Best Congee I have tasted in a while. Price is reasonable and there are plenty of other options

When it’s cold and rainy, you’ve been outside all day, and all you want is a hot bowl of congee FAST, Congee Noodle House is your friend. Quick yummy and great value.

Group Friendly, late night, loud, large portions First, this is one of the only places that is open after…11pm so bonus points for that! Second, a few go to things on the menu: wonton soup, congee, Chinese donut rice rolls, house fried rice. They are great staples and those never disappoint. Third, the three stars is because service can be sloppy if they are busy and it is very loud most of the time. Not a great place for a quite dinner but a fantastic place with friends for late night.

This is a good divey late night spot. With a name of Congee Noodle House, they certainly deliver! Restaurant — the layout is typical of most Chinese places. Lots of round tables with mirrors on the walls to make it look bigger. Big windows in the front to attract everyone and let everyone see how busy they are. Service — it’s alright. A few servers and cashiers, so it’s a little slow. We got tea right away, but no refills. It took a little to order, but the food was fast. Food — wontons, dumplings in chili oil, 3 types of congee– Hong Kong style with minced beef, minced pork with preserved egg and sliced porl with preserved egg. My favorite was the dumplings in chili oil. It was tasty and the chili oil packed a little of heat while being sweet. The chili on the table was so hot, but so tasty that I had to keep adding even though I was sweating. It added more flavor into my congee as well. This will definitely hit the spot after a long day, especially with this cold spell!

I have to say I’m a fan of this place most of the time. It’s a hit or miss on the service but it’s relatively the same for me at any time of the day. Atmosphere is about the same each time i’m here and parking situation is the same too. They do have a parking lot. Super tight though. But they also have street parking. I’ve been here multiple times for lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and late dinner. I would say my experience every time with them is about the same. Such as if you ordered something and it hasn’t arrived yet but you want to cancel it well it’s probably not possible. They will go into the kitchen and say they tried to cancel it but say they’ve already started making it. So, in other words they force you to pay for it. But I have to say their food isn’t bad for a congee place. As the name states, they are famous for their congee. It’s that big pot of plain congee that they have boiling pretty much all day. Their congee is pretty good here. The best part is it goes well with deep fried stuff. Man it’s making my mouth water while I type up this review. But a side note is they usually don’t have the deep fried donut past like 8pm or something. So, if you’re swinging by for a later dinner, don’t expect to be able to get that. Asides from that you should be able to get the rest of the other stuff on their menu. Overall, it’s a place that’s great for late dinners when you just crave either comfort food or just some good old deep fried food.

I use this Chinese restaurant as a comparison for all other Chinese restaurants in Vancouver because it’s consistently good with reasonable value. I prefer Bamboo Grove and Kirin in Richmond but you’re paying substantially more for a slight increase in quality and service. They have many specials throughout the day. I always order the Snow Pea Leaves in Garlic. Fresh spicy, salt crab is delicious but pricy. Ordered 3lbs for 2 people for roughly $ 45. Deep Fried Squid with Salt & Chilli is also good but make sure you order a light healthy green dish to go with it or drink lots of water to cleanse the salt. When I’m sick or miserable from the rain I go for their congee. Dried Oyster, Preserved Egg & Shredded Pork and the House Special Seafood are my usual. The Steamed Chicken with Ginger & Green Onion is a traditional fav and great when you’re sick as well. When I’m feeling for dim sum I get the Steamed Scallops or Shrimp Rice Roll and the White Radish(Lo Bak) Pan Fried Cake. Like many budget Chinese restaurants you go there for the food & not the service. It’s generally always busy so let the server know you need a water & tea refill even when you don’t need it yet as it’ll take awhile for them to come back. And of course, cash only.

Great place for some cheap Chinese comfort food. Service is minimal. Tea isn’t always served pipping hot. The restaurant is somewhat clean but could use a deep scrubbing on the tables. The congee and noodles are solid choices here that I like to order.

For cheap, late night eats in Vancouver(if you are in Richmond, there are more options), this place is definitely top of mind for me when I am craving some chinese food. Especially when it comes to awesome congee or noodle soup. Congee Noodle House offers you some very sizable portions with some great prices(especially for late night). I’ve always been a fan of their congee which never seems to disappoint with its spot on flavour and toppings. This time around however, I tried out their beef brisket and noodle soup, which isn’t all that crazy, but for just 6 dollars, you are treated to a ton of very tender beef brisket, some tasty broth, and perfectly cooked egg noodles. Their crispy deep fried tofu is also amazing: super soft on the inside and crispy on the outside covered in chili peppers, salt and garlic. YUM! These folks are also very fast on the service. On a side note: how is there chili paste in oil(you know the one) so good here? How? I want to put it on everything, but it is so spicy!

This place has pretty good food and considering it’s opened super late. it makes it an even better spot to hit up. I have come here maybe three times already and their congee, wonton, and just dishes overall are pretty good. The only downside is this place is so popular that it’s always so packed. A good thing for them but bad thing for us waiting. Decently priced, decent portions. This place is definitely a regular spot to come to with big groups as well as you can really fill up without having to pay a lot. It’s also relatively clean considering it’s a Chinese restaurant and so busy with late hours. Come here and try it if your down for some Chinese comfort food.

Oh man, the beef brisket at Congee Noodle House is a winner. Whether you have it on rice or soup noodles, it’s just so good! Their sticky rice, aka, jong, is one of a kind too. Pour just a bit of soy sauce on it and it’s golden. The soy sauce chicken is one of the best too — juicy, tender, full of flavors, you name it! Believe it or not, the only thing to watch out for isn’t their food, it’s their parking lot. Spend the dollar to park on the street. Their free parking lot is one of the tightest lot I’ve seen — witnessed so many people being stuck!

Everything is on point, with the exception of the service. Due to the language barrier, servers ignore requests for small things like a fill up in water. Also, plan yo pay with cash because that is the ONLY form of payment that they except. Great spot for congi!

It’s a cheap Chinese takeout place with big flavors. It’s my hangover meal, and my lazy pj and movie night. Honestly, for that price and flavor, can’t say anything bad about it. NOTE: it’s cash only.

Went last night as we were craving noodles. The restaurant has a large seating area and a very dated interior. We found seats and it took a while for the staff to take our orders. We ordered the Singapore noodles, the gai-lan and the bbq pork. The food was fairly typical of noodles houses and the bbq pork was probably the best of the 3 dishes we ordered.

Late night snacking on a Saturday night. Service is super slow. With eight server and three management staff, it took us a while for menus and cutlery. Business wasn’t that busy at 10pm, but serving two guys wasn’t their priority. I notice menu behind me and I just helped myself. My friend ordered wonton soup and I mistakenly ordered the wontons and dumplings in soup(it did not come with noodles). Although, my quick meal was filling — I’ve could have made it better at home. It wasn’t really fresh as I can taste the«frozen». A caucasian gentleman behind us ordered a hot and sour soup, but because the waitress were all busy talking about themselves — he was forgotten. three different waitress asked him if he wanted to order something. He said he ordered soup, but want it to go — one of the management staff muttered in Cantonese«that gwai lo is so ma fan»(«That Caucasian is so frustrating»). Maybe he didn’t understand Cantonese, but I sure did. If you’re going to be rude to your customers, it’s best you do in behind closed door where your Cantonese customers aren’t watching. I won’t be back!

Not bad for quick Chinese take out food — decent prices and food is pretty good although the expected oilier and fattier cuts. Sweet and Sour Pork — bright red sauce isn’t attractive but does the trick to please the cravings Spaghetti with Egg, Sausage, Ham and Bacon — not sure what its actually called on the menu but a classic favourite of my dad’s with a tomato based sauce and past mushy spaghetti, this is his type of comfort food.

3.85 stars? Not bad for a quick chinese food dinner. There are over 200 dishes types to choose from. Yum. My friend and I ordered the minced beef congee, added the Asian fried doughnut to go with it, the pork pork dish(she chose that one) and shared. The rice plate came with a surprise brown Chinese soup. It could have fed three people… We had to leave some food on the table. Great kick butt Asian ladies who are fast, efficient, and pow wow boom when it comes to service. Fast too! Don’t expect to make friendly banter with them, they are nice, just efficient and hard working. It is often busy so it must be good, right?

I guess the name says it all. This is a Congee Noodle House which means that they are good at making Congee and Wonton Noodles. Congee and Wonton Noodles, I give them a 5 for Congee, Noodle and BBQ pork. For other chinese dishes I will give a 2 stars. They have the Chinese combos that includes rice and soup. However, I find there Chinese dishes over priced. As well, their seafood are ridiculous expensive. fried oyster is $ 5.50 each, lobster is $ 20.80 per lb(this year we have abundance of lobster and market rate for lobster has drop significantly with some Vancouver and Richmond restaurant offering it free with so $$ order or $ 8 for 2lb lobster again with $$ order). As well, their Chinese dish are not cook well.

The congee here is good, but a little too watery for my tastes. The oyster, pork, preserved egg congee is really good with a nice and heavy oyster flavor. According to my relative this place use to be the best wonton restaurant in Vancouver(now they are number 2). The wonton noodles were in fact really good. Definitely better than anything i’ve had back in Los Angeles. The noodles are really thin and you can tell they are freshly made in house. I’d definitely recommend this place but personally I liked the congee at Venice seafood better.

Congee Noodles house is located at Main & Broadway. I’m not sure why they’re so busy all the time, I believe it’s prime location NOT the food! I saw my last review in 2010, it’s time to write an update review. We went there for lunch on Sunday, it’s crowed at the entrance. We put down our name at the cashier and waited 10 mins for table. Most of casual Chinese restaurants, I don’t expect excellent service but at least minimum service. I had to waive the waitress over to get tea and menu, also waved them over to take our order. My hubby had his favour congee — pork liver, kidney and meatballs rice porridge. The congee was quite tasty but pretty MSG coz we felt so thirsty afterwards. Also, it became quite watery when we almost finished. The beef brisket and tripe noodles was greasy and salty too! The wonton was mushy. Service lacking and below average food restaurant, no rush to go back in another 5 years.

I love coming here because it reminds me Chinese food growing up. The restaurants got great service. Seriously I’ve been here first thing in the morning with the older Asian grandparents. And I’ve been here late at night with the drinks. And it’s the same staff. Lots like they live here and keep giving that friendly smile and service cuz that’s all they know. Since its Chinese New Year jong r in season and we ordered that. While normally I don’t like the yellow split peas, there was a good balance in ratio to the rice and I really enjoyed it. The egg want too salty and there was a fair bit of meat! We also got a cold milk coffee which was huge and really heavy. To drink. I typically get the congee, 1000 year old egg with pork slices which tastes great! With the Chinese sweet doughnut it’s even better! Throw in a veggie dish and you r set!
