going to pick it up, parking is kind of a nightmare(they are on one of the busiest parts of West 4th) but delivery is free! Friendly staff as well!

This is not very good Chinese food, but you can get a lot of it for $ 12 so sometimes that’s all that matters.

It’s average and reasonably priced for the neighbourhood. The meat seems pretty rough/tough in some dishes, ginger beef comes to mind. The general Tso’s chicken is okay but comes with a ton of super sweet sauce. The take-out works reasonably well though, just make some rice and tea at home and pick up an order.

So I hear that David Suzuki lives nearby and comes here a lot. too bad I didn’t see him… when when i walked in with my friend, i was surprised to see that we were the only asian patrons. Thinking to myself, I’m guessing that everyone would venture off to places such as Congee Noodle house or a HK diner to get the food we were going to get here. We ordered veggies with 3 type mushrooms, meat, seafood and tofu hot pot, and chili wontons. The chili wontons came in a bowl filled with peanut sauce, not what I had expected, and definitely was not spicy… maybe a pinch but that could have been my imagination. The wontons were very large, I can only wish that they made it themselves, but I highly doubt it. The veggies were fresh and I love mushrooms to to have 3 different types — including the good traditional large ones is a great treat. The hot pot was meaty with bbq pork, squif, scallop, shrimp and deep fried tofu. All the food was very comforting and reminded me of something mom would make. Nothing tasted overly greasy and the sauce was simple yet tasty. I think that this is one of those places where you would want to go to if you just didn’t want to cook, but wanted to eat the same type of food you would get at home… sometimes it’s more satisfying having someone else make it for you.

First time here, for lunch Extensive list of lunch special options, all come with tea and your choice of soup Laid back atmosphere, bright and colourful interior Happy, polite staff and quick service The whole menu looks quite economic; will be returning for dinner and/or takeout
