Community Thrift and Vintage

I came in with low expectations, however, was blown away at not only how organized this place is but that it actually has stuff that people want. Prices are a little all over the map, some slightly over priced, however, some on the ball. A lot cheaper than some of the other shops for clothes that are still in good condition. When I come in I am never disappointed in the treasures that I find. They have another location downtown that I am hoping to hit up this week.

I’m always looking for vintage pieces to update my individual wardrobe. This place never disappoints me. Lots of little gems, if you want to find something that no one else is wearing. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

This is absolutely my favourite place to shop in Vancouver! They consistently have the most gorgeous one of a kind pieces that are irresistible.
Gastown is a notoriously expensive neighbourhood but everything in this store is reasonably priced.
A tip for all you sunglasses lovers, these guys have the most amazing selection of beautiful glasses! I bought three pairs from there this summer and although the sun is gone now, I’ll be waiting for the next sunny day so I can bust those beauties out again.

Stumbled upon this little gem while walking through the area. The store is nicely decorated with NO musty smell. The selection was very hip & trendy, even though they label themselves as vintage.
The abundance selection of scarves were impressive. I scored an authentic Coach wool scarf for $ 14 (Canadian dollars). It was in immaculate condition. I almost walked away with another scarf, but I had to control myself.
I think if you’re looking for a good selection of gently used unique scarves, this is the place to check out.

After reading the reviews on here I decided to go check it out as I am what my friends would call a «cheap ass.» But I honestly was pretty dissappointed.
The store was small and super over priced. It felt like a heaven for hipsters to buy overpriced used stuff to say they bought it at a so called «thrift store.»
$ 15 flannels and stuff. I went with friends across the street to Army & Navy and they had the exact same stuff but new for $ 4.
I give it 2 stars instead of 1, because it did look «pretty and organized.»

I love this place! The things they have are affordable and reasonable even for a student and I can always find something I like.

I’ve walked past Community a number of times and in searching for a new belt stumbled in there again on Friday and wow am I ever glad I did. They have an amazing selection of clothes that are arranged really cohesively and they clearly do a good job finding things. I could have easily bought everything on the sweater rack.
AND more importantly, instead of feeling like my soul is being sucked out if I pick through the racks at VV, I know what I spend here goes back to the community. Fantastic.

My boyfriend looks like Uncle Jesse. He even looks like Uncle Jesse when wearing a navy blue button-​down cardigan from Community Thrift and Vintage. He even looks like Uncle Jesse when carrying the duffel bag I bought there: canvas with leather straps and a seashell/​seahorse pattern. He looked so hot carrying it on Wreck Beach with all our stuff jammed in it, like the gentleman he is.

This is the kind of vintage shop I don’t expect to find in Gastown — incredibly well curated but CHEAP. Amazing prices for everything. Styles range all over the place, but there were lots of 90s floral pieces last time I was in. I got a fantastic midi skirt for $ 20 with a pattern that I am in love with. Love! Their selection policy is all about natural fibres, which meant I was trying on some fantastic sweaters to go with my skirt. The shop does have that Gastown aesthetic, though — wood and metal and exposed brick. Gorgeous.
I need to go back and look at their shoes…

Community is totally on point with its well organized, curated selection of vintage and second hand wares at ultra reasonable prices.
While I typically dont have the patience for rummaging through endless racks of overpriced vintage clothes, Community makes it pleasant and painless. The friendly sales staff and rustic urban décor help to create the ultimate shopping experience!
I stopped in twice during my stay in VC and both times managed to score some lovable goods at lovely rates. I highly recommend this shop and can’t wait to visit next time I’m in beautiful Vancity!

This store is great but, you have to look carefully. Some stuff can be a little over priced for consignment, but compared to main st. boutiques it is really cheap! I found authentic red Valentino heels for $ 5!!! look at the tags cause there are usually markdowns in red. Staff is friendly and nice. On the downside, there are only 2 change rooms so you have to wait quite a while if there are other people in front of you.

I first heard about Community Thrift and Vintage from Scout Magazine, and I’ve been achin’ to check it out ever since. Word on the street was that everything in this store is under $ 30, and I am so pleased to report that this is indeed the case. With a well-​edited, organized-​by-​colour selection of vintage goods, there’s something for everyone at this shop –and you don’t have to do a helluva lot of digging to find it!
I was reading an article the other day, and it was mentioning how this place employs women from the downtown east side to help them find meaningful work. Also, the proprietor doesn’t expect to see ANY profits for the next 18 months, but when she finally does it will all be given to DTES charities. How amazing is that? This is truly a place that you can feel good about shopping at. Community Thrift and Vintage, you put other vintage clothing stores in this town to shame!

When I hear the words «vintage store in Gastown owned by local fashion-​savant», I think of one thing: overpriced second hand clothing that I would normally love but won’t based on moral objections to the obscene prices. But something piqued my interest when I heard of Community Thrift and Vintage. I knew this one would be different then the rest.
Man was I right. One part social enterprise, one part thrift store, all parts awesome, this pretty little boutique is retail-​with-​a-​conscious to the highest order. A firm believer that the «thrift» in «thrift store» should be observed, I was beyond relieved to walk into an unpretentious, well-​curated, and cheap (!!) vintage shop. Adhering to my «no uglies» policy, this not-​for-​profit opts for natural fibres when choosing their wares, and has a strict no polyester rule (thankthelawd).
With its reclaimed wood and exposed brick walls, its well-​curated wares, and its social advocacy and support of the DTES, Community Thrift could easily upsell cool to the masses. But they don’t. And I love them so much more for it.
